(AP) Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson accused President Bush of ''undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels'' by asking Liberian President Charles Taylor, recently indicted for war crimes, to step down. ''How dare the president of the United States say to the duly elected president of another country, 'You've got to step down,''' Robertson said Monday on ''The 700 Club,'' broadcast from his Christian Broadcasting Network. ''It's one thing to say, we will give you money if you step down and we will give you troops if you step down, but just to order him to step down? He doesn't work for us.'' Silly.

Guest Cancer Marney Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Democrats have to take as much responsibility for creating the atmosphere in which the likes of Jerry Springer can become even halfway serious candidates as Christians have to take for creating the atmosphere in which the "fundies" are treated even halfway seriously by anyone, anyone at all. And conservatives have to take responsibility for the likes of Michael Savage. Don't try to pretend that assholes like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell have nothing to do with Christianity, because they do. They are products of Christianity, flawed and disgusting products, the eczema of the Bible (which itself contains entire books which are shitholes of immorality and barbarism and sadistic cruelty), but products of it nevertheless. Denying it and trying to insert an imaginary separation that disavows any and all responsibility just makes people look ridiculous. Like delusional naifs at best, and conscienceless liars at worst. Almost like Moslems, come to think of it.

I have no personal responsibility to Robertson, Falwell, or anyone else I am not personally involved with. I'm not a part of his denomination, I tithe no funds to anything he is associated with, and very likely disagree with him/them on many things. Myself, nor my denomination have any responsibility to disavow. One of the first things to be learned as a Christian is that God is a personal God. He deals with you, and you with Him. The sins of others are not yours to carry with you. What the fundies do, the fundies do. What other Christians do, other Christians do. I wouldn't hold, say, JMA, personally responsible, or the liberal people group personally responsible, for the actions of one prominent figure. I find that stupid and childish. I don't deal with cliques. I deal with people. Individuals. Extremism and hardcore fundamentalism is not a product of the Grace that I know. So no, I am not personally responsible, nor are any of the Christians I am affiliated with, for the words, beliefs, and/or actions of any fundamentalist Christian figure. You, of course, have every right to attempt to apply it to me and/or all Christians if you want. Your judgement means nothing in the end.

Just thought I add that before we get into a complete bashing. I think that religion and non religious sectors have been responsible for some of the more nastier events in History. Just because one has beliefs in a certain thing, doesn't juststify the worse which has been done under it's name.
