Veterans Stadium, but the new one comes next year.

I always maintain that contraction was simply a blackmail attempt by MLB to get new stadiums.

Oh you are 100% right. Believe me as an A's fan I know the blackmail game too well as in late '99 when the annonymous owner in Sports Illustrated first brought up contraction the A's were one of the teams that were brought up. For those who don't know the owner was Peter Magown of Giants. Gee wonder why he'd want the A's gone the rat bastard.

Montreal, Quebec (current) - they have shown that the city has no support for the team, the stadium sucks and players generally hate playing in Canada (higher taxes and prices).

I don't know, if I were playing in a Canadian city but bringing in American cash, I'd be pretty happy. The city has supported the team in the past, though, and it's possible that they can in the future, it's just that they've been screwed over SO many times that a lot of people are fed up. If they had a new owner in there who was committed to the city and helped get them a new stadium, and in turn, a consistent winning team, the fans would come back. Plus, of all the cities listed, they probably have the best equipped major league stadium (besides maybe Washington).

Speaking of Washington, keep them the fuck out of there. How a city that has TWICE lost a team in the last 50 years could even be considered for a franchise is stupid. Leagues should only give a team one chance, if you lose a team, don't expect a new one. That's a pet peeve of mine.

I've got a soft spot for the Big O. Maybe it's just because I've seen a lot of games there over the year, but the place has a certain atmosphere and charm, even, that you don't get anywhere else.

It's no Camden Yards, I know, but dammit I like it!

the Metrodome.

oh how could I forget. That place sucks. If you opened a door, the building would deflate, so all the doors are revolving.

Also take into account it's the HHH Metrodome, and by being so bad it's holding the Twins down!

I just want Sashington to get a team so everyone down there can stop bitching about it. This is just what would be needed to put Angelos in his place, as he thinks he can do pretty much anything he wants, since he has a stranglehold on the area.

Skydome is a concrete bunker.

The only bunker Canada has to its military

The San Juan move would only be for a year before they decide to do with the Expos.

I don't know if people realize how impressive Bonds 73 Hr's where. Considering the lack of good pitches Bonds had to hit, him breaking McGwire's record 3 years later should not make the record any less significant.

While running through the divisions in my head, I just realised that since 2000, the entire NL Central has gotten new stadiums except of course, the Cubs. Just thought I'd throw that out there, whatever it may be good for.

No offense, but that would then suggest to me that you are refering to Winnipeg, and I'm sorry, they supported their Jets even when it was dying. If they got a chance to get a new team, I'd give it to him. I mean, all for second chances. Hell, Ottawa was given a second chance with team, and look at them. They almost win a Stanley Cup every season.

And yes, I brought up a hockey team, but I'm assuming that you mean in general and not just baseball.

However, I concur with everyone else. Washington fucked up twice. How the hell do they deserve a third shot? Especially when neither of the other franchises they have are doing anything special either.

Oh well... I picked La Parka cause at the team, hopefully, would turn out good.

How great would it be if La Parka was some teams Mascot. Some guy in a mask playing Chair Guitar would be worth the price of admission alone.

Hey, Los Angeles fucked up THREE times in the NFL and they might get a FOURTH shit.

EDIT: *shot.

I don't think you needed to correct yourself there, Czech.

HOWEVER: No stupid "trendy" or "cool" new franchise names. The last two expansions have shown the MLB brain trust has exhausted its ability to come up with non-lame team names. Sure, many people are still asking "what the hell's an Expo?" but at least, after 30 years, we're kinda used to that one enough that it sounds kinda normal next to "Devil Rays."

Yeah, hopefullly we don't see a team named the 'Dragons, Carp or Swallows' anytime soon in the MLB ;)

Yeah, that was lame :P

How about Montreal? All they need is a new park, and they almost got one before being done in by Jeffrey "Snake" Loria and Bud "Even Bigger Snake" Selig.

The Big O drew 70K for games in the late 70s and early 80s. 30-40K were still showing up in the 90s, pre-strike. It isn't happening now because the obscenely pro-American owners aren't letting it happen.
