I am thinking about buying an xbox

Recommended Posts

Guest cpac

I already have ps2 and gamecube. It's just that reading the reviews for star wars just makes me want to go out and buy one so bad. I know the xbox is 180 new and star wars is 50 dollars. Is there anything else I would need to buy, like memory cards/controllers???? I am thinking about buying the xbox at price club because it is like 200 with a remote, 2 games, extra controller and a memory card I think. And if someone can please tell me more about star wars without ruining the game. Please do so, thank you.

as was stated before, the mem card is useless unless you need it for taking like a CW (created whatever) for a specific game at someone else's house.

hmph... i'm probably going to end up with an xbox myself. just becuase a lot of people i know have it and would be great to get something going over "live".

Yeah I'm thinking about getting one for my b-day. It sounds like a lot of fun. I then will have all big 3 systems!

I got a PS2 when it came out, a GC not long after it came out and an XBox after the price dropped to $200.

I play the XBox more than the others.

And KOTOR is the best game I've played on the system (I mean...I like Halo...but I can only do so much first person shooting in single player).

I bought it based more on future games then what was out currently.

At the time the only games that interested me were Halo and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

But I looked into the future and saw KOTOR, Fable, B.C., Ninja Gaiden and Halo 2 online and went ahead and bought it.

On top of that the three games I wish my computer was good enough to run (Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Deus Ex 2) are all coming out on XBox also.

As far as consoles go I think of it like this:

PS2 has the most games, so your sure to find something. Plus the GTA series is tremendous.

GC has the can't miss franchises like Metroid and Zelda that I couldn't live without (plus they got Resident Evil and my favorite game of last year Eternal Darkness)

Xbox has the games that really break new ground in all the ways I want them too. Fable and B.C. being the best examples. Sine I play online XBox was a no brainer as well.

Plus...no memory cards make life sweet.

I feel the exact sam way BPS. I love the gamecube for it's exclusive titles and the ps2 for it's overall triple a titles. I just want to know how star wars is an rpg? What rpg elements are in the game? Do you level up? Do you make money???

I put it in the other thread but the answer to both is yes.

You can make money in all sorts of ways from robbing people while they're afraid of you to killing people with bounties on their heads, to winning the addictively simple card game in the game to things that happen throughout the story.

If you like racing and want some challenge, get Project Gothem Racing...sometimes you want to break your controller.

I am now the proud owner of the xbox and star wars. My question is, You can burn cd's onto your xbox, but can you ever play the music during the games themselves? For instance people say you might be able to play music during raw 2 for instance. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, CD-RWs usually work in transferring mp3s to Xbox, and if the game supports custom soundtracks, it'll probably tell you. Examples include Project Gotham, Legends of Wrestling 2, and the Tony Hawk series.

When you go to buy a game for XBox look at the back of the box and in the lower left hand corner it wil tell you if the game allows custom soundtracks.

DON'T get Tony Hawk 2x...I'd actually suggest THPS 3 or 4, as they can be found for under $20 these days. And you CAN play CD-RWs, as well as burn them. Memorex brand seems to work fine.

I have all three systems. The X-Box is far and away the one I play the most. It has the best hardware, the best games, and (small-handed people be damned) the best controller. It's also a dashed good DVD player, and I love not having to invest in the money pit that memory cards are.

Only way I'd get an Xbox is if I can find someone to mod it to get all the extra crap on it. A couple of friends have it like that and have all sorts of arcade, SNES, Dreamcast, XBox, etc. games on it. Prohibitively expensive though.

Dreamcast?

Eh, no.

There's good emulators out there for SNES, Genesis, NES, Master Sytem, etc etc etc. All that old stuff, and GBA. There is a PSX emulator, but it's pretty bad. There is an N64 emulator, but it doesn't work very well with a vast majority of games. Thankfully, it does have near-perfect emulation of Mario Kart 64 if you're nuts for that game.

There's also a port of MAME for your old arcade machine addiction.

But no, you are not going to be playing Dreamcast, PS2, or GameCube games on your Xbox.

I already have tony hawk 3 and 4 for the ps2 and tony hawk 1 for the psx. I want to get the tony hawk 2x because of my fondness for both games and I am having a hard time finding tony hawk 2.

if your X-box is modded, then you can not use X-box live.
