Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Please feel free to flame me or leave sympathy as I am off to have my 4 wisdom teeth (attached to the bone) pulled out. To say the least, I'm listening to Coldplay - Clocks right now. LOL. Later out.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Back in my high school days, my dentist always told me that my wisdom teeth needed pulled. Since I'm a big wimp, I kept putting it off. Every time I went he was in amazement that my wisdom teeth weren't bothering me. Years later, when I went to another dentist, I asked him about my wisdom teeth. He said that they were fine and didn't need pulled. And this is why I don't trust the medical industry...
Guest El Gigante Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I had mine pulled out the day before SummerSlam 2001. It hurt like a bitch at first but later that night I was out and about. You just cant eat solid foods for a week or so, but hey you cant go wrong with soup.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I had all four out at once as well, back in late '99. Never took pain medication, it never bothered me, and I started my new (now current) job 2 days later. The worst part about the whole ordeal is not eating solid foods for a week or two, though soup, ice cream, and baby food (yes, baby food) kept me going. Guest The Old Me Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Milk tha pain, call in stronger pain killers and what not. I had 5 pulled, as one infected an innocent molar. My only problem was that I got sick of the soft foods, and started eating pizza the next day and woke up the next morning with a bloody mess on my pillow. But get some vicadin damn you. Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I got to keep mine, too. Actually, I was given the choice of whether to pull them or not, so naturally I kept them ( I think they seal them, or something).
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I'm getting mine out next Wednesday (16th) and a customer at my store gave me a good tip for it. " If they give you Tylenol 3 w/ Codeine, tell them it upsets your stomach and they'll give you something stronger."

To say the least, I'm listening to Coldplay - Clocks right now. LOL. Later out. Why don't you just have oral surgery? They knock you out cold and it only takes 10 minutes. I had 4 teeth out that way before I had braces, and my 4 wisdom teeth out about 2 years ago.
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Oh man, I have to have mine pulled after I get my braces out(hopefully~! next winter)...I'm not looking forward to the surgery, I have 6 fuckin wisdom teeth.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Well, I'm up and about. It hurts a little, but I've only taken one painkiller and it hasn't done much...so blah. I think I'll probably be fine by tommorow, after a good night's sleep. I was under General Anthesa and the procedure took like 45 minutes (if I recall him saying before I passed out). Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted July 8, 2003 What is it exactly about wisdom teeth that's supposed to bother you? I ask because I've got a wisdom tooth growing in now.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted July 8, 2003 It all depends on how big your mouth is and how fast they grow in. My mouth is too small and my teeth are growing in at too fast of a rate. If I didn't get them out they'd compact my jaw and cause serious pain so it's best to nip it in the bud. My dad's wisdom teeth grew in perfectly fine because his mouth is big enough for them. Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I think sometimes they put pressure on your other teeth, causing pain and discomfort. I had mine out about a year and a half ago and it didn't bother me that much. I bled a little, I guess, but only for a day or so. I had heard all these horror stories about how much it hurt, but I didn't feel it.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I stopped bleeding like...3 hours after the surgery...but my bottom jaws are just fucking KILLING, even with painkillers. Just deal with the pain, I guess. It's really not that bad, to be honest....it just sucks.
Guest El Gigante Report post Posted July 8, 2003 You just gotta deal with it. Try to do something that will take your mind off the pain and it will seem to go away. You will be back to normal soon enough. When I got mine pulled my mom bought me a Pro Wrestling Illustrated, that helped for like 5 minuites then the pain returned. Guest The ChriZa Report post Posted July 8, 2003 If you have insurance, how much does it cost, roughly, for them to put you under? I still don't have mine out but my friend told me that they gassed him before doing it. It went something like "Okay now count backwards from 100." "100...99...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" And an hour later he woke up drooling and was just generally silly all day. Never felt a thing, though.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 8, 2003 So far only one of mine has broken through the gum. Based on that one, there should be more than enough room for the other three to grow in, so maybe I won't have any problems. As far as oral surgery goes, I only had one. They didn't knock me out for it, just Novacaine. What happened was the dentist found why he thought was a cyst in my jawbone. If the fluid isn't taken out and new bone growth does not take place, one impact shot to my jaw and I would need reconstructive surgery. So I go to the surgeon and get six or seven shots. They make an incision and drill a hole through my jaw until they hit the cyst. Turns out it's actually not a cyst, but an empty hole. Either way, they sucked out all the nerves that were in there and since then the bone has filled it in. The stitches hurt like hell though. I remember that each day I would pull out as much of them as I could. By the time I went back for him to remove the stitches, there was practically nothing there for him to take out. Since then (two years ago) I have went to the dentist once. Yeah, I hate dentists. Doctors don't bother me as much, although if I didn't HAVE to, I wouldn't get an annual physical. Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 I have to get mine done, as one of them disintegrated, causing enough discomfort on the right side of my mouth at time to force me to chew food on my left..... Combine that with my cavities and my chipped teeth in front (one from being hit in the mouth with a rock when I was a kid and the other from getting elbowed in the mouth playing basketball), and any dentist is going to look at me and see a two week vacation. In Tahiti. All expenses paid.
Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted July 9, 2003 I've been advised to have my lower wisdom teeth taken out ASAP since one of them threatens to take out one of my good teeth since it's growing in damn near sideways.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 9, 2003 My dentist is always telling me to get mine removed. I had one removed about 3 years. That was only because the pain was excrutiating.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 9, 2003 And this is why I don't trust the medical industry... What is the link between these crafts? Doctors and thieves, They both wear masks. Overpaid Meat Magicians.
Guest BigPoppaKev Report post Posted July 9, 2003 I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled around Wrestlemania 18 and for me it was awful. The pain meds that they gave me made me sick and that sucked. Also the whole deal with not being able to eat solid foods wore on me quick so I was eating steak the next day and as a result a bloody mess occured in my mouth and that wasn't too fun. If I had to do it again there is no way I would get my wisdom teeth pulled.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2003 How's the bleeding HartFan? Mine didn't hurt too bad, but I bled like a pig for about 6 days. All I remember about mine is that I drank a shitload and grilled out up until midnight, which was my deadline to stop for the 11 am surgery. I think karma bit me though with all that bleeding, but yeah the gassing was sweet although I looked like a newborn deer after the surgery.

Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 12, 2003 How's the bleeding HartFan? Mine didn't hurt too bad, but I bled like a pig for about 6 days. Exact opposite with me. The pain is just starting to go away now, even though I stopped bleeding after about 3-4 hours after surgery. Seriously. I had gauss in my mouth, came home and took a nap, woke up and put some new ones in, then took it out like 10 minutes later cause the bleed had stopped. Fuck, I wanted to be the one to start it. I could say you could do it next time.....but...

Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted July 12, 2003 I had 3 taken out- no pain medication, surprisingly little pain period. I think it's because they weren't attached to anything and became deteriotated in the gums, something like that.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted July 18, 2003 It's been two days since I got mine out and I must say, the procedure itself is overrated. The pain is barely there but the real bitch of the situation is that my diet has consisted of soup, oatmeal, jello and custard for the last couple days and it will probably continue to be as such well into next week.
