Guest pochorenella Report post Posted June 17, 2003 You can find a very good one fromHollywood Reporter. If you know of some more reviews please post them here. I'm really looking forward to this movie, and if this review is any indication it will totally ROCK! And for all you idiots who want the movie to fail becuse the Hulk's not green enough, not as good as Gollum, can't act or whatever, don't bother coming in this thread. Thanks. Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I got a bootleg DVD on Friday, although it seemed to be a pretty rough cut. I must say that I thought it was pretty good, though not as good as X2 IMO, but definitely worth the trip. It stays very true to the original tale while still taking some liberties, but none were too major. My only real problem with it was the ending, which I felt was very cliche and predictable. Also, Jennifer Connelly as Betty Ross took up too much of the story for my liking. Moving on, I really liked the directing - very smooth, well-done, and innovative. And the scenes of Hulk being accosted by the military in the desert were quite nice and very accurate. If you're looking forward to it and/or you're a Hulk fan, don't worry, you won't be disappointed.

Guest newblood03 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 It looks pretty good think it's worth 6 dollars at the theater? I dl it but it was The Ring.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 New Blood....WHAT? Please try to make sense. It's in the rules, you know. Downhome, there's ALWAYS backlash for the blockbusters so count on Hulk getting bashed, especially here, sadly. Dames
Guest newblood03 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Sorry Mr. Dames. I meant do you think it would be worth 6 dollars at the theater? I tried to download The Hulk but it was The Ring when i watched it.
Guest Marshall Report post Posted June 17, 2003 It's not the same type of movie as X2 so it's not fair to compare them. It's a great movie, but it's gonna bore the kids. The Hulk isn't in it enough and.... (BIG FAT spoiler) Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The end was just weird, I couldn't make sense of it. Right after David Banner bit the cable to the "one year later" end, were all a big blur. I just didn't get why he could put his hand though stuff.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Just bought my ticket at Fandango! I'm picking up my ticket today just so there's no extra waiting the day of. This movie really needs to live up to the hype. I never go to the movies anymore.

Right after David Banner bit the cable to the "one year later" end, were all a big blur. I just didn't get why he could put his hand though stuff. Why do people always say "it's not the same type of movie, so it isn't fair to compare them?" Sure it is! I am a huge Stanley Kubrick fan, and Dr. Strangelove is one of my favorite movies of all-time, as well as one of the most finely-made films of all-time. I also enjoy The Godfather. I don't think it would be unfair to compare the two with the conclusion that Dr. Strangelove is a better movie because it was directed better. I just don't get that argument. Besides, The Hulk and X2 are similar films. They are both big-budget action flicks based on existing comic book properties created by Stan Lee, and both contain an underlying theme of the main character(s) taking on those that don't understand and fear them. In my opinion, X2 was a tighter, better story with better editing, which is why I think Hulk does not measure up to it.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 The theatre I bought my advance ticket from is only showing the movie in one theatre with it showing at only four showtimes a day! It's a complex with 22 screens. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Large chain theaters are usually told how many prints they will get, so it's not the theater doing it. Besides I don't think Hulk will do HUGE business. It'll easily be #1 this week, but it won't do Matrix money this first week. Oddly enough this is my first must see movie of the Summer. I wanted to see X2 and Matrix but I was in no hurry to see either.
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted June 18, 2003 The latest I've heard is Ebert & Roeper giving The Hulk two Thumbs Up. They go so far as to call it "the perfect comic-book movie".

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Even that bad review is really a good review. Oh darn it's a serious comic book movie...that's just awful.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Yes...and it's from someone expecting and wanting a "mindless" comic book movie which features more action than story. Thus I take his rating with a grain of salt. I consider his review a good review, because he bitched about everything I hoped Ang Lee would give us in a comic book movie. I liked all of those "mindless" comic book movies too, so don't take that as me insulting them. I've just been wanting to see a serious comic book movie with a brain. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 I only want to see it now that I know that it isn't a mindless comic book movie. Batman and Robin was a mindless comic movie.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I'll be seeing it tomorrow. And after seeing the behind the scenes show that was on Sci_Fi last night, I am even more hyped about seing it.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I got my tickets for tonight. The local paper gave it 4 stars...but I'm too lazy to go get a link. Basically...it was called a great movie because it's not popcorn fodder. Much like most of the reviews.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I'm about to leave to go see it also. I'll post a few thoughts on it when I get back.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Count me out. No doubt it will be the #1 movie but thats not really saying much.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Is there a reason that your anti a movie you haven't seen...or what?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Is there a reason that your anti a movie you haven't seen...or what? I don't like the comic book, nor the original tv show. Im not too big on comic books. The only comic book based movies I've seen in a theatre are Spiderman, Batman Forever (but only because Jim Carrey was the Riddler..) and the 3 Ninja Turtle Movies (but I was like 8 when the first one come out...and I didn't even know it was based on a comic book until way later..) Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Well that's a little closed minded, I think. Some comic characters are very interesting...even if they have pretty pictures and word bubbles.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I'm hyped about seeing it tonight. i just don't know if I am too fond of him being able to leap an insane distance.
Guest HHH123007 Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I saw the 10am showing at my local theater....here's my review... ----------- The Hulk (7/10) MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD I didn't know what to expect as I walked into the theater today...Was it gonna be a mindless CGI crapfest, or a very deep action-drama. It was a little of both. First off, big props to Ang Lee for doing a great job with something I thought he was setup to fail at. He perfectly captures the way a comic book movie should be done......with panels. The action zooms from panel to panel like a real full motion comic book. The first 90 minutes of the flick are terrific.....then we start to see a change. One that's not for the better. For about 15 minutes it seems a bit goofy, but that's a given due to it's comic book nature.......then it just gets BAD. REALLY BAD. You should know what parts I'm talking about....the action. I liked the stuff with the tanks a bunch, but the rest of it is horrible. The last part with Bruce saying "You won't like me when I'm angry" in a foreign language had me rolling on the floor with laughter. It was just too damn silly for a cliffhanger. The CGI Hulk himself had a wide range of looks to him. Some of his shots looked really fake, and some of them looked like an actual actor was doing them. I don't know whether to applaud the effects team for that, or just yell at them for being too damn inconsistent. If you had reservations about seeing it due to the shallow trailers, check it out anyway....you might be surprised. BTW, the teaser for The Punisher was simply awesome. I hope that mother is Rated-R when it comes out...
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 I'm hyped about seeing it tonight. i just don't know if I am too fond of him being able to leap an insane distance. He's a 15 foot 700 lb green giant, and you think him leaping great distances would be far-fetched? Besides I read in one of those "All about Hulk" books that his leg strength is so great he can leap distances of 3 miles. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): I loved Stan Lee and Lou Farigno's cameo
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Yeah, that's always been the Hulk's main mode of transportation - jumping really fucking far. Well, ok, maybe not ALWAYS, because I know the character was fucked with at times (Like when he was grey, or smart) but the bottom line is, it's what the Hulk does. I'm even more interested in this film now that so many are giving it positive reviews. I would probably have seen it even if it WAS just mindless smashing, but if it's not, well then...
