Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Just to add to this... Can an franchise REFUSE to have a player inducted into the Hall with said cap?
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I doubt it anymore. The Hall seems intent on making the final choice, no matter what anyone thinks.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 So the Hall could be assholes and put Larkin in a Cardinals uniform if they wanted to? Or does the player actually HAVE to play for the team? Is there a ruling to how long you have to play for said team to be inducted into with said cap?
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 25, 2003 they can't do that and won't do that. Tony LaRussa was right when he said the hall should make the final choice, has they won't let personal grudges get in the way like a player might do.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Let's just see if Mr. LaRussa will be singing their praises when they put him in as a "A" and not Cardinal...
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Dan Patrick asked him that question, and he said he could understand why the Hall would choose the A's. Does LaRussa make it at this point? He's only won 1 World Series title.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 but won a bunch of games...I thought I heard he has the all time highest win Percentage or something...Dont take my word on it tho...
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 25, 2003 LaRussa's close to 2,000 Wins. I think he'll make it. I just curious since lot's of people still have questions about Bobby Cox.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Why? Because the guy is so fucking boring and "CHOKED"... Cox will get in but no one will notice...
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Piazza is a good player, but not HOF worthy. What??? Piazza's the best hitting catcher of all time. He's a 10 time all star, he's hit more home runs than any other catcher, and he's a .321 career hitter. His career slugging percentage (.576) is 14th all time. That's a higher slugging percentage than Mays, Mantle, Musial, or even Hank Aaron. If Piazza doesn't make the Hall of Fame, then you can't put any catcher in the Hall with a straight face. As a side note, the Mets are really killing my opinions of players. Seeing Alomar and Piazza on this team is making me question their HOF worthiness when they were great players and are certainly HOF locks. Piazza is the greatest hitting catcher of all time and Alomar was the best 2B for a decade, yet I see them as dead weight on their current team. A common fallacy of sportswriters. When the team is struggling, blame the best players. Piazza before his injury was the best hitter on the team.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2003 LaRussa doesn;t care about which hat McGwire wears because wasn;t he the manager during both events (breaking the HR record and winning the championship)?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 2, 2003 Yes he was indeed. I'm sure he rather see his A's legancy represented but wouldn't protest either way.
