Fear of a Black Hat

If any of you have seen this movie, and for those who haven't, it's real funny. The easiest way to describe it is "Spinal Tap, rap version".

Now the DVD has been released and tomorrow I'm getting it.

It'll be mine soon enough. Funny fucking movie. Not as great as Spinal Tap, but a good parallel with it being a rap mockumentary.

Yeah, and how could anyone think that "kill whitey" was a racist song when they were OBVIOUSLY talking about Whitey Deluca. And he was Italian...one of those olive colored mutha-fuckas. But they were out of town when he got killed.

I MUST HAVE THIS MOVIE! and I am still looking for the soundtrack.

My favorite part of the movie was the C&C Music Factory parody of the burial of Martha Washington.

Or the booty juice segment.

Commentary, deleted scenes, music videos, trailers, new interviews.

This movie is so classic. I hope the dvd is filled with extras, cause I would hate to see it get the bare-bones treatment, and then have to anticipate another version coming out in 6 months.

Interesting points-

Nina Blackburn was played by now filmaker Kasi Lemmons

Tasty Taste also played the Gay Nerd in Revendge of the Nerds (I never knew this)

And Ice Cold's ex is better known today as Sherry Palmer from 24.

Umm... more interesting points -

Tasty Taste's girl was also Larenz Tate's girl in Dead Presidents.

Alot of the cast members and extras are also in CB4.

The video is actually called "A Gangsta's Life Ain't Fun" and the two girls in the hot tub are pornstars Alicia Rio and Dominique Simone.

Larry B Scott (Tasty Taste) was also in the Snake Eater movies.

For some reason I thought that Nina Blackburn was Rachael True.

I already own the soundtrack to this movie. Quite hilarious it is.

Oh and Tone Def was in the T2, he was one of the workers in the mental hospital. He was also the football player in the "That's great, but who are the chefs?" commercial.

You need to do the world a favor and rip the soundtrack into MP3 for dl.

My Peanuts is probably the best Too Short parody I have ever heard in my life.

Yet "Guerillas in the Midst" is actually a good non-funny rap song.

I Never saw the whole movie, the only part I saw was When Rusty was talking about going solo.

And All I wanna know is if it's better then CB4?

IMNSHO, CB4 can't shake a stick to Fear of a Black Hat.

And yes Crucifixio, Charlie Murphy is funny as hell. I was weak when he was on the Dave Chappelle show doing the Real World parody. Killer stuff there.

The music video parodies done in Fear of a Black Hat makes it a better movie than CB4.

Tasty Taste was a Pharmsutical Distributor before he was a rapper. Rip did gay phone sex.

Advantage: Fear of Black Hat

A reluctant gay phone sex operator. The humor came from the fact that he didn't want to do it and that he and his other friends from the 'burbs were doing basically everything possible to not do anything illegal while waiting for their big break. Which makes it even more humorous when these clean-cut cats become gangsta rappers.

On the other hand you have NWH, who don't really satirize the goody-goody just "acting" hard, because we're supposed to believe that they really are hard (Tasty Taste a drug dealer? HA!) for real. So CB4 has Black Hat beat in at least that respect. CB4 satirized the dynamic of GROUPS like the one they portrayed, while Black Hat just satirized the entire industry, but Rusty Cundieff made sure that the character he played and the group he was in didn't look weak (they killed Whitey DeLuca and randomly beat down anyone who ran afoul of them). Just take a look at their debate with the Jam Boyz at the elementary school for proof of that. They completely clown the Jam Boyz with "facts" (yearbook pictures, etc.) and come out looking strong. NWH = HHH. You can't make a good parody by saying every other rapper EXCEPT YOU is a fraud. CB4 did a better job of showing that they were ALL fake.

"Yeah, yeah I'm licking your balls."

Come on, that was funny. And when the guy recognizes his voice in the restaurant.

"Nigga, turn around and eat your Big Ass Biscuit."

That's hilarious.

During the backstage segment before the concert NWH was introducing the various other acts on the card who copying each other. There was everybody from Parsley, Rosemary, Tyme to the various rappers with Ice in the name to the white rapper Sherbert or was it Itallian Ice?

Fear of a Black Hat Keeped it Real as the Spinal Tap of Rap. CB4 was just a SNL movie about rap.

Faizone Love > Charlie Murphy

Ummm...exactly? They parodied everyone in the industry while they remained the only "real" act. Pft. Whatever. At least Rock and Co. weren't afraid to go out on a limb and paint themselves as the posers they were.

Faizone Love > Charlie Murphy

Faison was barely even IN Black Hat.

Btw, it's Rosemary, Sage, Parsley and Thyme and Vanilla Sherbert.

I've never heard anyone associate CB4 with SNL and I don't know who Keeped It Realer, but I enjoy both movies equally. Neither of them got it completely right. Black Hat also suffers from more technical faux pas than any other movie I can think of which makes it look bush league in my eyes. Like the part where Ice Cold is bragging about his new hat and outfit, but we saw him wearing those clothes about a half an hour before. WTF?
