Guest usmale Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 im currently in the process of creating a matchlist database and i stumbled on 2 strange matches from wcw worldwide 97 (i think). if any of u have them and can remember or recently watched them let me know what you thought about them. 1. Randy savage vs. ultimo dragon 2. ric flair vs lizmark jr. quick note im on page 60 of 360. damn thats a long ways to go.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 Looking back, the Savage/Dragon match would definitely be interesting on paper, although, I can't help but to think it was a squash. I still remember seeing on WCW Pro in 1996 during Flair's title run, he actually LOST by DQ to Brad F'N Armstrong! I know, it was a DQ ending, but Brad Armstrong of all people got a W against Ric Flair. I mean Armstrong couldn't even beat Madusa in '99 or anyone else on the roster not from the State Patrol or the Barrios from 1994-1999.

I guess Arn was right when he said "Ric Flair's won 16 world titles, those are the only 16 matches he's ever won" And, as long as it's not a squash, Savage/Ultimo looks interesting.

Point taken, but on the same token who has Brad Armstrong ever beaten past 1994?
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 He beat Alex Wright at Hallowe'en Havok '99, and was repackaged the next night as Buzzkill
Chazz Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I actually remember watching both. The Macho Man vs Ultimo Dragon match was basically a squash. I don't even believe It was The Main Event of that Show(!), but I could be wrong. Ric Flair vs Lizmark Jr. was basically a glorified squash, although Flair let Lizmark have his fair share of offense, of course.
Rendclaw Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I remember when Savage was hyping his match against Hiroyuki Tenzan for weeks, and it was basically a squash, and WCW actually spent time building up Tenzan, too.
