Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 9, 2003 http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ap/20030709/105776100000.html quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ex-Stripper Sues Pam Anderson Over Show Wednesday July 9 7:30 AM ET A former stripper is demanding an end to the new cable television show "Stripperella," an animated series featuring Pamela Anderson as the voice of a stripper who moonlights as a superhero. Janet Clover, 37, filed suit Monday against Anderson and comic book legend Stan Lee, who created "Stripperella" as well as "Spider-Man" and "The Hulk." Also named as defendants are Viacom TV Networks doing business as TNN. Clover claims she is Stripperella's "true creator," according to the lawsuit filed in Daytona Beach circuit court. Clover, an unemployed Palm Coast resident who identifies herself in the lawsuit as "Sensual Entertainer's Home Studio Founder," said she wrote and filed the suit without the advice or assistance of an attorney. "This office challenges Lee to produce proof of his creative work, as true authorship belongs to Tanga's Jazz," she wrote, referring to an adult club in Tampa where she claims she asked Lee about the concept of Stripperella a year ago during a private dance session. "Evidence to support is available upon request," she wrote. Viacom officials in New York referred comment to media spokesman Robert Pini in Los Angeles, but he did not return several phone messages. Anderson's agent, Hedda Moye of Los Angeles, declined to comment. "I'm just trying to get this off TV because it's not his idea," Clover told The Daytona Beach News-Journal. "She was supposed to be a nurse, which is what I'm studying for. I can't remember much about Mr. Lee, little bits and pieces come back. You know, I meet a lot of men." "Stripperella" first aired last Thursday on TNN, which is being renamed Spike TV. Viacom is the cable network's parent company. ___ Information from: The Daytona Beach News-Journal, http://www.news-journalonline.com
Guest mach7 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Ugh, lawsuits over shit like this is lame. Either way I hope "striperella" gets canned. What a dumb excuse for a show...
Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted July 9, 2003 OK, this is hilarious. My friend and I at work came up with the idea, a few months ago for a Cartoon called 'Wheelchair Dude and Hooker Girl' (based off of nicknames for 2 people we know) and then we started to learn Flash to actually make these cartoons. Wheelchair dude was a Viet Nam vet who lost his legs and opened a Strip Club called 'the Blew Note' and Hooker Girl was one of his strippers. When they drank some radioactive beer intended to kill them (He through evil Dr. Wang out when he got too touchy-feely) they got their super powers. Then we see this Striparella. And in the first episode, she goes and gets orders from A DUDE IN A WHEELCHAIR (he threw the wheelchair into the fire and started walking around, then I turned off the TV) But can I sue too? Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 9, 2003 But can I sue too? Do you have doccumented proof of this? And if so better do it before the show and network go under.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 9, 2003 But be prepared to be sued by Ms. Clovers for stealing her concept of suing Stan Lee over ridiculous claims
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Isn't the show only on for 2 more episodes anyway? Or was that a false rumour? From the TV Tome editor for the show... "The Big Cartoon Database" reports that Stripperella is dead, with only four episodes finished and the crew laid off. The report claims that TNN will repeat these episodes ad infinitum until a replacement is found and that TNN doesn't have anything further to say, being currently caught up in the lawsuit with Spike Lee. (EDITOR'S NOTE: I'm not familiar with BCDB so I don't know how reliable the source is. Even the person who reported this at BCDB doesn't seem sure about the future of the show. Consider this a rumor until something more concrete, such as a news report or press release, becomes available.) Cancelled or not, I guess she can still sue over what episodes did air and the fact it's currently a comic book.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 It's America, you can sue ANYONE~! *sues RRR* This whole thing with Spike TV having problems with everything is more amusing than any show on the channel.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Wow -- Spike TV ought to have a reality-type show that documents the day-to-day events of the network office...
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 just cancel it, the show is *not* worth the time and money to fight a lawsuit over
Guest Kagato Otaku Report post Posted July 9, 2003 just cancel it, the show is *not* worth the time and money to fight a lawsuit over Stripperella was cancelled before it ever premiered. The episodes that were made will air, but no new eps will be created after this initial batch, as Venkman said. Not sure what they could replace it with in their animation block. They're already running an hour of "Ren & Stimpy".

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Damn that sucks. Stan Lee being involved was originally my only reason to give the show a chance. Surprisingly I actually like the show.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted July 9, 2003 "She was supposed to be a nurse, which is what I'm studying for. She sunk herself right there. That proves that it's not the exact same character. To win a lawsuit like this you have to prove that the character is almost 100% the same and that she not only had contact with Stan Lee, but discussed her own original ideas about the character with him. She needs to hire lawyer, because she's fucking herself up the ass (probably not the first time). Odd that they cancelled Stripperella after all the hype and push it gave it and the other animated shows.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 9, 2003 A stripper who strips as a night job to help out her real life. That's the story for 90% of strippers. She doesn't even remember if she spoke to Stan Lee. This will be thrown out quickly unless she has some sort of proof.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Sue them for EVERYTHING but make SURE that you have Johnny Cochran as your lawyer....THEN ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

Well, Marvel for the longest time didn't really acknowledge Jack Kirby or Steve Ditko when mentioning the creation of the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man etc. so I suppose you could connect A to H somehow... Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I still can't get over all the promotion for this show that has already been cancelled. Pam was EVERYWHERE and TNN has Striparella in all their promos. What's the deal? When I first saw the cancelled thing, my brain turned it into logic by assuming that another network cancelled the show, and TNN picked it up. Seriously, TNN needs "The Opie and Anthony TV Show" They are already under contract with Viacom!
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted July 11, 2003 I'm pissed that they moved CSI from after Raw to Friday nights. I hope it gets moved back after they can the shitfest that is Stripperella.

When I first saw the cancelled thing, my brain turned it into logic by assuming that another network cancelled the show, and TNN picked it up. Eh, the Scifi Channel promoted Farscape despite the fact that it had been canceled 6 months ago. Maybe because they knew their whole lineup revolved around that show. Man, that still pisses me off. Oh well. I say TNN should just cancel the whole "first network for men" thing. The name got delayed, they only pushed three new shows, all of which didn't exactly get rave reviews and one which is already gone. They should just kill the thing and start fresh, not advertising as the "exclusive network for men" but rather an entertaining network.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 11, 2003 Um...if what she really wants is the show to go off the air and it's already been cancelled, then what the fuck is the point of pursuing the lawsuit? Idiot.
