Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted July 4, 2003 A blurb from the Observer: Combat Zone Wrestling on 7/20 at Viking Hall in Philadelphia has Trent Acid & B-Boy vs. Homicide & Mafia, Tony Mamaluke vs. Reckless Youth and the return of A.J. Styles. They also continue the tournament of death on 7/26 in Dover, DE at Rack's Bar and Billiards Acid/B-Boy vs. Homicide and Mafia is going to be stiff central, as Acid and Homicide have put on great matches in both ROH and CZW as of late. B-Boy is another favorite of mine (I'm a fan of HI-V as a whole) and Mafia impressed me at ROH in Cambridge. Should be a great contest. Reckless Youth (was the name change just for ROH) vs. Tony Mamaluke will probably be more submission based, but entertaining. I've been a Reckless fan for a while now, and Mamaluke always bumps his ass off. The crowd should be happy about the return of Styles, as they were less than thrilled when he was ousted early on in the Best of the Best tourney this year. 2 offiical matches announced and I can already say this seems like a good show. The tag match especially could be a showstealer.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Who do you think AJ Styles will face? My top picks: Sonjay Dutt, Johnny Kashmere, Messiah.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 AJ/Sonjay would be good. AJ working in CZW just seems wierd to me though. Im not sure why. It seemed sensible for BOTB, but matches like Messiah/Styles
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Maybe Jay Briscoe if he is at the show since they kind of started a feud at Best of the Best.
Guest ConspiracyVictim Report post Posted July 4, 2003 The Messiah vs. AJ Stlyles would be great. The whole event would be great. On a side note...just got Extreme 8 and it is a pretty good event also and I cant wait to TOD. JC Bailey vs. Nick Mondo could be insane and maybe a Necro vs. Nick Gage...im sure we will see a Zandig v. Ian match though...
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 AJ working in CZW just seems wierd to me though. Im not sure why. Probably b/c he's a better worker than anyone else on CZW's entire roster?
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 In all seriousness, though, I'd rather see Mafia wrestle Hatred or Gage in a singles bout than wrestle in a tag team match. And as for Styles....don't book him vs. Messiah, yet. Book him vs. Mondo and then gradually build up a match between him and Messiah for TOD or COD or some other big show. EDIT: I meant to edit my above post and add this, but I accideantly made a new post. Sorry.
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted July 4, 2003 It's not often a promotion like CZW can grab the NWA World Champ, and who knows how long he'll have it, so from a gate standpoint I'd grab for the big $ and put champion vs. champion. Only problem is AJ can't win in that scenario, and he might not come back if he keeps being booked for screwjob losses. AJ vs. Jimmy Rave would rule all (this match has NEVER happened in NWA Wildside, believe it or not). That would be my recommendation. We could get AJ vs. Jay Briscoe anytime in ROH- I want something unique.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 In terms of the storyline, it's wiser to go with the Maff/Homicide vs. B-Boy/Acid match. Maybe later down the road, throw Maff in there with Gage or Hatred, preferably Gage. AJ vs. almost anybody would rock. Messiah, Mondo, Rave, Jay, Sonjay, Cross, even Blade. What I am really hoping is that CZW announces the last two people for TOD2 BEFORE this show, not at the show or later. Mondo is all but guaranteed, so just go ahead and announce him. With the last person, wait a bit to build up suspense, but don't wait until the very last minute like with E8.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 AJ working in CZW just seems wierd to me though. Im not sure why. Probably b/c he's a better worker than anyone else on CZW's entire roster? lol. Not only that though. I mean AJ Styles on a deathmacth tournament card just doesnt work for me.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 7/20 is the regular Viking Hall show Chunk. It was originally scheduled on 7/12, but it would have been going up against ROH and the Sucktallica concert. As for Styles, it's also because CZW isn't used to having A level indy stars on the show. The last one before Styles in BOTB3 was CM Punk at UFOE, back in September of 2002.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 7/20 is the regular Viking Hall show Chunk. It was originally scheduled on 7/12, but it would have been going up against ROH and the Sucktallica concert. I was aiming that comment mainly at: Book him vs. Mondo and then gradually build up a match between him and Messiah for TOD or COD or some other big show. But I do agree with: As for Styles, it's also because CZW isn't used to having A level indy stars on the show. The last one before Styles in BOTB3 was CM Punk at UFOE, back in September of 2002. I think thats probably what it is. Along with the fact that AJ has a squeaky clean image, sand CZW has a deathmatch image.
Guest trickstyle_360 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 AJ/Jimmy Rave vs the Briscoes would make sense. AJ went out in the 1st round because Jay Briscoe came in and made him tap. Jimmy Rave got beat by Jay Briscoe in the 2nd round. Plus AJ had a fued with the Briscoes over the tag belts in ROH. Thing is, I heard CZW is gonna book Ruckus vs AJ.....and CZW will put Ruckus over him, for sure.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Plus NICK GAGE VS. NATE HATRED was announced on CZWWrestling.com Which makes the already good looking card look even better, Since "UnCivilized" (Which was still a good show IMO) CZW has been on a serious roll. I can't remember the last "Bad" ECW/CZW Arena show they've done.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2003 Thing is, I heard CZW is gonna book Ruckus vs AJ.....and CZW will put Ruckus over him, for sure. That will bite big time. Ruckus going over the NWA world champion! Plus it would make AJ look shite in CZW.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted July 7, 2003 Bleh. If AJ's willing to put someone over, let it be ANYONE but Ruckus. That said though, I'm guessing that he'll get put in a tag situation (where he wouldn't have to be the one to get pinned), or taking on an ROH/NWA alumnus like a Briscoe or Jimmy Rave.
