LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I love Mick Foley and everything and think he was an amazing performer. Nobody can take away what he did and his sacrafice for his business, but after saying that he hates the direction the WWE is going in he always seems to come back just when he has a new book coming out. I think he's sort of a hippocrite, but at the same time a great business man....what do you guys think?
Guest Choken One Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Most good businessmen ARE GREAT hypocrites. It's one of those facts of life...

Guest Retro Rob Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Maybe he likes the direction the WWE is going in now as opposed to how it was going in 2001.
Guest razazteca Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Foley is god, its not like he went to court to sue the WWE for sexual harassment, then come back as a mid-age blond eye candy sex toy for the owner.
Guest Retro Rob Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 He wants to promote his book, simple as that. Maybe in the process he will want to get involved in wrestling on a more regular basis again. Who knows?
Guest Choken One Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 and ummm...When do they actually PROMOTE the book? so far...Foley getting shafted on his end of the bargain...
Guest Retro Rob Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Well, that is why he is coming back for more. I figured he would work this angle, disappear, and then when the book comes out he might make a few appearances. The WWE would also air commercials and whatnot.
Guest Downhome Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Let him do what the fuck he wants with his life without your calling him names. He gave his all for us, he can do anything he pleases with his life and career as far as I'm concerned.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Author Report Posted June 16, 2003 I think the end of July it comes out
Guest Choken One Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 He should get a shirt that reads "Antheim ???- Buy It. July ???- and never say a WORD about it.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Author Report Posted June 16, 2003 DH, did i strike a nerve with you when i called him a "hippocrite"? ....Like i said, i love the guy, but he contradicts himself when he comes back. If it means more publicity and money for him then more power to him...he deserves it
Guest Downhome Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 DH, did i strike a nerve with you when i called him a "hippocrite"? ....Like i said, i love the guy, but he contradicts himself when he comes back. If it means more publicity and money for him then more power to him...he deserves it There's no reason to call him anything. People say shit all of the time, people say they will retire, blah blah blah. Some times they mean it, other times they don't, but either way, let them do what they want, who cares? Most of us love the guy, so welcome him back and kudos to him for having the heart to entertain us all. Perhaps he loves the business too much to just go away already? Perhaps he's wanting to feel the feeling he gets in the ring once again? Maybe the ONLY reaoson he's back is to promote his book (hasn't said a single word about it however). Maybe he just lied, maybe he didn't. Either way, who really cares and what business is it of ours? We'll never know what his reasons is, all that I as a fan care about, is that one of my favorites of all time is back, and more than likely in action. As a fan sitting at home, that's all that I feel concerns me. If he becomes nothing more than a shill however, I'll wish for him to be gone as I did the last time he was here!
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I don't think he actually said that. He missed the Raw tenth anniversary thing because he was at some kind of ice skating event.
Guest Choken One Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I don't think he actually said that. He missed the Raw tenth anniversary thing because he was at some kind of ice skating event. I thought it was because they never even called him...
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/new...hp?news_id=5467 Foley turned down WWE because they wanted him there early for a 10-12 hour day, and he only really wanted to show up, receive the award and leave. In addition, he didn’t want to ruin his return by wasting it on the Raw X special.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Author Report Posted June 16, 2003 and on top of that he also blew them off when he was scheduled to do Byte This a few months ago.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Foley said he'd never be back in a full-on WRESTLING role. And he isn't, nor will he be. He said he'd leave WWE FULL-TIME because of the way the product was going. He's not there full-time. So, show me the HYPOCRISY again?
Guest tetsubeav Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 and on top of that he also blew them off when he was scheduled to do Byte This a few months ago. Yeah, the one soon after the Katie Vick BS. No wonder Foley wanted to keep his name away.

Guest Trivia247 Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 standing for ones principals may sound good for a few days, a couple of weeks, a couple of months, a year. More than that the majority of the revenue you become accustom to, you and your family is no longer there, its hard to really recover from it. bascially we do NOT know all of the motivations for his return. Maybe its finacial, maybe its personal or family related, Its neither our business nor should we get so Emotionally SCARRED because a guy returned to wrestling after he said he wouldn't.
Guest Choken One Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Maybe Dewey wanted him to...I dunno

If he becomes nothing more than a shill however, I'll wish for him to be gone as I did the last time he was here! i would prefer him as a shill. he is more funny that way. mick foley stepping into the ring is NOT the right thing to do. i'll be the first person to admit that i missed mick foley but i want him to stay away!!!! foley is not what wwe needs. goldberg is not what they need. piper, hogan, nash, big show, austin, etc. etc. etc. all of them have had their day and now it is time for them to pop up at the occasional autograph session or talk show and stay away from today's product. also, it isn't about loving the business, it is about being a glory hound or tv slut. there is something addicting about appearing on the tv screen and foley wanted that feeling back. he did not come back because he loved the business.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Wow, somebody doesn't know Foley at all. If Foley wanted to appear on TV, he could probably get a few dates to talk about his upcoming book. He's still a rather fresh face in the public eye (as in several people will still recognize him), and an aspiring/talent author. Foley doesn't love the business? Is that what you're trying to imply?
Guest deadbeater Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Maybe they came up with a great storyline.
