EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2003 OK. So July 16th, Gary Payton wears the royal purple and yellow. Karl Malone is pretty much a Laker after much speculation on ESPN and such, with many people saying that instead of being 50/50 on his decision, that he is almost a shoe-in for the Lakers. My question, if I may borrow from Bill Swerski's Super Fans, is not if they will win the title, but how many times?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Why do you think having all those guys mean they will win the title? The Rockets and Trailblazers both tried to load up teams with tons of talent and they didn't win the title
Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Seeing Malone in a NBA uniform that doesn't say "Utah" or Jazz"is just wrong...
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Barron has a point. On Paper they'll have one of the better teams, but that doesn't always translate out when the season begins. Wait and see.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Back when the Rockets had Pippen, Barkley and Hakeem, weren't there some injuries that hampered Houston? The "LA Four" seem to be rather healthy in regards to avoiding the injury bug, Shaq's feet notwithstanding...
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Why don't Barkley, Stockton, Ewing, Wilkens, Mullin, and whoever was deserving of a title just go and sign with LA so they can all get rings and end their careers happily. Why doesn't everyone just become a Laker then, so no one loses?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted July 10, 2003 This will lead to the implosion and ultimate downfall of the Lakers.
Guest Smues Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Yay just when I was starting to regain interest in the NBA they lose me again. Bye bye NBA, and fuck you LA.

Nope, a slasher was not effective in houston with Barkley and Hakeem standing on the block needing the ball. They were great players but not together. Same here. it doesn't match. Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted July 11, 2003 Im going with the "Wait and See" approach. Im not sure if Payton and Malone will grasp the Triangle offense right away so that might cause them to struggle early. The Lakers are loaded for starters but they still don't have bench depth compared to the Kings and Mavericks, so I wouldn't give Lakers the trophy right now.
