Games you never beat

Recommended Posts

The game that tops my list is Eternal Champions on Genesis. I think this was one of the more underrated games, but thats not important. The most important thing is that I could get to the Eternal Champion with every character...(well except blade...he sucked) and never could beat this guy. This and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on Nintendo will be the games that forever owned be. Because I don't think I will be playing either of them ever again.

Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7. I've gotten to the end of both of those but was bored by then and just stopped.

Metal Gear for the NES, Sonic and Knuckles on the Genesis, Goldeneye on 64, Tekken of any system.

Wizardry 2 on the NES. I just can't get anywhere. I spend hours creating characters so that I can have a party full of characters with ultra-high stats, and then spend hours and hours levelling on the first floor of the dungeon until I'm ridiculously overlevelled. Then I head down to the second floor... and my party never returns. Ever. It doesn't matter how good their stats and equipment are or how overlevelled they are, I always get lost, or get teleported somewhere, or run into a trap that kills half the people. The damn game is impossible.

Also Xenogears. I plowed through horrible dungeon after horrible dungeon, but when I got through the Tower of Babel, I swore that if any other dungeon was that bad, I'd give up on the game. Two hours later, I was in a spaceship with about sixty identical rooms and about seven mandatory enemy encounters every time you entered into a room. After about 100 identical, tedius battles and no end in sight, the game was promptly removed from the PSX and sold to Funcoland.

You never beat Goldeneye...really...wow...

I never beat it on all difficulties. Some of that shit was way too hard.

I think it's just because I SUCKED at the game. I never really "got it" with the controls and the levels.

And I had a group of friends that "got it" and spent hours and hours killing me over and over, until I decided that I hated the game and vowed to never play it again.

Spiderman vs the kingpin on the sega gamegear. EVERY time you jumped in electros level you would struck by lighting and sent to the start of the stage. Not only that you only had one life, a time limit and after every level you had to sacrifice your time for health.

Actually, that reminds me of the utter ass whoopings I would take in Maximum Carnage. I never beat that game. I don't even know how far I was really getting. I got to the stage after the Fantastic Four Lab and up to a roof top where I take a shit kicking.

Xenogears naturally...I had it forever gathering dust, until I realized that lots of people actually loved it so I was able to sell it for slightly less than I bought it for.

Contra Hard Corps: Couldn't even get past the first level.

Final Fantasy Tactics. I leveled up a bunch but never got around to actually finishing the game.

Kid Chameleon for Genesis. That game never seemed to end. I don't know anybody who has beaten that game without using cheat codes.

I agree on Ripper about the first TMNT game on NES. I could never get past the part where you had to defuse all of the bombs.

Well, on TMNT, I would ususllly get tired of running around that freaking city in the turtle van and just turn it off because I couldn't find Splinter. i found him ONCE and got my ass handed to me by the giant mouser. I have never played again.

Coming from someone who beat it about a month ago. You didn't miss much. And the last few guys were very weak.

I could never beat TMNT either. Haven't beaten every level in Goldeneye on 007 difficulty and haven't seen the last level, so I probably won't be defeating that one either. (Facing Jaws on 007 hardness? Yeah. Right.)

I don't think I ever won Castlevania 3. Dracula had three different forms, each harder than the last. And unlike the others in the series, you had to fight your way through an entire level to get to him every time. A really, really hard level. Unfuckingbelievably frustrating.

And oh yeah, Contra: Shattered Soldiers. I used to play and win the old NES Contra all the time, for fun. The new one got me throwing the controller and quitting by the second level.

In recent memory, Max Payne for PS2. I played it for about a week and got completely bored with it.

That part was easy, tho you couldn't do it with one guy. After that it was hard as fuck, because I never knew where the hell I was supposed to go.

I could never find all of the bombs on time. The electricity beams didn't help matters either.

