Guest Mik at Cornell Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Our Lady Peace is probably my favorite band. Some said they have sold out, which I think is a load of crap. Their best two CDs IMO are Spiritual Machines and Gravity. With that said, the best way to hear Our Lady Peace is live, they are just simply awesome in concert. Their first Live CD came out this past Tue, did anyone get it? I think it's pretty sweet, the set list they did was a good mix of new hits and classics and there is a sweet 10 minute version of Naveed and Life combined as well as extended versions of Innocent and Are you Sad (8 mins, absolutely awesome). DVD is forthcoming in the fall. I personally can't wait.

Is this the same Raine Maida that struggled hardcore at the MuchMusic Video Awards? The same Raine Maida who can barely sing and has done so in years past at Edgefest? Whoah.

I was surprised to see LotC use it as an avatar and I've been meaning to say something about it. Anyhoo, on the subject of Live: I like it, I don't love it. The extended Starseed and Naveed/Life (which sold me on the 'new guy') are pretty fun to listen to, but gasp, they're my favorite OLP songs anyway (well, Naveed, not Life). While we're on the subject of old stuff, I miss The Birdman. Oh, hell; I'm going to have to go track by track. 1) All for You- I love the new intro with the people talking and I've always thought the song was cool. 2) Superman's Dead- Everyone else's favorite song doesn't impress me that much here, but everyone singing along is always pretty cool. 3) Not Enough- I loved it on Gravity after hearing it live back in September. It was awesome THEN. It sounds mangled on the CD for some reason... 4) Naveed/Life- Oh, yes. 5) Innocent- I got tired of this song last year. 6) Bring Back The Sun- One of the five songs I enjoyed from Gravity, it translates pretty well here. For some reason, it almost breaks my heart. It just tugs the right strings. 7) One Man Army- I like it better from Woodstock if we're talking live, but I'll listen to it. 8) Is Anybody Home- It moves along nicely, and it used to be my favorite OLP song, so maybe I'm biased. 9) Our Time is Fading- This song just rocks. Pity I hear it'll never get to the studio. 10) Are You Sad- I've never really listened to this song at all, and since I mostly play music in the car and I prefer to keep it loud in the Mattmobile, I can't judge it. 11) Whatever- I was actually surprised at how little I enjoyed this. I love my live version on Kazaa and the studio version, this one's just rough. Disappointing is the word, I guess. I'm surprised WWE isn't promoting the CD, by the way, as Stephanie Music appears in the insert. 12) Clumsy- I've always liked the song alright and nothing changes here. 13) Starseed- Simply the best track on the CD, IMO. The slow intro building into the all too familiar opening chords rules. 14) Somewhere Out There- Meh. I am enjoying the CD, I just wish it had a few more tracks and some acoustic tracks. The Birdman rules live and acoustic Thief is always nice to hear. I'm also surprised the 4 AM sing along wasn't on here. Oh, well; I suppose people buy CDs for the musicians performing and not the fans.
