In addition, we'll go "Outside the Ropes" with Kurt Angle, and Nunzio picks his favorite classic match: Bob Backlund vs. Iron Sheik, Dec. 26, 1983. You're not going to want to miss Confidential this Saturday night at 11/10 CT on TNN! Backlund in action! and my first official thread! and Paul London in action!
Guest Ray Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Bob Backlund vs. Iron Sheik, Dec. 26, 1983 Damn, I've never seen that one. I might have to actually watch Confidential for once.
Guest BobBacklundRules Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I hate it when they clip the from the vault matches, was last week's clipped?
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Yeah, they clipped Sting/Flair. Backlund/Sheik went 13 minutes so that'll be clipped too I'm sure. IMO, it was kind of a dull match as it didn't quite seem that the crowd was expecting anything Earht shattering to happen until Towel Toss 83 occured. Still seems surreal to hear The Fink announce, "The winner of this bout . . . and the NEW World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion, The Iron SHEIK!"
Guest Choken One Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 MSG retreospective sounds nice and Flair Vs Kangeroos would hit ***.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Why is Brock Lesnar's F-5 so devastating? We'll dissect the maneuver this week on the show. Because Marc Mero used it, duh. In addition, we'll go "Outside the Ropes" with Kurt Angle, and Nunzio picks his favorite classic match: Bob Backlund vs. Iron Sheik, Dec. 26, 1983. Uh-oh, I think they're trying to refresh the audience to the fact that "throwing in the towel" is a valid form of submission.
Guest Choken One Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Or that Boring Amatuer wrestlers DO exist...Either way...
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 If they wanted a "towel tosser" they could've used the I Quit Match b/w Bret and Backlund from Survivor Series 1994
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Leaping Lanny Poffo reference!!!!!
Lil' Bitch Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Why is Brock Lesnar's F-5 so devastating? We'll dissect the maneuver this week on the show. Because Marc Mero used it, duh. The TKO is slightly different from the F-5.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I remember the night Marc Mero re-debuted as "Marvelous", he used the TKO on a taped edition of RAW. Well, WCW got wind of that and had DDP do basically the same thing into a diamond cutter on the first hour of Nitro
Guest ftwdevils2469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 The TKO goes into a diamond cutter type of motion. The F5 swings into a DDT.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 ^ The F-5 is basically a spinning facebuster and with a guy like Brock doing it, its very believable for it to be such a "devastating move". WCW got wind of that and had DDP do basically the same thing into a diamond cutter on the first hour of Nitro I always like the Diamond Cutter better. I guess because DDP had more ways of performing it, see WCW/NWO Revenge for further reference.
Guest KanadianKrusty Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 A-Train won... dammit, and I'm liking that Orlando Jordan guy, he's ain't bad at all.
Guest buffybeast Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Why was A-train so pissed off tonight?
Guest ftwdevils2469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 A-Train can't even job on the B shows.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 anybody else notice that Orlando Jones' music is the Kats' w/ the cat growls cut out?
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 did he just say there were 9 continents?
Guest JMA Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 did he just say there were 9 continents? Yes... but he also mentioned the Super 8 tournament.
Guest ftwdevils2469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Wasn't Matt supposed to get a push after the Rey feud ended?
Guest KanadianKrusty Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Well, I guess wrestling Paul London is a step up.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Wasn't Matt supposed to get a push after the Rey feud ended? I'm hoping (and I'm pretty sure) Matt will be in The US Title Tournament. Weird how Matt's a heel yet he had the crowd going for him, but those 2 Twists of Fates were nice.
Guest ftwdevils2469 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Well, I guess wrestling Paul London is a step up. Yeah from a Main Event match on Smackdown to a match with a guy that even on TNA is a mid carder at best.
DrVenkman PhD Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Well I've never seen any of London in TNA but I'm convinced he's great from that match. I noticed he got a lot more offense in than the usual talent enhancement non-contracted job guys.
