Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 11, 2003 As long as the music stays as good as it was under Ripper, who cares. Personally, I've always found Priest overrated, and Halford's voice annoying. He's got NOTHING on Bruce, man.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted July 11, 2003 Wow, this sucks, actually. Halford's solo stuff was entertaining enough, and Ripper was getting his chance to shine. Dammit.
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted July 11, 2003 I'm indifferent to this right now. I had NO problems with Ripper, and I've enoyed the last two Priest CDs. I kinda perfer Ripper in some aspects as well, because he doesn't seem to feel the need to constantly show off how high he can sing. We KNOW you can scream really high-pitched, Rob - you don't need to keep proving it. However, I've found Halford to be kinda...bleh. Not bad, but nothing I ever really WANT to listen to. I'll reserve judgement until I actually hear them play something - if nothing else, this means that Halford is back co-writing for Priest, which could work out very well. Or, you know, it could suck. And Corey, if you haven't already, you should check out Halford's "The One You Love to Hate". Bruce does vocals with Rob on that, and it's actually kinda surprising (to me, anyway) how similar they can sound. Not a bad song, either.

Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted July 11, 2003 Though I didn't mind Judas Priest with Ripper Owens, Ripper just couldn't hold his own live.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 15, 2003 This year really IS a good year for metal. Shadows Fall, one of the most promising acts in YEARS, is a headliner at one of the Northeast's largest rock festivals, LocoBazooka. Metallica releases a new album and a subsequent tour (albeit both are disappointing, but still). Black Label Society gains more popularity with the release of the single "Stillborn" off of The Blessed Hellride. Iron Maiden goes back on tour. Type O Negative releases a new album and a subsequent tour. Heavy rumors of New Found Power, the new band by ex-Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell and ex-Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul, releasing an album are confirmed. Cradle Of Filth headlines the second stage of the US OzzFest tour. Rob Halford rejoins Judas Priest.
