Guest Snappy Nappy Dugout Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 (edited) Basketball: I think St. Louis needs one badly. Fuck the bobcats, St. Louis Is a good sports town. I'll say move the Clippers there. I love them here but they need something new, thier gonna always play second fiddle to the Lakers. Football: L.A. Hockey:??? MLS:??? Guest alkeiper Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Philly needs an MLS team, so I can cheer for someone.
Guest MrRant Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 First... you do know that both the Giants and the Jets play IN NEW JERSEY. Seattle could use a hockey team. Baseball really doesn't need any expansion.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Hockey: Either New Hampshire or Maine (another cold weather team) Baseball: Nevada
Guest Zero_Cool Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 UR, you have the best sig pic ever. That girl has the best ass ever. I think that people could really get into Baseball in New Orleans, if they could just make a dome they can play 81 games a year there.
Guest Snappy Nappy Dugout Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 First... you do know that both the Giants and the Jets play IN NEW JERSEY. Seattle could use a hockey team. Baseball really doesn't need any expansion. ......I Forgot about that.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 We know who needs NHL teams, which can be condensed into one city called Quebwinniford. Charlotte or Raleigh could use a baseball team. It's odd how they have hockey but no baseball. You'd think they'd like it. However baseball needs no further expansion or relocation. Same with NFL. If they're intent on an L.A. team, I'd rather it was the Cardinals or Jaguars than Colts or Vikings. If the NFL leaves the Twin Cities those people will be wicked pissed. But really they've covered everything except The Great Portland and Toronto, which has its CFL anyway and probably doesn't want our league. NBA: put the Clippers elsewhere. San Diego, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Kansas City, ANYWHERE. If they go anywhere but San Diego they should kill the nickname and jsut start fresh. I'd like a team in St. Louis, I think it could work. With the Bucks for sale maybe someone can move the Bucks and create the Spirit of St. Louis again. I just want to see those cheeseheads suffer.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Washington, DC should have a MLB franchise. The horseshit Twins left 43 years ago, and anything to stick to Peter Angelos would be nice.
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Why should DC have one? They blew Three Organizations already... FUCK this Baseball needs to be in the Nation's capital bullshit...It doesn't work...
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 The Senators always had horseshit teams. Give them the Expos and an owner who will spend money and it will work out.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Hockey: Either New Hampshire or Maine (another cold weather team) Baseball: Nevada There's not enough people in Northern New England to justify giving them a team. Even the biggest cities in NE (Manchester NH, Portland ME, Burlington VT) are too small to have a team and expect to draw more than 5-10,000 people. And I agree on Nevada. I know that they say that it could never happen due to the gambling, but I'd love to see a team play in Vegas.
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 If you build the team around XCITMENT...then they will be HUGE draws Vegas oughta have a Superbowl at some point... Can you imagine how much MOOLAH NFL would make? Portland seems to be the ideal Baseball city however... Hockey really needs to contract 4-6 teams and Move either New Jersey or Nashville to Seattle... Seattle just seems like a natural fit for hockey team as opposed to Atlanta, Tampa and Dallas...
Guest y2jailbait Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 One word, three syl'bells sucka~! IOWA! We need a football team (Its huge here)
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 One word, three syl'bells sucka~! IOWA! We need a football team (Its huge here) IOWA would reject a pro team..
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 My point with the Northern New England team was that they should have another cold weather team. Since the Bettman march south, I have wanted to see another cold weather team added. They got Minnesota a team, and it works because the kids can actually go out and play hockey. I can, but it has to be during a 5 week span when they have hockey at the Skatium. If they put a team in, say, Maine, wouldn't that draw hockey fans from Canada, as well as the rest of New England?
Guest bravesfan Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 NBA: Hawaii. Thank you. MLB: Portland (easy one). NFL: Los Angeles (a bit iffy on this, though) NHL: Seattle.
Guest CanadianChris Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Way off topic...is the chick in UR's sig Topanga from Boy Meets World?
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 If they put a team in, say, Maine, wouldn't that draw hockey fans from Canada, as well as the rest of New England? If they put a team in Halifax they can cover the Maritimes and maybe branch into Maine. But I think the rest of New England is Bruins territory. As for any team in Hawaii, travel costs make this hard.
Guest undisputedjericho Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 PLEASE no more baseball expansion. The teams are watered down as it is (Tampa Bay), and others just won't spend money (Detroit, Kansas City, Oakland). But the Expos do need a move, and a new owner so they can keep Vlad Guerrero and stay competitive in the new place.
Guest alkeiper Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Baseball can survive in Montreal, but the previous owners and now MLB have fucked the situation beyond repair.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Well than Montreal, can't have a baseball team if things are fucked up beyond repair. That's why everyone is saying the Expos should move.
Rendclaw Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Vegas would kill having a pro basketball team and football team. Hockey. Meh. Baseball certainly doesn't need more teams, and when you think about it, neither does the NBA. for a hockey team to draw the canadian crowd, it has to be close to the border... if one is put in Maine, it wouldn;t work, thought you might get some people from New Brunswick, but not many from Quebec will show.....

You'd be better served putting one in Burlington, VT rather than in Maine. It's closer to Canada than any fairly large city in Maine, and you'd need to get some border-crossers to justify it. But it's still too small of a market, regardless of the temperature of the climate, a pro sports team can't survive in a market with less than a few million people.

Not counting Green Bay, what's the smallest major-league market in the U.S.? Greater Salt Lake City, perhaps?
Guest The Tino Standard Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 You'll never get baseball in Portland. The sport is starting to come under fire for steroid problems and I think we all know about Oregon's drug testing policies... And yeah, if there was an adequate stadium there, then Vegas is just SCREAMING for a Super Bowl. And I don't think we need any more franchises added to any of the sports. I WOULD be a big proponent of a few select cases of relocation and definitely realignment for a couple sports.
Guest converge241 Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 Football: LA, a canadian team, Las Vegas, San Antonio, another New England area team Baseball: Washington , Charlotte Hockey: more canadian (sadly that wont happen anytime soon) Basketball: none i can think of id love to see a team from the ignored states like iowa and montana just for kicks