Ninja Turtles for NES... has ANYONE ever beat the game? I think its one of those games that just loops once you make it so far...

never beat JAWS for NES either... I keep trying though. I normally forget which button does what during the final scene, so I waste one or two of my attacks on that

someday, I'd like to get ahold of Maximum Carnage and finally beat that game... one night I made it VERY far... but then hit the reset button by accident while strechting out! :(

never beat Donkey Kong 64... I bought that game during the 'hype period' and man, that one was a downer

never beat Fire Pro... might need to learn to read Japanese for that one

Actually yes, I have a group of friends that are hardcore into trying to absolutely master NES games, and they set bizarre goals for themselves (like beating Zelda 1 with nothing but the basic sword until they finally needed to get the master sword to fight Ganon). They held a tourney to see who could beat TMNT in the fastest time. I don't remember what the time was, but they all beat it. It's possible, it's just really damn hard.

I beat TMNT on the NES as well. I loved it but there are harder games out there. The hardest part for me was when you were roaming the city and didn't know what to do. It took me a while to figure out there was a jump down in the sewers that looks like you can't make it.

J ingus: Contra Shattered Soldier is very tough but doable especially once you know what to do. Castlevania III is just insane though! One of the hardest games I've ever beaten.

Games I never beat: These are just mostly games I'm not too fond off. I love insane video game chanllanges but I hate Plok on the SNES because it would take forever to beat and then there would be a bug in the game like getting stuck in a wall which would just drive you insane. So for anyone out there: Stay far, far away from this game.

There are TONS of games I've never beaten, before.

TMNT (NES, of course)

GoldenEye

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Super Mario Bros 1, 2, 3 (Yes you read that correctly)

Spider-Man/Venom - Separation Anxiety

Star Wars: Starfighter (got to the last level, but never could pass it)

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

And that's all I'm gonna list for now, too many games to list.

I've never played anything I didn't get all the way through. It may take forever, I may bust a blood vessel, I may get damned to hell for the amount of cussing I do and I may break a lot of controllers, but I'm gonna keep at it until I do it or I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of it.

What really makes me feel weird is that now I go back and play the NES game I used to play when I was a kid and I have no clue how I beat all those damn things. Compared to the games of today, those NES games are extremely hard based simply on the fact that most of the early ones don't have a save option of any kind. These days I can't play a game for longer than an hour at a time without getting sick of it and needing a break. Now I play the NES games today and I'm asking myself how did I do that shit? How did I sit there on my ass playing a Nintendo game for 8, 9, 10 hours at a time just so I could see a crappy text ending tell me that I saved the princess?

Luckily games aren't like that anymore. It used to take me weeks to get through NES, SNES, Genesis games. But ever since they moved on to the "next generation" consoles, it's never taken me more than one week to beat anything I've played besides Morrowind. Games are way too easy and short today. You would think with games being stored on CDs and DVDs that games would be long as hell, but you're still lucky to get 10 levels. I remember Metal Gear on NES to me was a pretty hard game and it took me a while to get the hang of it. As a matter of fact I remember when I first got it that it was SO hard I took it back to Toys R Us and got a refund. It wasn't until a couple of years later that I got it again that I could do it. I rented the "new" Metal Gear for PS1 when it came out and beat it the afternoon I got it in about 4 hours of gameplay. About 30 minutes of getting down the controls and then after learning how to play I just mowed right through it. Games are just insanely easy these days. Playing online is the only way you can get any difficulty anymore. And hell, that swings it too far the other way cause you got all those people that become obsessed with playing online games and they just slaughter you.

I've conquered this game only ONCE, and it was with the robo-fighter Rax. Such a cool gimmick for a fighter back in the day.

Only game I feel like nominating here is RC Pro Am from the original NES. Who in the blue hell beat THIS game?

Oh god yes...that game..who the HELL beat that. I would get pretty far, but then there would be this one car that would just TEAR ass out the gate and pretty much be uncatchable.

ANd nothing sucks more ass than the Oil slick, crash..oil slick...crash...oil slick...crash.. Parts of the game.

On eternal Champions...how was the ending for Rax. The stories for how each character died was SO well done, you actually wanted to beat it with all of them because you felt sorry for them. That game was absolutly amazing, with its board finishers and its incredibly large amount of attacks you could perform and the great character designs...

You know, I might just have to find this game.
