Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Really....just looking at the previews....do you think anything good could come of it?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 22, 2003 It's called From Justin to Kelly. It made 2.9 mil this weekend
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Good grief. How did it even make that much? It looks almost bad enough that even teeny boppers would hate it.
Guest Marshall Report post Posted June 22, 2003 Looks like it could be good enough to make your own jokes while watching it.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 22, 2003 The only thing this movie was good enough for was to kill off American Idol winners from doing things other than sing and make cds. Of course Im guessing Scooby Doo 2 will probably still be a big hit so for all the good this did, it won't mean anything.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted June 22, 2003 It debuted in 11th Place w/ $2.9Mil... SAD. I read reviews saying that: 1. Worst "Beach Type" Movie EVER 2. Worst Movie of the year 3. Worst than "The Real Cancun"
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 23, 2003 To think that American Idol has a huge fan base from the tv show yet the movie fails. Well that shows just how far they can expand the American Idol brand name.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I've never seen Idol or anything, but I just don't think this was advertised. Granted, it looks extremely dumb, but I think a lack of attendence is with lack of promotion. I can't remember seeing a trailer for this on TV or before a movie. I wouldn't have even known it opened had the person in front of me in line the other day not had gone. I was going to opening Hulk, they were going to that opening. I usually know when stuff opens, but that one seems to lack promotion.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Yes...because so many people expected this movie to be a huge hit...it is comical that it failed. Oh wait...no one expected this to even resemble a hit and it failed exactly like we expected it to. So...where's the comedy in a movie failing when everyone said it would do just that? LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I think they're laughing cause it's fun to laugh at bad movies failing miserably. Especially ones based on the big current fads of today.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 23, 2003 And to think they were trying to bring back the beach movie musical genre from the 60s to todays audience that watch the American Idol show. To bad nobody told the producers that the star of the show is Simon and not the contestents.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I always found more humor in majorly hyped and promoted movies failing. Maybe it's just me
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I always found more humor in majorly hyped and promoted movies failing. Maybe it's just me Nope, I agree. That's what I was saying in my post. As horrible as it seems, it still would've done better with some publicity, I've seen virtually none. The heavily hyped bombs, those are the ones to really laugh at.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I always found more humor in majorly hyped and promoted movies failing. Maybe it's just me Who hyped it? I haven't seen one trailer, one commercial, not even a poster, NOTHING. It's not hyped and it can't make any money if nobody knows it exists. Besides, it appears the studio didn't expect to make money from it anyway. The original plan was just to throw it into the theaters and then put out on DVD 2 months later. It got pushed back to 4 or 5 months though because the major chains wouldn't play a movie they knew would be on DVD so soon.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I've seen MAD commercials for it here in Wheeling. It's all over the tube. I still didn't se it, as I'm a 23 year-old dude, and not a 13 year-old girl. I would like to point out that I think Kelly Clarkson is rather hot, but that alone won't make me see the flick.
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Kelly Clarkson is hot and can sing...but I doubt she can act. From the trailer, Kelly and Justin just look like they are trying real hard to seem cool, with dumb one liners. And EVERYONE knows musicals fail unless they are directed by the guy who did Moulon Rouge
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I've seen MAD commercials for it here in Wheeling. Wheeling? Which state?
Guest notJames Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I feel no sympathy for anyone who would pay to see such tripe. I also feel utter contempt for them, as it perpetuates the endless cycle of movie executives churning out shitty movies ad nauseum. If people would stop seeing these celluloid abominations, maybe those Hollywood assholes would stop making them. But I doubt it. Stupid humans.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I'm waiting for next year's "From Ruben to Clay." That's going to be the far better movie. And Kelly Clarkston is hot. And even hotter by not going out of her way to look hot.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted June 27, 2003 Kelly Clarkson is only hot when she has makeup on. I've seen her without it and she is not a natural beauty, IMO.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted June 27, 2003 I'm waiting for next year's "From Ruben to Clay." That's going to be the far better movie. Gay porn?
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted June 27, 2003 After the disastrous 2.9 million gross and an embarassing 11th place at last weekends box office, I don't think you're going to see any more Amercian Idol movies for quite awhile.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 27, 2003 Clone Highschool starring Clay as Barry Manalow and Ruban as Barry White.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted June 28, 2003 I'm waiting for next year's "From Ruben to Clay." That's going to be the far better movie. Gay porn? No, it'll be a buddy cop movie where Reuben and Clay play detectives that go around solving murder mysteries. They'll have a power where Reuben can hide Clay in one of his fat rolls allowing for SUPER STEALTH~!
