Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 17, 2003 To add more realism to sporting games, I was was thinking would adding commercials to sporting games be a bad thing? Games like NFL 2K_/Madden 2004, NBA 2K_/NBA Live 2004, NHL 2K_/NHL 2004.. nothing promoting ghey products or anything, but simple commercials like pimping other sporting games by the company. i.e.: In NBA 2K4, at the end of the first quarter a commercial for NFL 2K4 is shown pimping it. OR since Sega Sports is close to ESPN, they could pimp SportsCenter. Same with EA Sports. During Madden 2004, a commercial for NBA Live 2004 is shown. It adds realism to the game AND sometimes if you're playing an insanely close game... you need a small break. Maybe you're about to attempt a game winning field goal.. AND COMMERCIAL~! You get a small break to 'calm down'. Discuss and such.
Guest fazzle Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I'm gonna go with no. All the commentary in the Sega games pimping Sportscenter out is already annoying enough to me. Don't need even more blatant commercials.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 No. There's advertising everywhere as it is. Video games are my only partial escape.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Well, there could be an option to turn them on and off if they got too annoying for you.
Guest fazzle Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Wait..you think companies would give you the option of turning their commercials off??

Guest Karnage Report post Posted June 17, 2003 NFL Fever already has the Taco Bell plays of the game or something already.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I know Triple Play '99 had a bunch of fake ad pitches, thrown by the commentators, during game play. Things like Deodorant City and Lobster Cola.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 18, 2003 All Star Baseball 2004 has all the ads in the park turned into things based on the names of people who were on the development team. One other thing to consider is the added time it would take to play a game with commercials at every break. It takes me 40 minutes or so to play a game in ASB 2004. Im not for making the game realistic in the time department. I think the way to get advertising in is by making plays of the game, replays, throw the ads in under the scoring box, etc. But commercials are just a bad idea even if it would make the game more realistic. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 18, 2003 Especially in a hockey game. I'm playing three 20 minute periods, plus looking at my stats during my intermissions. If I had to pause for breaks, I'd have to lessen the length of the periods so that the game won't take me three hours to play.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 I don't know about the newer games, but FIFA 2002 has real companies in the game.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2003 As interesting as this idea may sound, I could imagine the amount of bitching and complaining, if this idea were to ever be put to use.

If you are attempting a late-second field goal and don't want to use the pause button, just call a time-out...
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted June 19, 2003 Would you also include all those TV time-outs, too? No. If you are attempting a late-second field goal and don't want to use the pause button, just call a time-out... That adds no drama to it.
