Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I was just wondering if anyone had seen anything on Jazz. As I'm sure you saw on Raw, she was in the Battle Royale and was unceremoniously "eliminated" when a bunch of refs hauled her out. JR didn't really make a big deal out of it which is a bit odd because usually JR makes a big deal out of people gently gliding into the stairs shoulder first and BBQ sauce, let alone getting knocked the hell out with a kick to the head. So yeah, anyone seen anything about her being legit injured or that would indicate that it's just a work? It'd suck for one of the decent women workers to get murdered the first night she gets a new challenger.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Victoria kicked Jazz's teeth down her throat. I'm sure it was legit. Victoria needs to get another title run.
Guest Choken One Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Looked legit since JR glossed over it and there was a QUICK and quiet removal of Jazz...
cawthon777 Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Yes it looked good but I have little doubt it was a work. That's the perfect way for someone like Jazz to go out - no one eliminated her so she can claim to still be champion. She was robbed.
Guest notJames Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I replayed the kick after the fact and it didn't look like it did anything so severe as to legitimately take her out of the match. I also didn't see the ref give the "X" sign to signal a legit injury. This leads me to believe that it's a carefully scripted work, even though JR and the King didn't make a big deal out of it. I also have to question putting the belt on Kim right away. Perhaps Jazz is in the doghouse and had to be written out quickly and unceremoniously, but I would have rather given it to Victoria. Regardless, this no doubt sets up feuds a plenty for the new Torontonian Women's Champ, what with Victoria, Jazz, and even Trish having issues with her (since Kim's bounce off the ropes eliminated Trish from the battle royal).
Guest jester Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I want Gail Kim to do well, but they are putting A LOT on her shoulders. After you win a belt on your debut night, where do you go from there?
Guest notJames Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Exactly. And it's not like she was able to showcase her supposedly high-flying repertoire to wow the crowd. I'm hoping that a feud with Victoria will kick start things properly, but putting the belt on Kim so quickly might be the death of her WW_ career.
Guest RugbyDiva Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I also have to question putting the belt on Kim right away. I agree. I think it was way too early to be giving her the title. I mean it was her first night and all of a sudden she's the women's champ? Puhlease! WWE seems to be taking that path recently though. Granted it wasn't their first match on WWE tv, but look at La Resistence... new, and champs! That irks me, especially because so many other people opps, I mean "superstars" are much more worthy of holding the belts or (belt).
Guest croweater Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I replayed the kick after the fact and it didn't look like it did anything so severe as to legitimately take her out of the match. It didn't look like a work to me, mainly because I think it would be played up if she was eliminated in such a manner, and the fact that the women didn't have any idea what they were doing towards the end of the match. That could have just been bad booking but they all seemed to have their WTF faces on. My take was that it appeared that Victoria just took Jazz's place towards the end of the match to help get things properly along. Gail Kim was obviously booked to win though as if something had have gone bad they should have put Victoria or Trish over the new girl otherwise it wouldn't have made sense. Gail Kim should not be the champion. She's had no buildup and has absolutely no support whatsoever. If anyone should have gone over it should have been Ivory as then she and Jazz could continue their "She can pin me but didn't for the title" fued. Oddly enough the WWE jobbed out Ivory first......... WWE logic for ya.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 It doesn't really matter if Gail Kim won the title because everyone else in the women's division has been a past champion. Its not like her stock is going to drop drastically after she loses the title. I may be wrong, but I think Christian also won the Lightweight Title on his first match.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Wait....Gail Kim is the women's champ? She debuted?? I haven't even caught one of her promos yet. I've only been catching the last half hour of RAW for the past 2 months. Have only seen Booker T like twice.....
Guest notJames Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Just to confirm, according to 1wrestling... Jazz was selling an injury during the Woman's Battle Royal, and was not legitimately injured. The match went as planned, with Gail Kim getting the title on her first night. Now, I'm not one to say "I told you so," but...
Guest BrokenWings Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I suppose we're to believe what 1wrestling says, but here's something else from Rajah - There have been a lot of different reports regarding Jazz from last night’s RAW. Industry sources are now reporting that her shoulder did pop out of place during the battle royal, although the injury was not as serious as it looked.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I have heard both stories also. I think it was a work though.
Guest Downhome Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I instantly took it as a work myself. She's the champ, it's a battle royal and if she is injured without being tossed out she looses the title without actually loosing it. Now when she is on TV again, she can say she never lost the title and can demand a match with Gail, thus an instant program is in their face.
Guest Memphis Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I want Gail Kim to do well, but they are putting A LOT on her shoulders. After you win a belt on your debut night, where do you go from there? Jerry Lynn anyone? He won the title on his first night and look how HE ended up. Pity though, cause Gail is the very definition of 'KA-BLAM!' in terms of hotness. Metal M
Guest Flyboy Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Pity though, cause Gail is the very definition of 'KA-BLAM!' in terms of hotness. That was a joke, right?

Guest Showstoppa Icon Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Pity though, cause Gail is the very definition of 'KA-BLAM!' in terms of hotness. day-um straight
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 It seems the board is kinda divided on whether Gail's hot or not. I personally think yes. However, her lack of buttockular mass makes her lose points, though. If Jazz was really injured--was this the original finish, though? Personally, I would have let her be introduced as a partner for Trish and cut a few promos before getting into the title hunt, of course WWE doesn't treat the Women's Title with any respect, so I guess that's why things like this happen.
Guest jester Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Pity though, cause Gail is the very definition of 'KA-BLAM!' in terms of hotness. Metal M Oh my lord, yes.
Guest JHawk Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Two things. 1. Gail Kim is hot and with the right outfit might force me into changing my banner. 2. Even if I agreed with Gail Kim getting the title on her first night (which I don't), no title should ever change hands without the champion getting beat unless said champion is injured and can't defend within 30 days. Period. I don't like title changes in triple threat matches where one challenger pins the other challenger, and I especially don't like title changes in battle royals where the champion is rolled out underneath the bottom rope by three referees and a trainer. Shouldn't there have at least been an announcement by Lillian Garcia so the live crowd knew what the hell was going on?
Guest Memphis Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Pity though, cause Gail is the very definition of 'KA-BLAM!' in terms of hotness. That was a joke, right? No. She's really, really, really.....REALLY hot. Metal M P.S Really.
Murmuring Beast Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 This is to cause a feud between Jazz and Kim over "The Man" and Teddy Long. Can't wait for the inevitable Mack - Kim battles.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Gail is pretty hot but can't hold a candle to Stratus or Kiebler.
Internet Warfare Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Did you say she cant hold a candle to Kiebler? You gotta be high to think that, Gail in my opinion is totally a better wrestler and dare I say hotter?
Guest Just call me Dan Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I personally do not find Asian women attractive because of thier lack of curves. Gail is a beautiful woman, but not attractive to me at all.
Guest Goodear Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 What someone projected on another site and I bought for the whole Jazz knock out thing was that she came into the match injured and couldn't actually work a full match if she wanted to do so. So WWE sticks her in a battle royal so they can immediately get the strap off her without having a twenty second small package match or something.
