Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 First off im a big rock mark, but his character isnt even close to what it was 2 or 3 years ago. Little by little hes actually closer to Rocky Mavia.Next thing you know he's going to whip out his old finisher the shoulder breaker and the high body press! Now he's Gilligan to Hogans Skipper. I touched on this in one of my other posts. Did you see the backstage segment monday when Hogan and Rock left to go to the match? He put his arm around hulk and they were both smiling. 2 years ago if he met up with hulk he would have put his hand in his face, asked him if he worked for the building and made him carry his luggage. Come to think of it, i cant even remember last time he wore a 5000 dollar shirt. When he brought up the rock and sock connection it brought back memories of the cool Rock so i dug out a "best of rock and sock connection" tape i watched some of it and he was a total prick to Mick Foley and the crowd ate it all up. Because it was the odd couple. And why was he a prick to Foley yet he's kissing hogans ass, i thought his name was Duane Johnson not Ed Leslie.I guess in WWf land there's a buffer period of about 3 weeks until attempted vehicular homicide is forgotten. I think thats why he's getting booed because he's slowly turning back into Rocky Mavia the blue chipper. Everyone says he's a better heel and he is, but for a year he was also a great face with a heel edge. That edge is gone i'm afraid and now that both he and Hogan are on Smackdown we can look forward to more of Hogan's sidekick. I know a lot of you guys dont like Rock (and right now i cant blame you) But do any of you guys think that he's getting more and more like the blue chipper?
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 eh, right now the wwf is fucking pathetic. more and more it's just like how wcw was in the last while of it's life. the rock being a suck up is completey against his character. it makes no sense. stephanie's at it again.........
Guest RickyChosyu Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Yeah, he's pretty much Hogan's bitch write now. I know they're the "dream team" and everything, but does that really mean that Rock has to constantly have his head up the crowd's ass to emulate Hogan? Oh well, no wonder Austin pulled out of dodge when he did.
Guest Some Guy Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 I agree Rock has fallen into WWF watered down babyface land. It happened to Austin, it just happen to HHH, it happened HBK, it's happened to Flair, it happened to Savage, and many others. Rock showed a little of the old Rock at the post NWO Raw, but has fallen back into the abyss. Rock has gotten lazy in my view, he doesn't give promos as well and doesn't execute his moves properly. A heel turn would be a good move and I think will get it. However I think it will be Rock/Hogan, and Rock will be playing Foley to Hogan's Rock.
Guest TheDames7 Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Yeah, can you imagine Austin doing any of that shit? I was watching Revenge of the Taker and Cold Day in Hell, where "The Blue Chipper" Rocky Maivia took on Savio Vega and Mankind respectively. There is such a big difference that all I could do was laugh at the cheesiness that was Rocky Maivia. Dames

I agree, it hasn't been the same since the Jericho feud ended. We were even starting to see a cooler, more heelish Rock, and then the NWO came in and it all went to hell. Oh well, there will always be the memories, I suppose.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 i look at the blue chipper to rock transition that vince can truly make anyone a star.
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 It's weird it happened so slowly that i didnt even notice untill Rock was smiling like my girlfriend at an n'sync concert, When i realized that this isnt the Rock that got me back into wrestling 4 years ago, when he was part of NOD. I gave up on wrestling when Doink and his little Dinks were running around everywhere. And one day i cought Pneumonia and I was laying up in a hospital bed and Wrestling was the only thing on. So the first thing i saw was rock make Chyna get down on her knees and tell her he would never kiss a piece of trash like her. And i havent missed an episode of Raw since. But someguy is right, Do you remember the 180 Kurt Angle made when he was a face? I shudder to think about that!
Guest TheDames7 Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 i look at the blue chipper to rock transition that vince can truly make anyone a star. But Cobain.....the people made The Rock! Dames
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 It took about one month for Angle to wear a small cowboy hat (absolutely the funniest thing ive seen in wrestling) to milkamania running wild. Some wrestlers are just heels and some are just faces. It's that simple
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 like HHH was born to be a heel...
Guest X-Factor Corperation Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 What's wrong with the Rock being a nice guy? I like that. As for Kurt Angle, his month sucking up to Austin was great. It built to the match. -Essa Rios
Guest Risk Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 A week during his "face" turn, he insulted the city on Smackdown(Washington, I think) and they still cheered him. He didn't change much in the first week. Heels and faces are boring IMO. People should just do what THEIR CHARACTERS would do all the time. In soap operas there are not always clear cut "good guys" and "bad guys". Fans like who they relate too, and who they think is right. Wrestling should be like that. Characters COULD change slowly over time, but slowly.
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Rock got over by being a prick, since he's been a nice guy he's had 69 thousand people chanting "Rocky Sucks" I do agree with you on Kurt Angle though. Everyone can say what they want about the invasion, But every week i looked forward to the Austin,Angle,McMahon segments.
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 I think i remember that risk. Wasnt it about the mayor? Im almost positive though he wasnt a face yet.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 hell yeah i loved angle and austin fighting over who vince liked more. and the competition over hugs was great.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Rock as a face doesn't necessarily bother me (though I like him better as a heel.) Rock continually using "whatcha' gonna do" more than his own stuff really makes me nauseous. It almost makes it seem like the Rock has to leech off of Hogan for heat...and that ain't even right.

Everyone can say what they want about the invasion, But every week i looked forward to the Austin,Angle,McMahon segments. I agree Risk. Yeah. My second favorite feud is Angle vs Austin. They did it great. A month as a heel, the month for the title and then the month for the title.
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 The invasion sucked, but it also produced the funniest segments. Angle cowboy hat Austin singing Ring beneath my wings Austin saying what for the first time against tazz Austin shining the light in RVD's face and interagating him Booker T VS Buff Bagwell wait i think that last one was unintentional
Guest Human Fly Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Next Smackdown! Rock should give Hogan a present and when Hulk opens it should be a big picture of the Rock. Like with Faarooq in NOD. That was classic. Also, it was classic when Rock told Test to "Know your role and go get the Rock a sandwich no cheese"
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Dont forget the jumping austin head for ring beneath my wings
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 i have that segment on tape and i watch it at least once a week. it's fucking classic.
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Also, it was classic when Rock told Test to "Know your role and go get the Rock a sandwich no cheese" That's absolutely friggin histerical human fly i never heard that one.

WHOOO! -Essa Rios
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Austin: Do you know what my watch is saying Rvd: You know, i've never heard that watch another classic
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 i loved when austin used the What's on hugh morus Austin: who do you think you are H.M.:.... Austin: WHAT? Do You Think Your funny H.M.: ..... Austin What? do you think your humorus? H.M.:.... Austin: WHAT? fucking classic
Guest Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Maybe im the only one but i liked the invasion, i mean sure it wasnt what everyone dreamed it would be, but it was a hell of a lot better than the "McMahon Helmsley era" or the draft that made absolutely no sence.
Guest X-Factor Corperation Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Maybe im the only one but i liked the invasion, i mean sure it wasnt what everyone dreamed it would be, but it was a hell of a lot better than the "McMahon Helmsley era" or the draft that made absolutely no sence. The McMahon Helmsley era was great! Now that I think about it even though they wasted the best angle, the invasion wasn't bad.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 Outside of Austin, RVD, and Angle, I don't think there's a salvagable thing that came from how badly the WWF botched the inVasion.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 28, 2002 Report Posted March 28, 2002 i agree. angle, rvd, angle were great but everything else was pure shit
