Hi all,

Is RR03 worth buying for Angle/Benoit? Any good extras on the DVD?

Hey, if Batista vs Kane vs RVD vs Jericho in an Over the Top rope match isn't enough of an extra to buy the DVD, I don't know what is!

Seriously though, there are some decent fluff pieces about the Rumble history from Confidential on the disk and the 3 Undertaker return promos. The BAd Ass one sucks, but the constant DONGing of the first one gives me an old school chill and the music for the 2nd one rocks.

Benoit vs Angle is that damn good, though. Steiner vs HHH is also hilarious. I reccomend it, and I write for the site (I think), so you know I know what I'm talking about!

Yes- Benoit v. Angle is easily worth the price of the DVD.

The Rumble itself also kicks ass, Brock v. Show is fine and Triple H v. Steiner- well the card isn't perfect.

The extras may not be all that but Paul Heyman's interview is gold.

I'd also recommend the Rumble. Like everyone else says, Benoit-Angle is awesome, and IMO the Rumble match is third best in history, behind 1992 and 2001. Some people may not agree with me, but, hey, it's my opinion.

While I will admit the Rumble loses momentum when it becomes big guys at the end, it was solidly booked leading up to it with some nice spots. My only complaint would be they basically did the exact same spot with Matt and Jeff that they did with Edge and Christian, but I laughed both times.

DVD Extras:

- Revolutionary Royal Rumble TV Spot

- Making of the Royal Rumble TV Spot

- Royal Rumble Moments from 18/01/03 WWE Confidential

- Undertaker Returns at The Rumble: Teaser 1, Teaser 2 & Teaser 3

- Extra Match: Over-The-Top-Rope Challenge Raw 1/13/03 -

Rob Van Dam vs Kane vs Batista vs Chris Jericho

- Pre-Match Interviews: Dawn Marie & Eric Bishoff

- Post Match Interviews: Paul Heyman, Eric Bischoff, Dudley Boyz, Triple H, Team Angle, John Cena & Brock Lesnar

The extras were pretty good. Overall, the event was not very good. However, you HAVE to buy it for Angle / Benoit. The match is THAT damn good. Its a 5 star match, a MOTY candidate, arguably the best match of 2003 so far. And its the best match these two men have put on during their feud, hell even their lifetime.

I actually DO agree with you. While it's not in the same league as the supremely awesome '92 and '01 Rumble matches due to the lackluster sputtering out towards the end, the majority of the match is freakin' great.

It seems that what usually makes a good Royal Rumble is suspense. When there are 4 or 5 people that COULD potentially take the thing (like in '92 and '01), it really makes for some interesting stuff. When everyone can see the winner coming a mile away (like in '98 or '00), the Rumble suffers. Oddly enough, '03 is an exception to this, seeing as how Brock was a virtual lock to win, with Jericho having an outside chance.

I'll always love '97, however, for completely shocking me. I thought Bret had that one in the bag.

Oh yeah, the Rumble '03 DVD is worth it for the Rumble match and especially Benoit vs. Angle. HHH vs. Steiner is a comedic interlude before the serious main events start. Here's a suggestion--Save the HHH vs. Steiner match until last, and then take a drink after every Belly-to-Belly suplex. I say save it until last because, well, no one should have to die before seeing Benoit vs. Angle.

How can a show that in your words features a ***** MOTYC candidate be considered not very good?

Angle v. Benoit is a wee bit overrated- I wouldn't give it 5* (It's way too slow at some points) but it's still a great match.

My MOTY is London v. Dragon.

Because Angle / Benoit saved the 2003 RR from being a complete disaster (Thank God Angle / Benoit came AFTER Steiner / Helmsley). It also tells you something when Dawn / Torrie turns out to be a better match than the World Heavyweight Title match. >_<

And how many f'n suplexes did Scott do in that match?

I've said this 20948 times on this board, so you can find more detailed posts else where.

I was in Boston at the Rumble, and Angle/Benoit is probably the greatest match I've ever seen live...maybe ever. And the Standing Ovation was amazing (you can see me standing and clapping too.) I'll never forget that night.

So get the DVD for that, everything else is just bonuses.

The show was 2 hrs and 35 minutes long-

You have Angle and Benoit in a MOTYC that will probably end up being WWE's MOTY. That's followed by the crowd basically telling Vince McMahon that they like wrestling.

Then you have the Royal Rumble which was the usual great RR.

Benoit v. Angle was around 20 minutes with the Rumble being 54 minutes.

So when 51% is very good-excellent how is the show not very good?

I'll give you that, 2003 RR was A LOT better than 2002 RR.
