Okay, some one already picked a poll for the best wrestling game on PS..what do you think truly sucked so hard as a wrestling game that it deserves the status of worst of all time?

I won't put up the choices most pick for the best, since there's no need, but an "other" choice is provided for any I missed.

I chose other because the worst wrestling games are the ones Acclaim made for ECW. Any one of those would be a good choice.

WCW Mayhem was painful.

The graphics were the most insulting part. Their bodies were all distorted and wacky.

Thunder was multi-platform?

Nitro showed up on the PC and N64, I know that. But Thunder wasn't multi-platform. However, it's simpler than naming different entries for them, considering they're pretty much just the same.

So many choices here...

WWE Raw and WWE Wrestlemania 18 for XBOX and GameCube have to be somewhere up there, I think. At least for the fact that people were just expecting so much, and got what were essentially $50 test runs. The two games should have been so much more.

And lest we forget WWF Royal Rumble for Dreamcast. No game modes, besides singles matches and the rumble. Just pathetic.

Or the two ECW games, which was just the outdated Warzone/Attitude engine with ECW wrestlers slapped on. Speaking of, Warzone and Attitude (pre-Dreamcast version, anyway) were forgivable, since the engine was adequate for the time.

There's also Backstage Assault (Mayhem was okay, in my mind).

That said, I'm gonna have to give my nod to the WCW Nitro/WCW Thunder games. There were some cool things about them, for instance, the real entrances, the rant videos, the sort of cool faction editing thing. But all in all, just terrible when you get into the meat of the game.

Voted other for WWF Rage in the Cage for Sega CD. Not for the quality of the game, but the fact that Sega stuck the game with the crap console known as Sega CD.

I played Simpsons Wrestling over at a friends, and it is terrible. The graphics suck, the sound sucks, the gameplay sucks...the whole game just generally sucks. Of course, calling it a wrestling game is like calling Pong a tennis game, or something since I don't think whoever made it actually had a clue what wrestling was. But since the official title of the game is "Simpsons Wrestling", then it is by far the worst.wrestling game.ever.

I would have to go with Nitro/Thunder. At least out of the games I have played, Nitro is the only one I have received zero enjoyment out of whatsoever. I was so excited to get it, and, man, did it suck! ECW games might go here as well, but at least I got a Tanaka/Awesome match out of it, and I had one enjoyable match where, after being outnumbered three on 1, and eliminating his two partners, I absolutely destroyed some wrestler. It felt good.

I had to vote for Raw because it had the potential to be good but I rather play Attitude over that piece of shit any day.

While Nitro and Thunder are both terrible, Nitro has some pretty interesting arenas (like the mirror one) and Thunder has a few funny video promos from the wrestler. Both of those things are better than anything in Raw.

Definitely Nitro/Thunder. Warzone was bad, but at least it was playable (in it's own up-down-left-left-triangle kind of way). Nitro and Thunder were damn close to uncontrollable, and when you did manage to do something with your wrestler that handled like a bag of wet sand, it wasn't even worth it.

Can't believe I forgot Backstage Assault AND Anarchy Rulz, but the poll only allows ten choices.

Anarchy Rulz is far worse than Warzone, because it took the Warzone/Attitude engine, and made it WORSE by limiting you to about 3 moves until the crowd got hyped up, after which you could do a few more. The wrestlers still controlled terribly, too.

I think Wrestle War narrowly tops them all, which is why it got my vote. THRILL to punching and and kicking and stomping your opponent's balls until their energy drops to zero! THRILL at character designs by some people who really hated wrestling and threw in the most idiotic and cliche characters ever! Struggle with poor, unresponsive controls! Player 1 is stuck with the same wrestler no matter what! It's so great that Rise of the Robots borrowed the same idea. :P

And as far as I know Thunder only made it on the PS, but it's mostly the same game as Nitro so I stuck em together.

Aww crap.....didn't see the other button. Well I'd say the original M.U.S.C.L.E for NES was the worst, just plain bad.

I asked around for some nominees for crappy wrestling games, and that one came up. I never actually played it. The only one I played on 8 bit was Steel Cage Challenge.

Some of the nominees I never actually played, but went on reputation. I played Nitro, so I knew to avoid Thunder when I heard it didn't improve at all.

WWF Wrestlemania for the NES gets my vote. The game was pretty damn crappy way back when and I can only imagine how horrible it is now.

World Tour was a step towards Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, and No Mercy. It was a great game in its time although the graphics looked like crap. So no, I didn't think it deserved a place on this poll.

Agreed. World Tour shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as the others on this list. It was a godsend for it's time, better than just about any other wrestling game on the market. And it was the base for the AKI engine everyone pines for. Hell, I still find World Tour playable to this day.

I remember renting that back when I had a PlayStation.

I rented it from Hollywood Video, and then demanded to take the game back the very next day.

That game did suck. And I remember hearing from others how 'cool' the game supposedly was. I never really saw it.

And some others mentioned such as: M.U.S.C.L.E, Steel Cage Challenge and WrestleMania (all for NES) I agree with.

Actually, WCW vs. the World was the first game in the series of AKI wrestlers, but I think it got a lot more attention on the N64 because it had fewer games, and WCW didn't get really big until the nWo angle was in full swing.

Hogan made it into vs. the World as Hollywood Hogan, but the rest of the nWo didn't. WCW vs. nWo thus had a good selection of wrestlers from WCW, the nWo wrestlers, and much improved control and gameplay.

Although the wrestler models were very poor. If a wrestler was a bit on the tall side, usually their model in the game was a really pudgy one of average height.

Backstage Assault, easily. I mean, it was a wrestling game with no ring. WITH NO RING!!!
