Since RVD was booked pretty strong.....

Recommended Posts

Guest NoCalMike

Ok, we have already had two threads on whether he sells or not blah blah. However I think it is pretty unanimous that for once, an HHH opponent was actually booked to look strong in a losing effort. There were a few times during the match I thought he was going to lose, but fought out of the situation to keep the match going, when normally on Raw against Triple H, that would have been it. Is this any type of sign that wwe wants to actually do something with him besides be a Kane lackey? With Kane's chokeslam on Bischoff, it isn't quite clear if RVD/Kane are truly parting ways, or if they will remain buddies, just not tag partners. I always felt that RVD was being book safely because he rarely loses clean, yet I was always wondering when they were going to do something with him. So, was last night's match the start of some type of push, or was it more just a "hey Rob, this is your lucky night" type of thing?

I hope it was part of a push. It would certainly be a shock and surprise if he actually got a decent feud with HHH. But I got a feeling RVD will still feud with Kane because didn't Kane say he hated Rob?

I'm getting the freakish, loner "I hate everyone" vibe from Kane, which explains hating on Rob and then chokeslamming Bischoff.

As for an RVD push, I'll believe it when I see it.

well, even if he doesn't feud with Triple H, he could still get some type of push. The I-C title is a good start.

Yeah, he'll get pushed in a RED HOT~! singles program with Rodney Mack or something.

That belt has Booker T's name all over it. They're just waiting (albeit very long) to do the blowoff, I guess due to Christian's somewhat refreshed heel schtick.

This would be a great start to an HHH/RVD feud that could make RVD a superstar at last.

If a feud happened. If RVD went over.

I doubt either will happen. RVD probably won't even mention it next week.

The real question is who the hell else is Triple H going to face at Summerslam? Goldberg's "not over enough", Nash is worn out, Foley's supposedly facing Orton or McMahon, Michaels is supposedly facing Orton... really, he's going to have to face Kane or RVD, or he'll wind up in the midst of a six-man.

Then again, he'll probably face Goldberg. Oh well, I can hope.

Am I the only person that really doesn't wanna see HBK vs. Orton or Foley vs HHH????

They'd probably push the panic button and throw Goldberg/HHH out there, if anything just to lend more "credibility" (loose term these days) to Triple H's reign.

Since Foley is only around for the short-haul, it's best that if he fights, he puts over a young guy like Orton.

HHH is DEAD-SET on not fighting Goldberg at Summerslam...

I guess Kane is doing the "I hate everyone of you" tweener role and RVD will be the sympathetic Babyface shooting for the title but trying to help his friend...

It's an classic and EASY to sell angle...Most if not all marks forgotten that RVD was dug 6 feet under last fall.

If you build RVD Vs HHH starting with this raw and you add the element of Alliengence from KANE, you get this "who's side is he on" since one week he is against Rob and the next week he helps him or saves him...

You put Goldberg (if he is even still under contract by this time) against another HEEL (but leaves Jericho and X as the only remaining credible heels but they can do that so Flair needs to sacrifice himself)...

Orton gets the HHH special from Foley...

Shawn starts a "fun" re-lapse angle against Jericho just for the sake of giving us another **** match.

RVD and HHH go to Slam...With the speculation that Kane is in cahoots with Evolution (yet to bring the 4th man)...

RVD goes Over with Kane finally making his alliegence clear...he is with RVD for good...

And HHH gets pissed...Leaves Raw for Smackdown...without EVER jobbing to Goldberg.

Ok, just because they're marks doesn't mean they don't have long-term memory... especially when it comes to being 9 months ago.

I still testify that RVD was the LEAST buried superstar by HHH...He just lost his match thanks to flair..

Kane was dragged through the mud...

Booker had to suffer a racist gimmick and got a delayed pin at the biggest stage in the world...

Steiner...was steiner and HHH tried to Homofy steiner as much as he could...

RVD had like a full year of doing _nothing_ after being elevated to the main event. That's not good at all.

*refers to HHH Effect Chart*

He was in the "orange" phase.

U know after Bret lost the title to Backlund...He went back to the mid card as Did Jericho and Sting...

Why couldn't RVD do the same?

I'm still trying to figure out how RVD was "booked strong" when he had to have Bischoff (who is a heel) changing the rules twice for him to even stay in the match in the first place.

Why is a heel changing the rules so a face can stay in a match that is essentially over?

Now I know that doesn't even compare to the burial he had last year and compared to last year this is good, but it still weird and you have to think about what's going to stick in the mark's minds.

They'll remember Bischoff saving RVD's BUTT twice only to have him lose to a ddt.

Actually the DDT finish looked a lot better than the typical "X goes down to Pedigree" finish that permeates Raw. If you note HHH never really hit the Pedigree on RVD last night, and RVD really won the match by DQ when Flair interfered.

That said I have still yet to see an RVD/HHH match that works. I mean, they all consist of HHH (a man with a lousy moveset) getting all the offense in on RVD (a man who can't really sell long term). It's the exact OPPOSITE of the formula they should be using....RVD (man with flashy moveset) getting offense against HHH (who can sell if he wants to).

I think RVD will still fight Kane at SS and GB will fight HHH. I seriously think a feud down the line with a heel turned GB and RVD would be interesting. Maybe they could have RVD be the first guy to beat him?

If I had to take a guess, it was because of two things:

1. Austin getting food poisoning

2. The original booking with Austin in it.

All night, Bischoff restarted matches to the heels' advantages. So, Austin was probably going to come out and do it for RVD, with Bischoff bitching about it.

But, with Austin getting some bad food, Bischoff had to do it. So, showing off his shoot skills, he made it happen, without making himself look like a face.

Bisch was great in that role...He made the match swtich and STILL came off as a ratings exploting ass hole...

Foley/Orton I am fine with...

Foley will give Orton the HHH special with a double helping

HBK oughta just do another dance with Jericho or stay away.

Yea why not let Foley make a star of Orton? We NEED new faces desperately.

Let HBK and Jericho go at it again with Jericho going over, too.

I agree with FoodStamp on the triple threat for the title: RVD vs. Kane vs. HHH. That would be most logical in giving HHH opponents and letting RVD/Kane do their feud.

So the big matches from Raw will be:

RVD vs. Kane vs. HHH

Jericho vs. HBK

Orton vs. Foley

That looks pretty good to me, actually. Say SD does this, which would be logical too:

Brock vs. Angle

Rey vs. Ultimo

Summerslam may shape up very nicely. Toss in a good Benoit match and we should have a good-great PPV.

Bret was an already established main eventer for 2 years before he went down the card. RVD certainly was/is not.

That's quite the amusing little chart. I thank you for a laugh in this late hour.

Gee, now we have to wonder about whether or not Triple H had anything to do with Taker moving to SD!.
