But my opinion is a tad biased based on the facts that A) I cream my pants at the sight of Robert Duvall, and B) i've been genuinely interested in the Civil War for a few years. I own the Gettysburg DVD already (god, i hate flippers), and I will pick this up soon. The four hour movie is a trial to sit all the way through and watch, but overall I still thought it was a beautifully made film. Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 17, 2003 i used to love a good long ass movie, but i find myself liking short movies more and more. i think it's from taking so many film classes, where watching movies (even good ones) becomes like a chore, since they're associated with class, and you want them to be as short as possible. and after watching so many great movies that are so short, long running times seem excessive. i'll watch just about anything under 90 minutes. no, i don't have anything to add about 'gods and generals'. Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 17, 2003 I saw G&G and honestly thought that it sucked. i loved Gettysburg, but this film just didn't do it for me. And I LOVE long films. I can't put my finger on it, but G&G pretty much was crap. Although if you are a Civil War enthusist, I see why you would like it more. As a film, it wasn't that great.
