Apparently he was white trailer trash in North Carolina with an abusive stepfather. He worshipped the ground his real father walked on, despite the fact that Vince Sr. didn't visit him for years. Edit: I don't think "Beyond the Mat" was the title of the book. I remember it was written by an ESPN sportswriter, I forget who. If anybody knows what I'm talking about, please tell me the title. It has been awhile since I read it.

I remember it being a really great book. No kayfabing or WWF-approved opinion, just a good read on how the WWF got started. Yeah, it said Vince was one wierd guy. Loved the military, loved his father (even though he didn't meet him until he was like 14 or so), married to upper class Linda. From what the book stated, Shane basicly raised Stephanie. You gotta admit, however, that they love each other. Maybe Vince likes Steph a liitle too much for his own good.
