Guest The Czech Republic Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 In my first encounter, I told him that "Valerie" was written and recorded psat Winwood's "prime." You're copping out sylea220: no i'm not, he is not mainstream sylea220: just like Benoit isn't mainstream ChicagoLoop979: oh yeah, Steve Winwood, big underground name sylea220: underground, but not mainstream ChicagoLoop979: okay you're dumb sylea220: try to disprove me with a mainstream name blah blah blah sylea220: on TSM they listed wrestlers sylea220: not no name randoms who aren't mainstream sylea220: and the wrestlers they listed, they couldn't disprove the concept sylea220: they tried though ChicagoLoop979: like who? who's a no name random? sylea220: Steve Woodward sylea220: or Chris Benoit, or Eddie Guerrero, or even Kurt Angle ChicagoLoop979: Steve Woodward???? sylea220: nobody knows who those guys are if they don't follow music in Woodward's case ChicagoLoop979: that's not his name sylea220: or wrestling in those 3 wrestlers cases sylea220: right sylea220: i don't remember his name ChicagoLoop979: Steve Winwood, from Traffic sylea220: because he isn't important sylea220: if he was important, he would be mainstream sylea220: Sammy Sosa is mainstream ChicagoLoop979: "Valerie" was a hit in the 80s! sylea220: everybody knows who he is because of the mcgwire/sosa chase from 1998 sylea220: so? sylea220: that just applies to movies sylea220: is it mainstream? sylea220: is it discussed now ChicagoLoop979: yes! sylea220: nope ChicagoLoop979: It's on the radio a lot here sylea220: not on national websites sylea220: or on broadcast tv sylea220: forget about that guy I just love how me and Prime discussed Steve freaking Winwood. or Woodward.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Who the fuck is Sammy Sosa?
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 Well, that clears that up then...
Guest DrTom Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 I think Prime can go fall of a cliff, but I do have to say that Steve Winwood isn't very mainstream. He hasn't meant dick to the music scene since the mid-80s, and how much he meant then is questionable.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted July 13, 2003 Report Posted July 13, 2003 Prime also said Wayne Gretzky was lazy.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 As a solo artist, Steve Winwood is primarily associated with the highly polished blue-eyed soul-pop that made him a star in the '80s. Yet his turn as a slick, upscale mainstay of adult contemporary radio was simply the latest phase of a long and varied career, one that's seen the former teenage R&B shouter move through jazz, psychedelia, blues-rock, and progressive rock. Possessed of a powerful, utterly distinctive voice, Winwood was also an excellent keyboardist who remained an in-demand session musician for most of his career, even while busy with high-profile projects. That background wasn't necessarily apparent on his solo records, which established a viable commercial formula that was tremendously effective as long as it was executed with commitment. "Back In The High Life" is daft.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 All I know is that Prime Guy is the same boy he used to be.
