Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted June 24, 2003 I wasn't home last night, and I couldn't find any detailed reports of the Foley tribute from the ECW guys last night at MSG..... anyone want to give me details on what was said and who was there? Thanks...
Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 24, 2003 As far as ECW guys, The Dudley Boyz, Spike, Tommy Dreamer, Al Snow & Rob Van Dam were out there. Austin introduced everyone. Foley recieved a framed Hardcore title. Then Vince McMahon came out and said thanks to Foley and they hugged. Then Foley thanked "All these superstars....and Al Snow." They also showed a Mic Foley video package, which you can probably get off of Kazaa by now.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted June 24, 2003 I wasn't home last night, and I couldn't find any detailed reports of the Foley tribute from the ECW guys last night at MSG..... anyone want to give me details on what was said and who was there? Thanks... Sure, last night Austin came to the ring and then introduced Mick Foley to the crowd at MSG. He then came to the ring and Austin said that he wanted to give him something. Foley initially took it like Austin was going to stunner him but Steve said it was something else. Then RVD's music hit, and RVD, Dreamer, The Dudleyz, Spike, Al Snow all came to the ring with a framed version of the former WWF Hardcore championship trophy. They then proceeded to show a video of Mankind/Mick/Dude Love/Cactus jack footage on the Titantron and then gave him the title. Then before you know it Vince McMahon's music hits and he starts strutting to the ring. Vince then grabs the mic and says that he is going to say the two words that everyone wants to say to him. THANK YOU. That is actually what happened and it was truly an awesome moment that the WWE had for Foley last night.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted June 24, 2003 It was great tribute last night. Very, very classy. Random question: Were Foley and RVD ever in ECW at the same time?
Internet Warfare 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2003 I dont think so.
Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted June 24, 2003 They used the song "So Far Away" off Staind's 14 Shades Of Grey album for the tribute, which was done quite nicely. It was just a classy way to send him off. Well done, WWE.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted June 24, 2003 It was great tribute last night. Very, very classy. Random question: Were Foley and RVD ever in ECW at the same time? Briefly. Van Dam debuted at House Party '96. Foley left after the February or early March event that year. EDIT:House Party was the January event, btw. It was where Douglas returned, and Public Enemy had their farewell match before shipping off to WCW.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted June 24, 2003 And then they ruined it all by continuing Orton's semi-god push.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 24, 2003 They had all ECW guys in the ring, but no ECW footage. The only 'foreign' footage that I can recall is a brief (blinked and you missed it) shot of Foley's KOTDM trophy win. If this was a career retrospective, then should have included the first half of his career.

If this was a career retrospective, then should have included the first half of his career. That's what I don't get. There should've been ECW footage (and WCW, for that matter), unless more time was needed to clear the ECW sale, or something. Oh, and Stevie was missing. I know he's a heel, and that could've been the reason he was kept out of there, but he had more history with Foley than most of the others.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 24, 2003 I dont think it HAD anything to do with ECW...More like those guys are the "HARDCORE" WWE wrestlers...and have been his friends over the years
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted June 24, 2003 You're right Choken. It didn't have anything to do with ECW. That was all the hardcore WWF wrestlers.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2003 Are there any wrestlers who made their name in ECW on Smackdown apart from Rhyno?
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2003 At first, I thought Austin was going to reinstate the Hardcore title, but too many fans' disappointments, that wasn't the case (yes pun intended). Of course the tribute was nice and very well done as usual, but yeah, I was a little peeved.

Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 24, 2003 It would've been cool to see Terry Funk or Mikey Whipwreck show up for the occasion.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 24, 2003 Why wasn't Maven or Booker T or Goldust there? All former Hardcore Champions, all faces... Oh, but they weren't in ECW.

Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted June 25, 2003 If it was a true Foley tribute, they would have had other guys that helped make Mick's career. Sting, Vader, Rock, Undertaker, even Triple-H. It would have been great to see Funk and/or Heyman out there too.
Guest FatKane Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Why wasn't Maven or Booker T or Goldust there? All former Hardcore Champions, all faces... Oh, but they weren't in ECW. Well then why wheren't Victoria, Molly and Jack Doan out there either? Because they aren't regarded as Hardcore wrestlers. It doesn't really have anything to do with the hardcore title itself but the reputation of being hardcore. It's true that many of the ECW guys have carried their hardcore monikers over from ECW, though. The Dudleys haven't held the Hardcore title and yet they were right out there with everyone because they use tables. Are there any wrestlers who made their name in ECW on Smackdown apart from Rhyno? Tajiri, Guido, Tazz.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Spike Dudley (8x's) is known as being a Hardcore wrestler? Al Snow (6 x's) is known as being a Hardcore wrestler? Goldust, who held the Hardcore title 9 times, is not? The Dudleys aren't known for being Hardcore - they use tables and that's it. The only person in that ring who is truly associated with Hardcore Wrestling was Tommy Dreamer. I believe the fans chanting "E-C-Dub" proves my point. Do you SERIOUSLY consider Goldust a hardcore wrestler? I guess that's what happens when you tune off the product for so long, you COMPLETELY lose touch. The number of times a wrestler's held that shitty belt means NOTHING. Goldust is NOT hardcore.
