Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 "--On Wednesday's NWA TNA PPV, I'm told it's 75% that the cage match with Christopher Daniels & Elix Skipper defending the NWA tag titles against America's Most Wanted will open the show. The main reason is because it's far less time consuming on a live PPV show to take down a cage than put up a cage. It also gives them a little more leeway on time in case, like last week, a segment goes way too long and all the matches that follow have to be sliced and diced. All four guys were working together last Wednesday on ideas for the match to involve cage spots and those within the promotion think it may be one of the better matches of the year." Thank God. At first I though...this match should be last!...then the part about matches losing time due to segments running long made me rethink that. I think this is going to be a good one.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Honestly, now they have all the time they need. I know they have to stay true to format, but I'd rather the cage match ran a bit long than have to sit through, say, New Jack vs. Ron Harris.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 That's what I mean too. There's no excuse for them to give this match less than 20 minutes. They made it the reason to order this week...and this is going to be AMW's big win. A blowoff in a cage with two teams that click every time they wrestle...with no excuse to be short. They seem to be going out of there way to make sure they can't screw this up.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 AMW is going over? DAMN IT!
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Good call. I hope we have an actual main event though and not a Russo 20 minute blabsession to close the show.
Guest Nanks Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 AMW will have to go over coz Daniels is going back to Japan and Low-Ki is still injured. Besides they have to pull off the win after being the partners-in-conflict for so long
Guest eirejmcmahon Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Sounds good to me - the only problem I see is that it'll be hard to keep the crowd into the rest of the show after kicking off with the cage match.
King Cucaracha Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Well, in a way this is kinda one of their biggest matches ever. First ever cage match, I expected it to be main event. But hopefully the rest of the card will live up to the cage match if it actually is first match.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I just hope they stay true on this and don't allow any silly run-ins or have someone break through the bottom of the ring.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I think that is an awesome idea to have the cage match open the show. They should have an NWA title defense against a not so serious competitor and possible an X division title match too. They should give the cage match at least a half hour though.....
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 You know, id mark out like a little bitch if Daniels debuted Curry Man in NWATNA on his return to the states Lets face it, if Sharkboy can get away with his gimmicks, Daniels can do Curry Man
