Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Okay, last week, after I threw a shitfit because Angle's return reached a third shitty week, you all told me that it would "get better next week" when Angle finally looked strong and won the match for his team. He was taken out of the match with a double chokeslam. He STILL looks like the weak link, an he STILL hasn't done anything to make himself look like a world title contender. So... Explanations?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Which contains such a thought out, informative, and useful reply!
Guest HungryJack Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I dunno...the fact that he came back from a broken neck after about 2 months out would leave him a weak link in my mind.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I dunno...the fact that he came back from a broken neck after about 2 months out would leave him a weak link in my mind. Why would you push a weak link character into a main event feud?
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 AS has the right to complain. Stone Cold looked stronger when he last came back and he isn't evev an in ring performer. Same goes with Taker, Show, Hogan, and HHH coming back from injury
Guest HungryJack Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 You'd push a weak link in a main event feud because he was a main eventer when he left. Crowds aren't gonna buy Angle fighting Shannon Moore.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 You'd push a weak link in a main event feud because he was a main eventer when he left. Crowds aren't gonna buy Angle fighting Shannon Moore. Then just don't push him as a weak link. It accomplises nothing and helps no one.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 How was Angle the weak link tonight? He got double chokeslammed and the guy in Show's other hand was Brock Lesnar. So are they both weak links? You know, Kurt Angle isnt the only guy thats not being booked very strong right now.....why don't you change it up for once and start a thread on how Rhyno and Benoit are made to look weak, or John Cena who basically dropped off the face of the earth, or how about Kanyon who wasn't given SHIT in his return.....not even a fuckin entrance.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I also think the fact that the guy who is going to be challenging Lesnar for the title had his first main event match since his return play second fiddle to the worst angle on SD since the Al Wilson debacle also ticks off AS.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Kanyon returned? How was Angle the weak link tonight? It's the fourth week since his return, he's been layed out something like five times, saved three times and STILL hasn't accomplished anything that makes me think "wow, what a world title contender. This week wasn't as offensive as others, but nothing improved.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I also think the fact that the guy who is going to be challenging Lesnar for the title had his first main event match since his return play second fiddle to the worst angle on SD since the Al Wilson debacle also ticks off AS. Yup, just like the way Angle vs. Lesnar at WMXIX played second fiddle to Vince vs. Hogan

I haven't even gotten to that yet. Yup, just like the way Angle vs. Lesnar at WMXIX played second fiddle to Vince vs. Hogan Every week leading up to it it did.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 ^ Well, obviously since Hogan/McMahon are the ones that skyrocketed the company to epic proportions, but we all know what the better match was.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I really enjoyed that match right up until the end. Some really neat psychology. Yep. Oh, and Angle is looking horribly midcardish right now.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 What a brilliant topic! Why is Frederick Douglass in place of Freddie Blassie? You're an enigma wrapped in a conundrum surrounded by a thick layer of unpleasantness.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Oh, and Angle is looking horribly midcardish right now. I called this like three weeks after he got hurt. They'd make him a midcarder within weeks.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Which contains such a thought out, informative, and useful reply! As opposed to the majority of your responses to anything about Test or Kane or Sean O'Haire, right? His performance was shit from a dog. That one in particular just totally blistered my take on reality. This week wasn't as offensive as others, but nothing improved. It was less offensive. Every week leading up to it it did. You would see it that way. Why is Frederick Douglass in place of Freddie Blassie? Yeah ... of course you would like to know.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 As opposed to the majority of your responses to anything about Test or Kane or Sean O'Haire, right? QUOTE (from another the first Piper thread) His performance was shit from a dog. That one in particular just totally blistered my take on reality. I didn't enter that thread questioning its value. It was less offensive. i sux @ grmarz You would see it that way. So would the cover of th DVD and Raw magazine, and anyone actually watcing Smackdown.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I didn't enter that thread questioning its value. Oh, sorry. I didn't know it wasn't as well looked-upon as negating opinions with the blunt statement of my own. Pale imitations: Cool, maybe now we get a little Test push. COOL?!?!?! Oh God no. We don't deserve that. Damn, Kane's ruined. This is awful. It's Kane. Who cares? Exchanges exciting enough to be found the week after Christmas. i sux @ grmarz You know, reading that back ... I can't make left or tails of what the hell I was trying to say there. So would the cover of th DVD and Raw magazine, and anyone actually watcing Smackdown. I remember Smackdown being pretty generous to both. And maybe Hogan and Vince got the all-important RAW Magazine cover story, but they didn't get the main event. The DVD is kind of after-the-fact.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I remember Smackdown being pretty generous to both. And maybe Hogan and Vince got the all-important RAW Magazine cover story, but they didn't get the main event. Did you go into that show thinking Brock/Angle was going to be the main? Even the "Mania rundowns" on the shows leading up had Hogan/Vince OMG 20 YEARS IN THE BAH GWD IN HEAVEN GOOD LORD MAKING! going last. Mania.com had Hogan/Vince as the main as well.

