The Nightmare on Elm Street box set...

Once again, I have aquired a bunch of points at another free DVD web site. I have just enough to pick this set up but I wanted to see what all of you thought of it first, if any of you have any idea. Would you go for this or would you go for another box set?

 

Is this set worth picking up, if you are at least a minor fan of the films?

By the way, I'm really trying to just get horror DVDs, so focus on that if you don't think this is a good set. I might just get the Pot of Gore set, lol.

It's worth it for the first couple of movies I guess. Once it gets to 4 the movies start to struggle.

I love Dream Child (I think that's the one of the ones I really like, I don't really remember as it's been years since I've seen all of them), the first one, and I really love New Nightmare. What other horror box sets are out there that are worth picking up then? I have the Scream set now if you are going to mention that one, heh.

If it's free the Nightmare set is totally worth it. I can't think of any others off the top of my head at the moment though.

True. Keep in mind though, that almost any other set is fair game also. I just found out that this place carries the Godfather set, so I'm really confused now.

i own this boxset, and even if u dont like all the movies (Dream Child is the only one i really dislike), the DVDs are top-notch.

 

All have great video and audio quality, plus this includes the 8th disc ''Nightmare Encyclopedia'' of pure extras for all the movies, games, trailers, etc. Hours worth of extras there.

 

i say pick it up, one of my favorite sets.

I bought it at the end of May. My friends and I were watching Jason X and Will, resident Jason mark, was so upset by everyone hating on the movie, he rented several Friday the 13th flicks to prove to us that the series was good. After that, we decided we needed more horror movies in our lives, and A Nightmare on Elm Street was brought up. I took a trip to Wal*Mart the next day to pick up the original for $10 and saw the box set on sale for only $70. I left and went to Best Buy with the guys and saw the set for over $100, and that sealed the deal. We went to Wal*Mart and picked up the boxset, and its the only way to get these movies. It doesn't matter if you only like the original, third, and New Nightmare, the box set goes the whole nine yards (and screws over people who bought the DVDs seperately, which was their own fault and mistake) with the Nightmare Encyclopedia and 3D GLASSES~! I was actually thinking of doing a review of the set, but I haven't even had time to go through the Nightmare Trivia Game/Labyrinth.

 

And I thought I got the deal of the century by putting down $70. If you can get it for free, get it.

I WOULD recommend the Alien set but the new Alien Quadrology is coming out in a few months.

 

 

As for the Nightmare set, I used to own it. Movies one, three, and six are worth watching IMHO but I hated five and seven (New Nightmare) in particular). The Nightmare Encyclopedia is kind of interesting but can be annoying as hell if you're searching through it without an FAQ. There is a lot of cool stuff in there, though, like Freddy as an MTV vee-jay and some music videos. (I don't think I ever found one for DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince's "Nightmare On My Street" though)

The only movie I dislike in the series is part 2, so I think it's a great set.

 

However, I'd say it's still a good box set even for those who don't love all of the films.

Yes definetley get this. I own it and it was worth the 70 i gave for it. great picture and sound. It is 8 free dvd's for you so yes it is a must have for a horror fan.

No. Part 2: Freddy's Revenge was so gay (and I do mean homoerotic) that they even have to address the homoerotic tendencies of the film in the Nightmare Encyclopedia. Part 3 is on of the better movies and features one of Freddy's most popular lines:
