JasonX 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 Anyone know who the Conquistadors were on tonight's Smackdown? Scott Keith suggested that they were most likely OVW rookies put under hoods (as opposed to the WWE hiring Chris Danials and another indie guy and having them wrestle under the hoods) so as to put them onto TV while protecting their OVW characters from being debuted on TV at the moment. So were they Seven and Travis Bane, who were announced recently as being given the call-up to the WWE a couple of weeks ago and now are playing interchangable masked mutes or some local indie workers given the hoods to wear and be jobbers for this week's Smackdown? The masked guys were "Ironman" Rob Conway and "Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore....I could recognize them cause I have the OVW DVD Were they in the full-body suits/hoods that were used by Edge/Christian/Chris Danials a couple of years back or did the WWE given these two guys new costumes so that people could somewhat recognize them under the Conquistador costume? Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 18, 2003 Just masks.
NYU 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 You're assuming that WWE didn't half-ass the gimmick. Awful mistake. Nope, all these Conquistadors got was a standard mask. No body suit, nothing. Typical masked jobber Velocity-type match....only it was on Smackdown instead.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 18, 2003 That's stupid. If they just had black hoods they should've been the Executioners, another great masked jobber tag-team of yesteryear.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 18, 2003 I was so impressed by those two guys tonight. Sure, they didn't do hardly anything (if anything at all), but I just loved the way they moved around the ring.
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 Dinsmore and Conway are gold. Them vs. AMw, vs. Haas & Benjamin, etc. would be great
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 18, 2003 You'll notice Seven and Bain when you see them. They've heavily tatoo'd. I like Dinsmore, I haven't seen that much on Conway yet though
Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 I've only seen one Rob Conway match, on Velocity last year vs. Orton, but he's already won me over. Anyone who pulls a fake injury and sells it for a good 2 minutes until the trainers come out just to surprise the green new babyface rookie with a roll-up in a VELOCITY match is my hero. Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted July 18, 2003 They SO shouldn't have used the Conquistadors name for them ... save the name for the gold suits. They could have called them the Executioners (as previously stated) or the Grapplers or the Embalmers. (and yes, I did just read the PP3 webpage, and stole the Embalmers name from there)

The masked guys were "Ironman" Rob Conway and "Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore....I could recognize them cause I have the OVW DVD Are they any good? I always end up pushing them in EWR when they are done with OVW... but I've never really heard much about them outside of that.
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted July 19, 2003 They're both pretty good, but they'll probably end up like the Bashams. Their tag team name in OVW was "The Lords of the Ring." For anyone who's interested, Dinsmore's finisher is a german suplex, and Conway's is a neckbreaker (he used it on Smackdown).
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Dinsmore and Conway as well as Seven and Bane should end up on Raw, which would bring their grand total to 4 teams. SmackDown has Haas/Benjamin, APA, FBI, Bashams, Rhyno/Benoit (for however long) and Los Guerreros when Chavo returns. They don't need new blood just yet. Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Conway's is a neckbreaker (he used it on Smackdown). What a innovative finisher

Jesus I remember that, but i didnt know it was Conway. Man thats was funny as hell. The ntire crowd started laughing at Orton, which goes to show you how despised he was (still is) Just as a point, Conway's EWR finish is called "The Iron Fist", whichm ya gotta admit, is kewl
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Both are good wrestlers. Nick Dinsmore fought Chris Benoit last year and went toe to toe with him for 20 minutes. Dinsmore is a great technical wrestler. Rob Conway is also good and has the better look, but not quite as good technically......He is a little more exciting though. Both are good
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Dinsmore's been around for a while, he was a WCW jobber a while back. -To wit, from this weeks observer, • Rob Conway: Under developmental. Good worker who has looked great at times (especially a few weeks back on TV in a King of the Valley match). Not a great promo, but improving, and a body that people have compared to a smaller Lex Luger. Has worked both babyface and heel in OVW, and friends I watch the show with wonder why he hasn’t been called up yet. I couldn’t give you a good reason. • Nick Dinsmore: He’s been around pretty much since the beginning and is under developmental. He’s been a babyface forever but will likely be turning heel in the next few weeks. A good worker and a good promo who has likely been held back because of his look. He’s not fat or out of shape or anything like that, he just looks like a normal guy you would see walking down the street in Louisville, KY, and unfortunately, WWE looks at guys like that and doesn’t see superstar written all over them. Of course, they also don’t seem to realize that some of the biggest names of all time, like Mick Foley and Arn Anderson and Terry Funk and so on, haven’t looked like movie stars. It doesn’t appear there are any plans to use him anytime soon.
