BoSox vs Marlins

Recommended Posts

Guest CED Ordonez

BoSox were up 14 to 1 after ONE INNING!! Boston now owns a record with ten consecutive runs before making an out and has tied an AL record with 14 runs scored in the first inning. This is making out to be a sheer asskicking right out of the gate.

EDIT: DEAR GOD! 25 - 6 in the eighth?!?

This oughta be good to watch on SC when I get home.

EDIT: now if there was a true curse on the BoSox, they would blow that lead and lose 26-25 or something.

I remember in little league before our league adopted the mercy rule.

My team lost 45-4.

I spent the entire first inning just laughing. Laughing hysterically.

Johnny Damon - single, double, triple. All in the 1st inning.

Hope that Florida pitcher is OK, though.

Update on the Marlins pitcher: He was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, is in good condition and will be kept overnight for observation.

That was a FUN game to watch, though.

What's more amazing then Boston scoring 14 in the first inning is that they had 10 runs BEFORE THE FIRST OUT!

25-8 is the final score...and when a team scores 8 runs that means they SHOULD win by 4 or 5...not lose by 17!

And the best stat of this whole thing...the Detroit Tigers didn't score their 25th run of the season till game 13

Isn't 25 runs close to the major league record?

Funniest part of the Baseball Tonight coverage was them showing the time. It took something like two hours to complete Boston's half of the first inning.

The game started at 7PM, and they got up at about 725, and the inning was over by about 805

Oh. Could have sworn I saw 6 and 8 PM on the clock.

Forty minutes to complete an inning is still pretty impressive. Unless you're the Marlins.

The best part of the highlites is when the brawl starts...watch when they show the Marlins come onto the field out of the dugout...and look for Dontrelle Willis, specifically his eyes. He is primed and ready for a fight. Man, I love this kid.

Don't start anything Dontrell.

You're right about Willis. I've become a fan. He's got the Juan Marichial delivery. He's very competive, and he's on one of my fantasy teams. I bet the Cubs regret trading this guy.

That was just sick last night, I've never seen a team just explode like that. In-fucking-credible.

What pissed me off was the Marlins coach talking about running up the score. If there's one thing I hate the most in sports its the expectation that once the game seems over you should stop trying. BULLSHIT. I don't care if they were up 40-2, they should still be trying to get hits and produce runs because thats what baseballs all about, hell thats what pro sports are all about, doing your best, using every oppurtunity to score. If I have a guy on 3rd with one out, and someone pops the ball deep enough, why should he not tag up and score!? Because the other team doesn't want to be embarassed!?! Sorry, but you embarassed yourself playing like that to begin with, just because you didn't show up to play doesn't mean the other team should stop trying once they have the win in hand....ugh.

I guess I watched the wrong game then..

Os and Phillies 1-1 through 16 innings. No scoring since the 3rd (by the Phillies) Stupid nobody hits a 3 run homer off Omar I Suck ASS Daal in the 17th. Phillies win 4-2.

And the curse on the Sox means that they'll probably get shut out for the next 5 games.

I'm amazed that Duckworth left in the first, and the Phillies bullpen pitched 16 innings. I hope Brett Myers goes deep in the game tonight.

Running up the score does not work in baseball. In Football and basketball you can always put in 3rd stringers and run out the clock. In baseball what are you suppose to do? Strikeout on purpose and screw your stats?

I've seen 22 runs scored by a team in one inning at a minor league game.

Given how the Expos were abandoned and left for dead by the Marlins owner, I have the following comment:

Fuck you, Jeffrey Loria

Curse? I don't see no stinking curse!

:)

Unless these newfangled baseball rules have gotten me again, that did nothing to break 85 years without a title.

Some tidbits about Red Sux :D vs Marlins.

1st inning running time? 50 minutes.

Pitchs by Fla Pitchers under the rally? 91

Red Sox players at bat ? 19

Record for Most runs in a single inning? 15, Red Sox almost tied that record, but you know... the curse :)

Players who scored twice in the inning? 5 (Tie with an old AL Record)

Players at bat before the 1st out? 11 (1st out was Nomar Garciaparra)

Fla most runs in a single inning before? 10 (vs Atlanta, oct 5, 2001)

Keep telling yourself that, pal. ;)

The curse has nothing to do with a game in mid-June against a cellar dwelling NL team...

The Cubs. They have maybe the best stable of young pitching arms in the majors or still in the minors. God would not allow for either team to win, but arguments sake. My pick would be the Cubs.

Cubs. They aren't cursed by a dead fat guy...

They are cursed by history of shitty owners...

BoSOX have been there COUNTLESS times and lost in just about every heartbreaking scenairo possible...

If Bosox and Chicubs make the world series in the same year...

Doesn't Matter...Jesus returns and the world forgets...cept the chowdaheads.

86 was only heartbreaking because I had to choose a side.

The amusing thing about the '86 series is that the Sox had to make one of the game's miraculous comebacks just to get to the World Series.

Damn '86 was a great postseason.

The Red Sox blew a 2-0, and 3-2 lead during the '86 series. I don't think they had any real heartbreaking loses. Just don't give up a homerun to Bucky Dent, or keep a 1st Basemen with bad knees in the game, or throw a wild pitch.

So the MArlins beat the Braves 20-1. I wonder if McKean yelled at his team for running up the score?
