Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Fozzy would be boo'd off the stage if OzzFest still were to cater to nu-metallers. Why? Because they represent a modernized version of old-school metal. The music takes more than just a month or two of guitar lessons to play, and the vocals aren't rapped, screamed, or whined. Guest Anorak Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Ash...this might be my new favorite band. Free All Angels was a great cd and it came out in 2001. No studio album since. Have you got 1977 ? I think its slightly better than Free All Angels. They are only a part-time band but another Golden Smog record would be nice after how good Weird Tales was. My fondness of that album has grown and grown in the years since 1998. A few more Jeff Tweedy tracks would be a bonus. Another Mark Kozeluk album would be welcome, his last record was one of the best and most unlikely covers album ever conceived. I'm sure he has his own original songs as well and i'm sure they would be up to the standard he established with Red House Painters. I think Mark Lanegan has a new album out in the autumn I think and with his QOTSA work it might get more recognition than usual. A lot of artists I like have stuff coming out this year but one thing i'd like to see wold be more re-issues along the lines of Smog's Accumulation: None or Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's 20 . Many artists have some great songs floating around on incredibly obscure old EP's or singles that are worth collecting together and releasing.

Guest acnx Report post Posted June 30, 2003 (edited) We won't get another Tool album for about another year and a half, sadly. We've got the APC album coming out, and then APC will go out on tour so, it will be awhile. Worth the wait if you ask me though... We are supposed to get a Live DVD soon...so Edited June 30, 2003 by acnx

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 2, 2003 I can't stand Fozzy. It's a gimmick that's been done before and been done better, and Jericho can't sing worth a shit. Clutch hasn't put anything out in a while, and Dillinger Escape Plan could use a new release, since the last one with Mike Patton was only 4 songs.
Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 2, 2003 When reached for comment, The Offspring's front man/vocalist, DEXTER HOLLAND, said "You snooze, you lose." Holland further added, "AXL [ROSE] ripped-off my braids, so I ripped-off his album title." Uh....huh. So is the moron going to steal something from the other million or so people with braids as well? Fucking tool. Oh yeah, the subject. Guns N' Roses. Metal M

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 2, 2003 The single reminds me of STP on Vol. 4, which isn't a good thing at all.
Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I don't think Axl's new band is a joke, it's just pointless going under the name of Guns N' Roses. Retire the name, think of something new, release the album, and make some money. Easy as that. I'm with you on the Revolver love though, I'm liking their new single so far and the album sounds very promising. I've missed Slash. Metal M
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 3, 2003 How many full-lengths have DEP actually released? I know there's a lot of collaborations and EPs, but 'Calculating Infinity' is the only LP I've found anywhere. And now the obligatory *COUGH*AndrewWKTheWolfSeptember9th2003*COUGH* Morrissey now has a record deal I believe. I have to see him live more than anything though. I think Frank Black has a new one in the works, he's playing a date in London soon. Rammstein and Mercury Rev have new stuff on the way as well. Hurrah! Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Dillinger has a self-titled album I've never heard, which originally only had 100 or so copies pressed. It was remastered and re-released in 2001 with 3 live tracks, I guess. I've never seen it anywhere. They've got another EP called Under The Running Board which only has 3 tracks on it, so you're just better off downloading 'em, naturally. The only Split 7"s they've done that I know about are the ones with Drowningman(which I've never heard), and one with Nora (they suck ass).

Last year someone said it was going to be "I get Wetter." Any truth to that? I'll buy it. It's called 'The Wolf'. It was originally going to be called 'Blow Your Bone' but he said the cover 'showed him doing something to do with the title' and the record company made him change it. I would've preferred 'I Get Wetter', but I'm just glad he has a second album, I was just assuming it got shitcanned ages ago.

Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Their official site doesn't give a date (Just "early summer") so I'll assume there is not set date right yet. It also says that they ARE gonna call it Chinese Democracy, which rules.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 6, 2003 ehhh, I don't know about that. River Runs Red is a blowaway album, to be sure, but the other two I've heard didn't impress me nearly as much. Ugly had some good material on it though, IIRC. I think it's a case of a band totally blowing their load, then getting stuck trying to top themselves. Didn't Keith Caputo release some solo material? Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Oh, hell then, I'd definitely like to hear something from the original lineup. RRR is kickass from beginning to end. Although I think a second album would end up as a case of "Down 2 Syndrome" where a band can't possibly top the one album they put out, but try anyway years after the fact, and come out with something that's still good, but kind of set up to be disappointing in a way, then break up...although they could tour... A new LOA would be nice.
Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Hasn't Axl Rose copyrighted the name 'Chinese Democracy' for his upcoming album? I heard about Axl going ballistic when he found out Offspring where using his album name as their own, but if he owned the rights to the name I don't see what is stopping him from suing their asses. Fuck it, knowing Axl he probably copyrighted the name back in '93 and the rights ran out this year. Idiot. M

Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted July 7, 2003 The only band that's actually releasing albums still that I can think of is Stereolab. I have a ton of other choices that I don't think will happen, so I don't know if they count: Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Gang Green.

A new LOA would be nice. LOA has such an odd history. They have had numerous talks of an full reunion with the TRUE LOA line up but they never could get it to work... They had an odd following as They were loved by Hardcore fans in underground NYC in the 1990-1991 era dispite not being "Hardcore" and Caputo even credited Annie Lennox, Doors and Led Zep as primary influences...while Joey Z credited Kirk Hammett as his source of inspiration and Robert was suited to classic rock such as Pink Floyd. So that combined an potent mix for the band. After becoming major names on the NYC underground, they released "Stain remains" and became a Roadrunner stable mate. in 1993, River runs red hit the world and was hailed as something classic and put them on the Hardcore/Metal/Hard rock MAP for good with it's haunting lyrics and killer riffs. They followed that up with the traditional "Sophmore" "melodic" up-date that all bands seem to do. This was called Ugly...which was more angst driven but slightly geared for a Commerical push. They toured with big names like Ozzy, Anthrax, Type o Negative and Korn. It was on the tour with Type that the band began to distingergrate. The drummer, Sal Abrascuto left to join Type O negative....Dan Richardson replaced him. This was what Road Runner wanted...they decided that they had the buzz and wanted to Commericalized them fully. While they got their first radio hit on the main stream with Tangerine...The fans rejected the Third Album "Soul Searching Sun" as nothing but commerical material. Caputo left the band during their "peak" because he hated the direction the band was being forced through, while the others didn't go against anything, thus forcing him out. They signed Whitfiled Crane to replace Caputo on the SSS tour but the fans rejected it... They started work on a 4th album but they decided that Crane wasn't going to be able to fulfill the shoes of Caputo...Roberts (whom had vocals for LOA on occasion) decided to become the lead vocalist but the band couldn't get an energy to exist without Caputo and in 1999, 6 years after they stormed the Metal NYC underground, it died with a mere whisper. Keith Caputo, whom virtually disapeered after his seperation from the band suddenly returned with a album but was an UK only release of his First Solo album "Died Laughing". The lyrics and the message of Caputo, was strikeingly different from the feeling of Agnst and frustration and desperation that was thrown at you in R..R.R. He didn't really have any big hits with the Album and it certaintly went unnoticed in America but it was a big deal for LOA loyalists In the fall of 2002, it was announced that LOA WITH Caputo would reunite for a one show gig in NYC's famous Irving Plaza on January 4th. Because of such an HUGE demand...They agreed to do an additional show on the 3rd in the same venue. SHortly before the reunion, Caputo released his 2nd solo album "Perfect little Monsters" After the two show set, Rumors ran wild that LOA were heading to the studio or were planning on a Full-length tour... That rumor was quickly dismissed as Caputo went back on tour promoting his solo album...In an interesting thing for LOA fans...Sal accompanied Caputo on a few shows...Leading some to believe they were doing a suprise LOA show but it never happened. LOA is an major band from the early 1990's NYC underground scene that is famously known for it's haunting smash hardcore hit "This Time" and the classic RIVER RUNS RED album that is an MUST for all true Hardcore fans.
