The Last Notion of Genius

Recommended Posts

Guest Choken One

I was wondering as I often do.

What in your smark minded opinion is the most recent GENIUS or rather, intelligent or good business move involving the WWE company?

Keeping Nathan Jones off of TV. Okay, so it's not exactly genius, but that's the first thing that came to mind.

I don't recall any intelligent or good business decisions that Vince has made lately.

With his recent debut, it's fresh in my mind so I suppose the signing of Ultimo Dragon.

Releasing the Rey DVD, pushing him, and the HBK/Flair mini-program (most of it, anyway).

Signing Ultimo, but already they are fucking up with booking by keeping him off this week's SD.

Not letting Torrie talk or act anymore.

ummmmm...........ummmmmm...........ummmmm.............got me?

I don't consider signing Ultimo a "genius move" considering anyone on these message boards would have jumped at the chance to sign him if they owned the company. I don't consider something genius if "smart" fans would have easily thought of it first......

The influx of new talent. New being new new, not old new like Hogan, Piper, ect. Yeah, they aren't using this new talent well, but then again, they aren't using anyone well. You take your little bits of goodness where you can, I guess.

Bringing back ECW that one fateful night during the Invasion. The shock it brought was great, and I thought Vince could really do something great with that.

......Of course, he ruined it that very same night.

Austin as GM on RAW? I'm sorry but The whole GM battles on RAW put me to sleep. That is one of the biggest factors in why I haven't been able to watch a RAW from start to finish for a good 3 months.

IN terms of ultimo, if he lets him shine in a series of matches against rey- that would be genius. but if he gets stuck in some hoss vs flyer feud against a-train or big show than it would be a total waste. i think how spanky will be used will be an indication of how much of a smark genius vince is

Austin has done what very few men can do.................put LANCE STORM and KANE over in the WWE.

I don't care for Bischoff as GM and wish he would dissappear like Nash and HBK. Eric has a BORING personality, he does nothing as The Man with power on Raw. What has Bischoff done as the GM? His 3 Minute Warning boys went nowhere as his enforcers.

Genius move #2 Tough Enough did not have another season.

Shutting down WWE New York and their music label were both smart business moves.

How about bringing up John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Charlie Hass, Shelton Benjamin, Dave Batista, Randy Orton and Sean O'Haire all in the same year and having two of them already main event players with the other five arguably almost there.

For as much as WWE does wrong, they sure as hell did right with these men, spacing out their debuts, building them effectively with unique personas and now having the future of wrestling signed to deals worth about $80,000 per year downside with the exception of Lesnar. That's pretty damn good business if you ask me.

Is that right? $80,000 for a year for these new guys. I know i hear Rey Mysterio signed for $75,000 when he came in. I can't believe that.....all the travel, on the road about 200-250 days a year, busting your ass every night......always hurt. For fuckin $80,000???? wow, and these guys don't have any merchandise either so i wonder what the upside is on their contracts.

Rey Mysterio, $75 000? That doesn't seem right at all.

Still though, that seems very low for a well known wrestler like Rey Mysterio.

The last smart thing Vince did...

Put himself on house shows.

You gotta wonder what a guy like the Barbarian did to squander $500,000 if he is still working Indy shows to this day for like $500 a pop. He doesn't seem like the Mercedes/Mink Coat kind of guy.

I'd go so far back as to say the HHH/Foley feud from 2000. That was the last truly phenomenal run of programs they've had. I'd say the love triangle if not for the non-climax.
