Power Ranger Questions

OK I have a couple of Power Rangers questions for you guys:

 

1. Who was the Phantom Ranger? I don't recall it ever being revealed despite there being a TON of hints that it was Billy under the mask. Was it a generic alien ala the Gold Ranger? Or was it never explained and left as a dangling storyline?

 

2. What happened to the rest of the Turbo Rangers? Rocky got crippled in some lame accident in the Turbo Movie and Billy ran off with one of the Alien Power Ranger Chicks. Did everyone else just forfit their powers in one mass ceremony?

 

3. Where the Psycho Rangers from Turbo or Zeo?

 

4. What happened to the obnoxious kid from Power Rangers Turbo? I seem to recall he reunited with his dad at the end of Turbo to help them get a spaceship. Can I assume that the rest of the rangers dumped him like a hot potato when they met up with Andros when the show got rebooted as Power Rangers in Space?

I believe that was left unresolved, meaning we never found out his identity. It may have been touched upon in the latest series, but I'm not sure.

Tommy, Kat, Tanya and Adam handed their powers over to TJ, Cassie, Ashley and Carlos because they were getting old or some shit like that. I think the explanation given was that the older Rangers needed to move on in life.

Neither. It was Space or Lost Galaxy.

Justin stayed on Earth to be with his Dad instead of going on to be a Space Ranger. He did make an appearance in a later series, but I'm not sure which. He still had his Turbo powers by the way.

I'm feeling old. The only one remembered anything about was the Phantom Ranger.

 

And I probably caused the spending of alot of money on those damn toys too. Connect the tiger to the thingie, damnit, it doesn't move easily!

 

I forgot when I bailed on the show. Probably when I got pubic hair. I remember the one guy with the huge head who was supposed to really kick ass. The idiocy of the villains is amazing. The easy way to do this is to send Putties that don't have some easy weakness with a gun to shoot them all. And don't let them go to a jungle ninja camp after you unleashed your Ooze

I'm feeling a little old skool as well. I watched up until Ooze took over. I mean Lord Zedd was my favorite. I loved the original cast. Nobody can beat them! They ruled all! Rita was a hoss and Zedd ruled....I loved em both. IMO of course

I watched up until Zeo, which I find sad because I was probably outside the acceptable viewing age during MMPR's first season, but whatever. I ocassionaly watched "In Space" because the yellow ranger, Tracy Lynn Cruz, was hot.

 

One thing that left me confused was when Jason came back as the Gold Ranger, it seemed to me him and Tommy ended up in some space fighting arena care of the Machine King, but then it just went to Turbo. I suppose I could just check an episode guide to see what happened, though.

The Gold Ranger powers were unstable so Jason handed them back to Trey, the original bearer of the powers. He left for awhile and came back (with Kimberly) for the Turbo movie. Last seen in the awesome Forever Red episode.

Zeo is the watershed moment for the series, as after Zeo the writers immeadiately decided to fuck off the show's original, now slightly older audience and go the God-Awful Kiddy route.

 

Shit like crippling Rocky in order to bring in the Kid Ranger, the loss of Tommy (the core character of the franchise), and the pressence of Divatox (a pathetic villain played by a horribly bad actress who's character was nothing more than a sad and pathetic Sandra Bernhard impression) caused the franchise to jump the shark. But by the time that they moved onto "In Space" (which attempted to desperately recapture the original audience with more sophisticated, Star Wars-esque storyline of heroes fighting against an evil Empire and serialized form of storytelling and featured the extremely popular Astronema character) it was pretty much too late as the ratings had bottomed out and all of the kids/preteens who were now teens and college aged had moved onto over things and no longer connected to the show.

 

If the show had stayed the course taken with Zeo the show would have achieved cult fandom status and stayed in the public eye as a pop culture item that outlasted it's trendy nature and evolved to meet the more adult needs of it's growing audience.

Uh... No, the incredibly huge toy franchise caused it to jump the shark. Like Pokemon and all other fads, it eventually imploded on itself.

 

I'm a huge fan with a lot of episodes on DVD, but you're sounding like King Nerd here, going on about how the show could have turned into some kind of mature drama if they only did this and that and the other. Get over it, it's a kid's show, it's Power Rangers, and the Rita Repulsa scenes should have shown you it's not the most serious show on television.

 

I guess I ought to check back in a week when you'll go on about Tommy's workrate. =b

I was a HUGE fan when it first came out. Then when they got the new Zords when Lord Zedd came into the pictures, it was still pretty cool. When the original cast got replaced, I said fuck PRs. So basically, throughout the years, they got vehicles instead of animals at one point to make the big Zord, became Ninja,s fought some evil chick in a submarine, and then went into space...

 

Basically, I just want to know what happened to them.

 

1.) What happened to the original cast, including Tommy the Green Ranger, I remember he became the White Ranger, right?

 

2.) Bulky and Skull and the Bartender guy at the high school?

 

3.) Rita, Lord Zedd, and all their cronies on the moon? Scorpiona was a hot bitch before she changed into her ugly ass monster form.

1) Characters

Tommy: Became White Ranger, became Zeo Ranger 5 in Zeo,

and the Red Turbo Ranger in PR Turbo. He gave up his Turbo powers to TJ. He returned for an episode in 2001 (Forever Red) with all the other Red Rangers (except Rocky)

Jason: Became the Gold Ranger in Zeo, turned evil in the PR Turbo movie, turned good, not heard from until Forever Red

Trini: Left for peace conference, replaced by Aisha

Zack: Left for peace conference, replaced by Adam

Kimberly: Left to compete in gymnastics, replaced by Kat, brought back and turned evil in Turbo movie (just like Jason)

Billy: After his Blue Ranger powers were destroyed, he helped the remaining Rangers go on their Zeo crystal quest. He stayed as an assistant to Alpha 5 and Zordon until he left for Aquitar.

 

Actors:

Jason David Frank (Tommy): bit parts in movies and TV shows, was on a episode of MTV's Undressed

 

Austin St. John (Jason): nothing much after PR

 

Thuy Trang (Trini): was in two movies, but died in a car crash in California in 2001

 

Walter Jones (Zack): was in a few movies (including the awful Backyard Dogs) and the token UPN Black Sitcom Guest Appearance

 

Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly): was in quite a few movies, had a recurring character in "Felicity", started up a singing career

 

David Yost (Billy): not much after PR - he is gay now, though

 

 

2) Bulk: The longest recurring character on PR. He went from a bully to a member of Angel Grove's Junior Police force to a chimp to an assistant for Professor Polyphemus. He stayed until PR Lost Galaxy.

Skull: See Bulk. He was accidentally left on Earth before PR Lost Galaxy.

Ernie: Left in PR Turbo to help in South America (the actor in real life had health problems)

 

3) Rita and Zedd: turned into good humans by Zordon's energy wave at the end of PR in Space

The cronies: turned into dust by Zordon's energy wave at the end of PR in Space (however, only Scorpina's fate is unknown for Scorpina didn't appear in any episodes after season 2)

 

4) Zordon: During the Power Rangers in Space saga, Zordon was killed by the Red Space Ranger Andros. Zordon used his energy to wipe out evil forces when he died.

 

Alpha 5: Left Earth in PR Turbo to defend Zordon's home planet of Eltare, assumed killed in the invasion of Eltare
