Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 It's been a pretty hectic weekend for me, and it appears it's been this way on TSM as well. I didn't want to reopen the Caboose thread, and I'm not looking to reopen the can o' worms, but here's my take on what I've seen. Miscommunication is just one of the flaws of the internet. No one can see us smirking when we're kidding, no one can see us fuming if we're mad. All that can be seen is the written word on the screen, and those can be taken anyway the reader chose to take them. Words are a powerful entity. Caboose have been doing nothing but making jabs at people (himself included!) since he got back here. I don't think this was all done out of spite, but rather a joke, half-in character, half-"prankster Caboose" that got kicked up a notch by the replies of others who were keeping within the confines of their OAOAST personas. I could pretty much tell it was a joke getting out of hand when Caboose asked SP to "fed ex his modship" because if there is anyone here that NEVER causes a stir, does his work quietly and wants to move onto the next venture, it's SP. Caboose would never start with someone out of the blue, let alone Poet. Sandman, you and I talk a lot, and I understand why you left, and bear no grudges to you for it. Some people just have to move on. Same thing with Superstar, who I've taken under my wing this last year or so. There's a reason why I call him my "little brother" and I'm glad that he's found so much enjoyment and success in the SJL/SWF. I never wanted him to leave, as I talked with him over AIM, always attempted to compromise, and just tried to keep things going for his character. I felt that I failed somewhat when he decided not to stick around, but it just "woke me up" a bit more. I can't leave this place. I can't get out while I can. Because over a year ago, this place was all about praising angle, the insane escapades of Mario Logan, and myself. I never got recruited, I never got asked...I just popped in and started posting. Over a year later, here I am...moderating the place. My writing skills and my assistance to other posters were good enough that I got to be "on the inside" so to speak. My efforts were good enough that Anglesault decided that he drop the belt to me at what stands out as our best show to date. I can't walk away from that. I also could never walk away from what we've started here on HeldDOWN~! Many people felt the draft wouldn't work, that the shows would seem watered down, or that interest would fade. If you look at some of the major players here, they all came later...Crystal, Shattered Dreams, Totally Endorsed, Foshi...everyone on the HeldDOWN~! roster...we have come so far since this past spring. I was able to talk Caboose, a man once spurned by this place, into coming back. I won Some Guy back. CWM. Why? Because I don't want the in-fighting dragging us down. Because I will always stand to the side as a voice of reason. At the end of the day, what does being OAOAST World Champion do for me? Does it get me a discount at the mall? Does it get me free meals? No...all it is is a title...a slogan...an achievement that I gained over the internet. An achievement that I'm proud of. I'm proud of this place. I'm proud of the work of myself and everyone here. I'm proud of the friends I've made doing this. You can't put a price on things like that. This thing is going to start sounding like a Presidential Address with me rambling on and all, so I'll close with the following: No matter how bad things get, no matter how bad things may seem...I don't care if it was down to Zack Malibu, Mystery Eskimo and The Slacker left on the roster...I'd still keep chugging away, trying to do what I've always done...make sure we're all having fun.

Trust me, if it was only so many few of us left, I'd not be one of the ones you can depend on. I'm still trying to rebound myself here in the confidence department. I'm only ideas right now, and no substance to the writing. If you look back at the last few months, what have I done? That's right.