Then why didn't they make it the main event? And I did think Angle and Brock would be the final match.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 To be honest? I think it was a WM day decission to give Angle the ME in case he never wrestled again.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 The same reason they made Jericho/HHH main event - the title match comes last.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 The same reason they made Jericho/HHH main event - the title match comes last. But it's not like they couldn't have broken away from that if they wanted to. To be honest? I think it was a WM day decission to give Angle the ME in case he never wrestled again. Brick wall, and that's that. And thanks for abandoning your attempts to bring upon me injury via insult. Well, matter of fact ... you thank yourself. Me doing the thanking is just me being a gentleman.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 WM 18 - HHH vs. Jericho (title) WM 17 - Rock vs. Austin (title) WM 16 - HHH vs. BS vs. Rock vs. Foley (title) WM 15 - Rock vs. Ausitn (title) WM 14 - Austin vs. HBK (title) WM 13 - Taker vs. Nash (title) WM 12 - HBK vs. Hart (title) WM 11 - LT vs. Bam Bam WM 10 - Hart vs. Yoko (title) WM 9 - Hart/Hogan vs. Yoko (title) WM 8 - Hogan vs. Sid WM 7 - Hogan vs. Slaughter (title) WM 6 - Hogan vs. Warrior (title) WM 5 - Hogan vs. Savage (title) WM 4 - Savage vs. MDM (title) WM 3 - Hogan vs. Andre (title) WM 2 - Hogan vs. KKB (title) WM 1 - Hogan/T vs. Piper/Orndorff -There was only 3 times in WM history that the Title took a backseat for another match. WM 1 included the champion, Hogan. WM 8 had Hogan politik his way into the ME. WM 11 had celebrity involvement. Given that Hogan/McMahon wasn't a Tag Match, or Hogan not having the juice to get into the final match of the card, or the fact that neither Hogan or McMahon is a traditional high-profile "celebrity", and finally the fact that the WWE had gone 7 straight WM's without a non-title match ME'ing - I think they put themselves into a position where they couldn't have a non-title match on top. Of course, instances of Undercard matches upstaging the ME in terms of hype is not that foreign at all given that last year they did it with Hogan vs. Rock and made the conscious decision to put the title as the ME - which carried over to this event.
LooseCannon25 Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Who the fuck cares where the Angle vs. Brock match was on the card. The bottom line is that it was the WWE Title Match , was last on the card instead of HHH vs. Booker T,which was also a world title match, and got hyped up to be the greatest match in WWE history. The problem is that Anglesault will never be happy with what the WWE does with Kurt Angle. He hasn't had such a bad career being a Tag Champ, multiple time IC champ, European champ, WWf World champ, WWE champion, held 2 titles at once, King of The Ring winner.
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Because its more important to Push Big show for the 5 time in a space of 6 months and try to make him a Giant after 2 or 3 years of making him look like a bitch at the expense of Better more valid wrestlers whom would probably make more money matches which will draw more wrestling fans to the product without him. Still... Big show is more Entertaining atheletic and more of a wrestler than say.... Nathan Jones.
Guest nikowwf Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Big Show double choke slamming BOTH Brock and Angle didn't bother me. Mr. Fucking America fighting off Big Show AFTER he dispatched both of them pissed me off massively. Mr. America is NOT going to be the main event of the next PPV. Brock will be, probably with Angle. Yet, they protect him more, even though everyone will still love him even if he lose every single week. dumbass booking 101 niko
