While I think this line of reasoning is starting to die out, there historically has been a "he's smaller than me thus he's not tough" mentality among (non-smart) wrestling fans. It's why Hogan always had to fight bigger guys. If some hick from __________ (fill in the blank, I'd rather not offend anyone by naming their state or region) sees Spike Dudley at 150 lbs or ReyRey at 180 lbs. they'll think "this guy is tiny - I could whip his ass". To those people, their wrestlers need to be larger than life, like superheroes.

It should be noted that *historically* that view of "larger than life" was really proliferated by _McMahon_. Before that you had guys like Buddy Rogers, Lou Thesz, Harley Race, Dory Funk, etc etc. as the 'big stars' and they certainly weren't as large as Hogan.

It's possible to make a small guy a draw, it just _no one_ has tried it yet.
