How many times did Benoit wrestle Austin?

Recommended Posts

Guest Ray

I'm trying to figure something out, and I thought this would be the best place to ask.

How many times did Steve Austin wrestle Chris Benoit?

I'm talking about any TV/PPV matches they had, singles, tag, 3-way, etc...

I came up with six-

Austin vs. Benoit - Raw November 20, 2000 (after Survivor Series)

Austin & Triple H vs. Benoit & Jericho - Raw May 21, 2001

Austin vs. Benoit - Raw May 28, 2001

Austin vs. Benoit - SD May 31, 2001

Austin & Vince vs. Benoit & Jericho - June 7, 2001

Austin vs. Benoit vs. Jericho - King of the Ring June 24, 2001

Am I missing any?

Wouldn't you kill for a tape of that^^^??

Yep

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Austin and Benoit wrestle in September of 2000, after Unforgiven?

Or do I have this mixed with their post-Survivor Series Raw match?

I think you have it confused. Stone Cold's first match after the injury was No Mercy 2000.

Austin and Benoit also wrestled in February of 2001 either once or twice. It was during the time Triple H was feuding with Austin and The Radicalz fought Austin (Eddy and Benoit fought Austin twice each, and Saturn once).

I love Benoit's promo on Austin.

"You know, for someone that claims to be THE toughest SOB in the World WRESTLING Federation, I don't see a hell of a lot of wrestling! Sure, you've proven to *everyone* that you're DAMN good with a forklift...(sarcastic clap)...and yeah, you might be pretty good with a Stunner, too. But you know what, Steve, *I* have been toe to toe with you, and I am not impressed. So I wonder just how well you'd fare in an actual 'wrestling' match...you do know what this is, Steve? *Wrestling?* THE business that we're in? One man versus another? No monster trucks, no chef hat, no forklifts, no...Steve, just WRESTLING."

*wipes a tear from his eye* I knew I loved that man from that moment....

BTW, check out CRZ's recap from that show:

In case you've been missing out, let me relate to you that the latest "smart" thing for you to do to look "smart" is to openly and publicly bash Stephanie for "writing 100% of the show," which apparently sucks now. And THIS, my friends, is why "smart" fans are by and large, and for the most part...*idiots*. Yeah, you too. ESPECIALLY you. Nutjob.

Oh shit.

I completely forgot about that.

Wasn't it after No Mercy, then?

Austin's first match ever with Benoit was Raw right after Survivor Series 2000.

Ok, then.

I obviously stand corrected.

Either way, most of Austin's singles matches with Benoit have kicked ass, except for that one after Survivor Series 2000, as I've never seen it, or at least I don't remember seeing it.

I agree. It's one of the best matches under 10 minutes I've seen.

No.

I'm not sharing any files.....and I don't have Kazaa on anyway. ;)

If anyone knows of any other Austin/Benoit matches, don't forget to post them here.

June 7? 2001-This match started off as Benoit/Jericho vs APA, than Big Show/Rhyno, than Austin, Vinnie Mac

I'm guessing this match was for the tag titles. The point of Benoit/Jericho wrestling everyone was to wear them down for Austin and Vinnie Mac.

Benoit/Kane vs Austin/Jericho November 24? 2001 This was the Smackdown after the Raw match between Benoit and Austin. There was one awesome spot in here where Benoit and Austin have a technical exchange and it ends with Benoit rolling out, getting up on his feet and just shaking his finger at Austin as if to say "Buddy, You're not even close to being the man". Anyway, this was the time where it seemed very obvious that they were building up to a Benoit/Austin PPV match (maybe even 2/3 falls) but it wasn't to be as HHH stuck his nose in at the last minute and wrestled Austin at the next PPV. Benoit than quickly got put up against midcarders from that point on as he was out of the blue put in a match with Billy Gun where there was not much buildup at all.
