Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I have a sick feeling that this will be a swerve and Bischoff will be blamed and fired. It would really piss me off as SCSA does nothing for me anymore. I wouldn't mind seeing William Regal in the commish role.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 15, 2003 Me neither- but I'm biased. I could see Linda's big thing be to appoint Regal as the intermediary. Oh and are ratings that low that they need to bring her back?
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 15, 2003 Austin is my least favorite part of WWE week in and week out since becoming GM. It was obviously started only because they needed an excuse to keep him on TV now that he is hurt, and it hasn't worked from day one for me. This coming Monday night, I'd put my money on Mick Foley coming back already to begin both his role as GM, as well as his role at Summerslam.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 15, 2003 Foley is still on his book tour I thought. Austin has been awful since he came back in February- Him not being entertaining is nothing new
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 15, 2003 At times Austin has provided the show with some much needed humor. But he hasn't been "on" during his last two appearances.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 16, 2003 At times Austin has provided the show with some much needed humor. But he hasn't been "on" during his last two appearances. Thats why I hate Double standards. Austin is not ON. But hey! its OK, is Austin we should wait for him every single time, it doesnt matter if we have 30 awful minutes of Austin beer drinking or worst segments in Raw/PPV. Or way back in 2002 when he walked away. Austin / Bischoff had I dunno how much time at Bad Blood and, well ok, this time several people hated that, but I'm sure, if Steph and Vince get the same time at vengeance, people here will hate them 10 times worst than Austin/Bischoff. And dont tell me its not the same, if Austin gets the same time or more than any wrestler is equal to any McMahon getting time. Austin right now is no longer an active wrestler. Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Oh, of course it was Austin's idea for the redneck triathalon, and that is exactly what he wants to be doing. He's out there collecting his pay and just going with the shitty flow of the writers.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Mmm lets see.. Vince: Hey Austin you cant wrestle anymore but look we have an idea, YOU as Co-GM! you will be on Screen, You will be booked as your usual badass redneck, Everyone will be at your service.. Austin: What about Bischoff? Vince: He will be your Bitch. Austin: But, but, Can I still do my TM 5minutes pose with beers ? Vince: Of course! Austin: ... mmm.. Naaahh I prefer to be on my good ol house.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 17, 2003 (edited) Because... if you remember.. last time he didnt like the book... he walked away. TWICE. (1st WM, 2nd when he was about to face Eddie). But you know... I dont want to turn myself into another "I know all about backstage politics" guy, so. I forfeit. You are right, lets bring half an hour or more, how about a full Raw is Austin Greatness. Peace. Edited July 17, 2003 by HellSpawn
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy the character. I don't agree with anything he's doing on camera right now. Problem is, the WWE is centered around these "unbeatable veterans" of HBK, HHH, Taker, Austin, etc, who just will not die. I think the road is straight ahead to his last match at WM20, and the WWE wants to keep him on camera until then to get the fans really ready for him to get back in the ring. The walkout issue has been discussed over and over again here; we won't get into that. I don't like the character, but the problem here seems to be the bad writing and the lack of REAL new stars being able to shine. Austin hates the writer's guidelines, but couldn't stay away. I really doubt he likes this crap. He is a mark for himself, and he will not be buried, so he settles for this. I can't stand it either, but I don't blame him for the GM character sucking, because no one could really do it and make it a fresh new thing. the staleness is in abundance and I guess I just deal with it. Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 17, 2003 About Austin: It's not the stale character that I dislike the most (I do hate that, but alot of characters are stale right now, so it doesn't stand out.). What I hate the most is how much god damn TV time he takes up. It's freakin' annoying because his character is stale, AND he's on TV maybe more than anybody. He takes up more TV time than the World Champ, who we usually complain takes up too much time. Think about that.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 17, 2003 OK, I see your point. Looks like we were beginning a fight while we both were kinda in the same channel.
Only The Strong Survive 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 The guy has excellent mic skills, so they should put him in a managerial role where he talks for someone (Lance Storm?). He should just pull a Ted Dibiase. I love the irony.
Guest Lilly Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I think Austin is still one of the most fun parts of the show. 2 weeks ago I think he was great with his interaction with Kane and other wrestlers backstage
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I liked the Eric / Steph feud, but both shows have been fucked up since they decided to give Austin and Sable "power positions". I hope they don't add any more people to these positions and Austin and Sable should be fired from their on-TV roles because the shit's annoying and makes things complicated. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Austin's character pisses me off to no end. He's stale, he doesn't wrestle anymore and isn't drawing ratings like he used to. Get him off my TV for a year or so and give him a proper retirement match or so when he's ready. Building TV shows around hasbeens like Austin will not help WWE at all. Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Austin should just retire, he was great for the business but now it's the time for him to stay away from the ring and let somebody else shine. If he is planning on coming back for one more match is to give the rub(in other words getting pinned by) a new superstar, and i don't mean Rock, HHHomo, Taker or Kane but somebody that deserves it like Benoit, Book,Jericho or RVD. Guest FileCabinet Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I wouldn't mind Austin having a spot on Raw as the general manager if he were booked correctly. I don't like the fact that he gets too much TV time. To make things worse, they continue to make him look strong. Beating up active wrestlers only hurts the ones receiving the ass-kicking. If booking him as stronger than midcarders is all these writers can do, then he should be taken off the shows.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I liked him in the beginning, but the hundreds of Stunners and same old re-hashed segments are ridiculous. Austin can makr you love him in the role with his interactions with others, but he doesn't need to escalate everything into beating them up, rather he needs to just serve as the face GM. Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 20, 2003 I have a sick feeling that this will be a swerve and Bischoff will be blamed and fired. It would really piss me off as SCSA does nothing for me anymore. I wouldn't mind seeing William Regal in the commish role. Some points... How many agree with him (quote above) ? How many think this is going to be a *shocking* swerve ? I have the same feeling about Linda... Maybe Austin will turn heel and beat everyon... oh wait... he is face and already beat everyone. Now about FileCabinet post...is true, Austin is RETIRED and still beat the *monster* Kane and of course that silly canadians Jericho and Christiiiiiaaaaaaaaaan. Oh yeah and it really help Storm too.
