A sitdown interview with Goldberg

Recommended Posts

Guest Trivia247

Thanks to Ted Guinness for the following report:

WWE Superstar Goldberg was on KNBR 680 in San Francisco on "The Razor and Mr. T" show yesterday.

*Please note, "The Razor" Ralph Barbiari does not follow wrestling, while "Mr T", former NBA player and ESPN NBA Commentator Tom Tolbert does follow wrestling on occasion (hasn't followed it for awhile).

Goldberg was a little late getting to the show.

He opened up talking about Kevin Greene wrestling. Mr. T asked what he anticipated when going into wrestling. Goldberg said he was big fan of the mixed martial arts, and after bouncing around in the NFL, he fell into wrestling. He said he woke up one day and was in his underwear, in front of people

He was asked about the HBO Real Sports segment. He didn't see it, but heard a lot about it. He compared football to wrestling, and said that the wrestling schedule is more brutal. Considering they have to train everyday and perform night after night, he can understand how some can fall into drug usage, but he doesn't condone it. He added that you have to look yourself in the mirror and figure out what makes you a commodity.

They talked about him being a Jewish athlete. Razor commented about trying to put a baseball all star team (Razor and Mr. T had LA Dodgers Shawn

Greene on the show a couple of weeks ago) together.

He talked about wrestling in Japan and how he took a light schedule. He said it was different performing in front of fans sitting on their hands and barely clapping, as they do in Japan. They talked about Mick Foley's book and compared notes on wrestling in Japan. Goldberg says it's more physical, more stiff, and says that's why he wanted to go wrestle there. The first guy punched him in the mouth and cut him open so Goldberg knocked him out of the ring. He was also told in one of his first WCW matches he was too stiff, and he remembered that when going over there.

They got into Animal rights. He says you can trust animals more than people (jokingly).

He would like to get into TV more saying, "Anytime you can get out of the ring, not take bumps and get paid, I'm all for it." He talked about mic work and said it was six months before he picked up a mic and said something. He didn't want to become a star because of his mouth.

He then promoted the 7/20 San Jose house show and his match vs. Triple H. He put H over and said he was looking forward to facing him. This was an all Kayfabe segment and he said H should be afraid.

Came across as a fun little interview, nothing overly important.

Final note, the conversation about Jewish athletes was about how you don't see many Jewish athletes, and was in no way derogatory in anyway.

I have to wonder if this guy is aware he's such a tool sometimes.

I still don't think Goldberg has fully realized that wrestling is fake. Wanting to go to Japan to wrestle a stiff style is a bit foolish. Wanting to go to Japan to become a better all-around worker or learn to work in a different style or even experience the culture seems more sensible.

"He didn't want to become a star because of his mouth."

See what I mean? It's like he looks down on wrestlers who cut promos to get over and he sees both himself and everyone else as their on-screen characters.

It had to be doubly devastating when he was taken down to the ground by Chris Jericho.

Lazy fucker.

He talked about mic work and said it was six months before he picked up a mic and said something.

Was it anything BESIDES "Who's next?"

He didn't want to become a star because of his mouth.

One of countless reasons why he sucks and why we hate him.

"He didn't want to become a star because of his mouth."

Can't imagine why, couldn't have a thing to do with all of his promos absolutely sucking. The resentment towards guys with charisma is just sad, it's not as if guys like Jericho aren't great wrestlers.

"He said he woke up one day and was in his underwear, in front of people."

Subtle crap like this is what I hate the most. The mainstream disrespect and tired jokes at wrestling's expense. To me, it just further illustrates a hate towards the business that he is in, and that just doesn't make sense. Why be in wrestling, taking the spot of great, deserving and passionate wrestlers if you don't have that passion yourself?

Well we know how he got around the drug usage then. and note to Goldberg..... you're a commodity because your big. Nothing else.

He talked about wrestling in Japan and how he took a light schedule. He said it was different performing in front of fans sitting on their hands and barely clapping, as they do in Japan.

Funny, I always hear thunderous applause after near falls and the like. Oh wait.... that's for wrestlers who can actually.... ya know.... work

He didn't want to become a star because of his mouth.

Don't worry Bill. There's no danger of THAT happening.

Because he enjoys those green slips of paper with pictures of dead presidents. Sad, but true.

Once in a while, a worker comes along who DESERVES to get buried by HHH. Steiner was one, Nash was one, Goldberg is another.

HHH doesn't always use his powers for evil kids, remember that.

Yes, but that truly is a question for the ages: Which is more evil, Triple H's "illegetimate" Title Reign, or Goldberg's career?

That one could take days to figure out.
