Worst Internet vs Wrestling feuds

Reading about the Trish interview fiasco made me recall some of the more worse wrestling internet "scandals" of the past and just thought I'd jot down some of the more intresting ones:

 

-Lita vs her "official" website

Also Vampiro had friction between his webmaster as well but this was much more hilarious. Apparantly the webmaster spoke wth Lita and was told she and The Hardyz were punished for being too stiff and were off TV for some time (this was after either their beatdown by Taker or the Austin-HHH beatdown)

 

Well soon after Lita on WWF.com said that was untrue and amydumas.net was shut down

 

-Sean Shannon vs Steve Corino

Probably the most famous. Corino lambastes Shannon for anti-ECW comments (including lack of workrate) and challenges Sean to match due to the whole "You can't wrestle therefore you are not allowed to make comments" argument. To which Sean replied that he had phyisical problems could never even play round of golf let alone step in a wrestling ring. To which Corino called Sean a liar. Intrestingly enough because Sean was such a nut seemed like the IWC took Corino's side

 

-Jericho vs The Smarks

June of 2002, Y2J posted a scathing commentary on his own site lambasting the internet for dumping on his KOR match. Well this former Internet-Friendly wrestler hasn't been seen online since (even on WWE.com)

 

Those are probably the bigger ones I can think of. I'd add comments by HHH and Bradshaw but those are more one-sided and are "WWE santioned" interviews and are part of a long time Wrestlers vs IWC feud that seems to go back to the early days of the internet

Basically, it came down to someone at WU making racist comments towards the Rock, and him storming off a radio show because of it.

All right, I've had it. You want a war? Now you've got one. I'm suffering from a bout of insomnia, so I decided to go on the web and check out the reviews of the King Of The Ring from tonight, more specifically on the PW Torch website. After reading what all of you "smarks" (and believe me, you are all still marks) had to say about my match and the show, I am

furious.

 

Everybody has the right to an opinion and here's mine. I am sick of all you holier than thou, pompous, jackasses. That's it. That's all. Baby goes to sleep now. I had one of my best matches of the year tonight with RVD, that featured 20 minutes of tremendous action, innovative false finishes and an absolutely tremendous crowd. It was everything I could've asked for in a match and it was in my opinion, an off the charts performance from RVD and myself, match of the year caliber . I was so excited about the contest and I can humbly state that we stole the show. The crowd was so into it that they were burned out after we went on, quiet for the next 3-4 matches. They ate up every move from start to finish, and they enjoyed the hell out of it.

 

But now I read the opinions of some of you. Many of you state that the

match was very good or excellent. I agree. But many others are saying that the match was slow and predictable with one jackass even saying that it was one of the worst matches of my career!!! How can you honestly say that? What the hell do you people want? What is it that you are looking for? We go out there and bust our asses to entertain you (and if the Columbus fans were quiet, they sure as hell weren't during my match, they were entertained) and your thoughts were that bad?

 

Well if you didn't like my match tonight, then you are out of luck if you're a Jericho fan, cause it was the best you're gonna get, jerky. That was CJ at his finest. Wrestling at it's finest. A great 4 1/2 star performance with a tremendous build, a great crowd and an awesome match.

 

If you didn't like it, then stop watching me and stop watching the WWE and take up bowling, cause you will never like anything we give you.

 

I'm the first one to admit when my performance is not up to snuff, or when

something was bad and I'm the most self critical person on the WWE roster, but tonight's performance was me at my finest. Didn't like it? Get the F out then and good riddance to you.

 

For all of you that enjoyed my match I say thanks. For those that didn't

like it, I don't care cause I'm through with you.

 

I am now finished with the internet and I'm finished with this site because I hate what you marks are doing. You've spoiled it for me. Your negativity is ridiculous. You all come off like a bunch of bitter know-it alls, who won't be happy with anything we give you. Nothing is ever good enough and quite frankly I'm over it. You are the same people that are saying that Attack of the Clones is boring, analyzing every little detail, instead of allowing yourselves to be entertained by it's magic.

 

It seems that some of you wish the wrestling business would dry up and die, because some of you dislike EVERYTHING we do. Is it always good? No, but we are killing ourselves to try and entertain you and if you don't respect that, then kiss my ass. I want the business to be around forever and I am doing my part to keep it great and I did that tonight, no matter what any of you think.

 

Alot of the boys pander to you on their websites, asking for your input and your thoughts and I used to be one of them. Guess what? I'm not anymore. Think what you want. I don't care. Do what you want. I don't care. Respond how you want too as well, because I won't be reading. I don't give a damn about what you think anymore...

Just to add, a point could be made that Jericho's comments were probably done to keep up his heel personae. Up untill then he kind of was his normal self online even during his runs as a heel.

 

And in June of 2002 he had been a top-card heel since November of 2001 and it was probably decided that he should stay in character and shouldn't be bothered with talking to peons that go to his website.

 

 

Also I just remebered about the biggest "mountain out of a molehill" situation involving the WWE vs The Internet.

 

Back during June of 2001 they did the infamous Stalker angle with Undertaker and Sarah Callaway where DDP was revealed to be stalking Undertaker's wife.

 

Anyway a week or so into the angle someone recorded the "stalker's" comments off of Raw, made the modifications to it so it could be heard as it was orignally recorded and it turned out to be Vince McMahon himself that recorded the voice overs of stalker footage of Sarah and Taker.

 

Anyway as anyone knows Vince wasn't even considered a canidate for the "stalker" maybe as an out of left field situation (Vince being a dirty old man and Taker had been in a feud with him and Austin-HHH) but it had to be someone Taker could wrestle and Vince was just doing the voice overs, hell report came out that week that Vince was down in Texas with the Callaways doing work on the various "stalker videos" so put two and two together, obviously Vince should have been the guy reading the scripts (though it would have been pretty funny if it was revealed that it was Taker reading the scripts)

 

Anyway the guy emails Scott Keith of all people (at thesmarks.com ) and Scott puts it on the site (or the old fourm)

 

Needless to say the WWF legal department went ballistic and forced Scott and Jermey Botter to either remove the file or cease and desist

 

Pretty funny considering they rarely go after many of the "WWE Sounds" sites that sometimes put up full segments on line

Castrates his writing style, refuses to criticize or say anything bad against HHH during the second half of 2002, and only bitches at the small insignifigant things in the WWE and little Scooter STILL can't get hired by the WWE despite applying four times to the writing staff last year.

Keith isn't bitter in his rants these days, he's just half-assing it with 99% of his writing being castrated tripe.
