The InVasion angle would of been COMPLETLY different.

Benoit probably wouldn't of gotten hurt.

Benoit didn't need surgery because of that match. He had been having chronic problems with his neck for a while, IIRC, and just chose to have the surgery after dropping the tag titles.

 

As for everything else, the initial plan was to go with HHH vs. Austin at Wrestlemania, so I'm sure a lot of stuff would've changed. Not necessarily for the better, concerning who was booking/writing, but we'll never know now.

I was thinking about this the other day and your right, Benoit wouldn't have gotten hurt. I actually think the WWF was going for a Benoit/HHH @ King of the Ring 2001,  but of  course, that was changed.

I think Benoit's diving head BUTT from the top to the outside through a talbe on D-Von (I think) at TLC3 on Smackdown contributated a lot to him going out.

Benoit was already hurt, he had a chronic neck problem before Triple H even went out. He had to have the sugury 2 days after the King Of The Ring because he injured his neck even more.

Yep, HHH being fit and having good matches would have imroved the Invasion and other angles immensly. Jericho might not have become champ though.

If HHH had not torn his quad, we would have been treated to Austin vs. HHH at around summerslam, since that was what they were building to except it would have been heel Austin vs face HHH. I would think that scenario would have been better for HHH getting face heat because he would have a plausible reason for fighting Austin. The two didn't really get along in the first place, what with them just a month removed from a bitter feud. Plus they were going with a selling point of how HHH beat Austin right before Mania, therefore making him a more viable and credible threat. That little tidbit goes for all those who were bitching about HHH going over Austin at No Way Out on the HHH jobbing- a comparitive study. Bottom line is this-HHH winning at No Way Out had a long term purpose and it wasn't just HHH stroking his political cock like some of you seem to think.

The only good thing about HHH going down for eight months, was that Steph was off our TVs for about two months...amazing how TV was better when she was out.  What with Austin, Benoit, and Jericho having awesome matches right and left.

Well for one, H would have been in the slot Kurt Angle was in in the Invasion and maybe Kurt woulda turned wcw earlier.  I dont think it would have changed how sad the invasion was.  Kurt filled the spot nicely and had some great matches with austin (summerslam for ex)  I think he coulda been more over as a face if he stayed face before and after survivor series.

We were headed towards Jericho/Austin and HHH/Benoit with a Austin/HHH program eminent and Benoit going on the shelf. We were headed towards Rock/Austin at Survivor Series (which became SummerSlam when he got injured, than thanks to the Invasion got pushed back), IIRC, but they kept on pushing that back as long as they had room. I doubt Angle would have turned as they preferred having him as a heel.
