I'm with Smues here. Being a Giants fan, Gagne losing is something to cherish... except when it's costing the Giants home field advantage for when they get to the series (Everyone else is doing it, why not me?).

Anyway, I called the AL taking it earlier on, so I'll just ask that everyone recognize my awesomeness.

Thank you.

Now my Cubbies will have to claim their World Series title on the road.

Don't worry, we'll sweep or take it in 6

Who would've thought the game would be played so quickly?

Yeah, usually before the end of the game. Presuming a result is in the bag when it may not be.

Kinda like wrestling companies telling its own fans part of its product is boring. Credits = time to tune out.

A Pox on FOX.

Mulder was in the game for too long

Guardado sucks.

The three guys who didn't pitch tonight:

Halladay

Lance Carter

MacDougal

Halladay was pretty much not going to do much.

Lance is a token

Mac could have pitched.

Bob, blame Furcal for the NL's loss. His god damn throw and his warning track power cost you.

I'll take the Cubbies in 6...but that still puts them winning it on the road.

A sweep is out, as I do NOT trust either Estes or Clement to deliver a quality start in a World Series game. 5 games is possible, however. GO CUBS!

As a Giants fan and a long time Estes watcher, I wouldn't trust Estes to deliver a quality start in SPRING TRAINING, let alone the postseason.

Boy, did Sabean get the Mets good with THAT trade last year... suckers...

Oh it's a 2-3-2. For some reason I was thinking Stanley Cup and a 2-2-1-1, which I like better.

Did anyone else hate that Nike commercial with that kid talking about how fast he was and how he'd beat you in a race or something?

Anyone at all?

Well, we can always hope for the "Atlee Hammaker Effect" to afflict Gagne:

Serve up a fat one in the All-Star game, be rocked for multiple runs and cost your league the game, and never be the same afterwards.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving team... ;P

Eric Gagne on losing the All Star game:

"It's no big deal"

I'm sure it isn't now that the Dodgers stock has plummetted in the last month.

Fuck Gagne.

Wonder if he coughed one up on purpose with a comment like that.

I'm kinda surprise Baker didn't go righty (Gagne), lefty (Wagner), righty (Smoltz). It was clear Blaylock wasn't going to face Wagner, so Dusty's decision caught me by surprise.

The last 3 innings were good though. I'm sure the other NL teams who have a shot are pissed at Gagne.

Scoscia is the best between the lines manager in Baseball today. Brilliant stragedy saving Blalock who owns righties these year until the 8th.

honestly now, why should Gagne give a shit?

He might think his team has a chance at making the W.S. Not going to happen, but a player should at least have a postive mentality.

More likely he is upset, but wants to forget about it and move on.

I don't Gagne meant like the game didn't matter but that he giving up the runs didn't matter...As an mask to avoid blame towards himself.

He'll be gone in a year...

The real question is...Who do they elect as new Commish.

My Solution: HAS to be an unbiased Person.

Someone with Knowledge of the game and intelligence but no Bias...

Meaning it can't be another owner or former player.

True fact:

Neither 32nd man played tonight.

Don't you feel better for voting now?

Actually, I do. I appreciated the fact that not every single guy got into the game this year. Not only did we get the better players on the field, but the game was better managed and was played in only two and a half hours, instead of the usual 3 1/2-4 it takes. Besides, there was a pretty good chance that the game last night could have gone extra innings...do you think it would have been a good thing for the teams to be out of players completely by then (i.e. last year's mess)?

Anything that keeps Lance Carter, Benitez, Mike Williams, Dmitri Young, and Geoff Jenkins (good player, but Brian Giles was more deserving) OFF my TV screen is a good thing.

I was disappointed that Mac the Ninth didn't get to pitch, however. I was hoping to get a look at him, as Royals' baseball is pretty hard to find around here.

You know what no one (I think) has mentioned and no one mentioned last night on Fox or ESPN was that Dontrelle Willis, the savior of baseball for black people of America, didn't pitch. Shouldn't there be a national outrage over this? I mean HE HAD TO BE THERE and is the greatest thing since slice bread and is going to save baseball all by himself! Yes I know he was unavailable but still made me laugh at all the hype over him and even Fox hyping with Clemens on the beginning of the game and the guy didn't even pitch. Poor kid...hopefully he don't flame out in the 2nd half of the season.

Hey since he was unavailable shouldn't he have been replaced like Zito was? Oh and did you hear the HUGE five minute standing ovation Clemens got? I mean the media kept telling me the fans wanted him there and they ended up not caring. How...unsurprising.

Oh and even though I'm an A's fan I was hoping for an N.L. blow out win to make the "this time it counts" crap (didn't Joe Buck seem REALLY uncomfortable at the opening having to force it in three or four times? Its the "ruthless agression" for MLB.) becomes pointless because the N.L. would have hosted anyways and then everyone would have turned the game off by the end. Unfortunently now Selig gets to pat himself on the back and have a cookie and talk about how he saved the game. Bleh.

Actually his contract runs out on December 31, 2005 and that's when he says he'lls step down so still a ways to go before he's gone unfortunently. Oh and the next commisoner will either be Sandy Alderson who's just been a Selig flunky but did take the umpires down a notch or just another owner...I'm thinking probably Selig friend's Jerry Reinsdorf or Peter Magowan.

Speaking as a hockey fan who's pretty apathetic about baseball, you guys can have Gary Bettman as your new commish.

He's almost as bad as Selig, but without the excuses of relatives owning a team or Fox treating him like a marionette.

Guest Vern Gagne

Neither Willis or Prior pitched. Willis because he started Sunday's game, and Prior was probably the emergency pitcher for extra innings.

Don't diss Dmitiri Young. Considering the team he plays for his numbers are very good. I don't even consider him some undeserving All-Star.

Selig is twice the commissioner Gary Bettman is. Baseball as a labor deal, and competive balance is starting come back. I can honestly say I see no clear cut favorites to win the World Series. Everyone says the Yankees but they have their problems, and the last two years prove they aren't unbeatable.

Oh man, I SOOO want to race that little punk after seeing that commercial over and over again. Especially after the cocky ass look he gives at the end of the commercial.
