Guest MrRant Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I would say Star Trek. Everything from the sound effects (Red Alert, the door opening WHOOSH, and the phaser sound seems to be the most used) from the show, endless Amok Time battles to character parodies.. Hell... half of the Futurama episodes have some part Star Trek in them. Especially the one with the heads of the original crew (Welshie cracked me up). I constantly see references to Star Trek in many movies and TV shows. Your opinion?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Star Wars has gotta be up there, too.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Not necessarily the most. Animal House's end credits, where they tell us what happens with the characters. How many movies have used that ending since than.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Animcal House took that from American Graffiti. See, things get parodied so much people can't remember what the originator was anymore.
Guest razazteca Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Was Ferris Bueller the 1st movie that had the main character talk to the camera? Everybody does that now.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Was Ferris Bueller the 1st movie that had the main character talk to the camera? Everybody does that now. That would be 1927's "The Jazz Singer" Hell, James Bond did it in 1969's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" Speaking of which, how many action heroes have ripped off the "darkly funny one-liner after killing someone" that started in "Dr. No"
Guest Mattdotcom Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 The Matrix was parodied in EVERY FUCKING MOVIE MADE after it came out, and just yesterday I saw where I could download the Matrix Reloaded Parody from Scary Movie 3. So the cycle begins anew I suppose. Out of all time, I'm with MrRant and Spiff. Its either Star Trek/Wars.
Guest razazteca Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 But the Jazz Singer was the 1st "talkie" and the talking was done in a song, right. It was not like the Jazz Singer was asking the audience rhetorical questions.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 But the Jazz Singer was the 1st "talkie" and the talking was done in a song, right. It was not like the Jazz Singer was asking the audience rhetorical questions. Yes, he talked to the audience. "You ain't heard nothing yet, folks." It was the first time a movie had broken "The fourth wall" Plus, as I said Bond said "This never happened to the other fellow" in reference to Lazenby replacing Connery in OHMSS so you're STILL wrong.
Guest razazteca Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I'm never wrong Mr Zsasz I don't expect you to talk facts I expect you to be banned Anyway I still think the way Ferris Bueller talked to the camera has become a cliche just like the James Bond one liners are. Ferris Bueller > Heathers > High Fidelity
Guest Vyce Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Birth of a Nation. Waittaminute, they made a Scary Movie 3? People still pay to see that shit?
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I'm never wrong Mr Zsasz I don't expect you to talk facts I expect you to be banned Anyway I still think the way Ferris Bueller talked to the camera has become a cliche just like the James Bond one liners are. Ferris Bueller > Heathers > High Fidelity They've done that in like play ever, you know. (Have a narrator who talks to the audience.) Ferris Bueller wasn't the first. Not even close
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I'm never wrong Mr Zsasz I don't expect you to talk facts I expect you to be banned Anyway I still think the way Ferris Bueller talked to the camera has become a cliche just like the James Bond one liners are. Ferris Bueller wasn't the first. Not even close Shakespeare is the root of all stage action.
Guest starvenger Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I was gonna say the "Black Ninja Attack", but it's more of a cliche. I've seen the Bruce Lee "berzerker" attack used often in parodies, though...
Ferris Bueller wasn't the first. Not even close Shakespeare is the root of all stage action. Except for what he borrowed from Greek tragedy. And he stole the sonnet from a Russian.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 It is hard to find parts of Citizen Kane that isn't parodied on shows like the Simpsons.
Guest wildpegasus Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Quote Mr Rant "I would say Star Trek" Ironically, doesn't Star Trek take a lot of stuff from Space Battleship Yamato?
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 It seems to me that I've seen an awful lot of references to Full Metal Jacket around... And FUCKING Bullet Time. Jesus, now, it's like EVERY action movie NEEDS bullet time, it seems.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 The Godfather All the fucking time on TV you see someone coming the main character and asking a "favor" Some even add ring kissing and of course, all 300000 variations of the horse's head.
Just John Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 The Matrix I also see the Lady and the Tramp style kiss parodied quite a bit.
Guest razazteca Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 [cartman]I really hate you guys so much[/cartman] Shakespear did not write all of his plays or sonnets. Every mob boss uses the voice that Brando did in the Godfather.
Guest Boo_Bradley Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 It is hard to find parts of Citizen Kane that isn't parodied on shows like the Simpsons. Ghostbusters the toon had a parody of C. Kane as well...
Guest ShamRock Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Taxi Driver is parodied quite a bit What movie?
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Animcal House took that from American Graffiti. See, things get parodied so much people can't remember what the originator was anymore. Didn't know that. Well Animal House is a better movie.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 The only thing ever parodied from Taxi Driver is the whole "you talkin' to me bit," occasionally you'll see a play off of the haircut, but that's it.
