Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Does anyone else think Shelton will be a huge star and maybe even a workrate god in a few years?
Guest Anglesault Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 I d. He does a lot of little things that I like: After Shelton's kick took out Charlie, I LOVED Shelton's reaction
Guest Lightning Flik Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 He'll be there in a few years, and yes. A workrate God like he's starting to show already. I can see him US Champ (or if we are back to one fed, or now the supposed WCW reformation) at SummerSlam next year if they split up Benjamin and Haas.
Guest CanadianChick Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 I like both of the tag champs, although I do like Benjamin better. I think they'll be together for a while though. I don't look for them to split up anytime soon.
Guest acnx Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 I think both he and Charlie have it, and I can see them both becoming huge stars in the future. The fact that they've been working with Angle and Eddie over the last couple months can't hurt.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Haas is good too, but I don't know if he "IT." Shelton has IT.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 They seem to like Benjamin & Haas, and I love them as a team... I don't think either are established enough for a singles run quite yet, though. Knowing the WWE, they will split them up way too soon and have a heatless singles feud... following that both will flop around the midcard forever pointlessly.
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 I wouldn't want to see Haas and Benjamin split. At least not for a while. They are the best regular tag team to hit WWE in years, so they should run with it for a while.

They should definitely run with it for awhile, especially with both tag divisions as weak as they are right now. To split them up anytime in the near future would be to ruin both of them, as they aren't ready. It will be fun to see how these guys progress.
Guest BrokenWings Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 I agree with two major aspects of this discussion. 1) Shelton having "IT". He'll certainly be a break out star whenever the WWE decides to split them. Hass is good, but not on the level of Benjamin. 2) They shouldn't split Shelton & Hass yet. They're easily the best tag team in North America at the moment, and should be allowed to flourish as long as possible without holding them back. They're only going to get better from here.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Benjamin owns. I want a feud with Benoit ASAP.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 I'm glad this thread came up because I thought the same thing recently, as everyone else has been saying. I rarely catch the TV shows, I caught RAW and not last night's Smackdown, but the one before (Brock v. TGTTE/Show) for the first time in what must've been months. I picked up the 2003 PPV DVDs that I hadn't gotten yet (which was everything but Rumble I got when it first came out) a week or two ago and my opinion on Benjamin and Haas keeps going up. I watched all their stuff on the Backlash DVD, the match, the pre-interview, the DVD post interview, I like both a lot. Not saying I haven't before, but they are really sticking out now and definately will be something big. My guess is Benjamin may get further than Haas, remember, they tried him out before with that short feud on Heat with William Regal. These two will be some of the big players in the future, and as much as I love the team, I won't be too disappointed, because I think they will have a great feud against each other when time comes. Maybe it'll even become one of the next main event rivalries....
Guest BDC Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Ever since these two have debuted, I watched them both. I like them as a team; they're solid, they work well together and they bring out an aura that says "We're a damn good team." But since the beginning, I've always thought Benjamin has been the superior member. Haas, while pretty good, just doesn't seem as solid as Shelton to me and honestly, shouldn't be the frontman of the team. When they do break, I'm going to hope that Shelton gets a push and a friggin' name for his finish. Shelton Benjamin, WWE champion, 2007.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 *see's the Cena love dying and the Benjamin love blooming* All is right with the world.
Guest Choken One Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Where do you see the Cena love dying? I say it's equal.
Guest MideonMark Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 Other than maybe Lesnar, Shelton is by FAR the best new guy thats come through in the last year or so. I wish they'd let him talk more though cause I heard hes pretty good on the mic.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 A few months ago nearly everyone was proclaiming Cena as the future and completely ignoring Benjamin with the most common thing said was "he's black, he won't get pushed far". Cena's 15 minutes is just about up. Thank God.

Cena's 15 minutes is just about up. Thank God. Considering they're having a somewhat hard time keeping him a heel with the crowds... and considering he's one of the most over stars on SD... I think you're wrong.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 I mean on the net. And I think you're inflating "most over stars on smackdown" The novelty of his raps is wearing off - much like Gowans leg just not as quickly - and there's not much substance to be found beyond that.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Good to see someone pointing out that Cena, while there's talent there to work with, is not all that right now. His character is over and he's entertaining, but he can't have a ** match to save his life. Benjamin and Haas are way better future prospects than Cena.

Everyone has pointed out that Cena sucks in the ring. People just love his promos

Cena's raps are still cool, right now he's straddlin the line between "gimmick" and "character" and it's entirely possible he'll land on the right side.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 I've said since the first time I sat and watched Team Angle that Shelton Benjamin not only has "it" but he is far and away the best prospect WWE has brought up since Kurt Angle in 99. And yes, that intentionally includes Brock. Hass...I don't see anything in. He tries hard...but he doesn't have "it" at all.
Guest Thunder Rising!!! Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 I beleive even if Shelton makes it big as a singles star, he would be receiving the Beniot treatment anyway. As in jobbing senselessly all the time and staying in mid-card hell forever.
Guest bort Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 cenas time will come agian, he needs more seasoning and such, i think Shelton will be a big star, he needs a distinct finisher though, i know for a while he was using that spin kick
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Benjamins a WWE boy, which is one thing Benoit isn't. He has Brisco in his corner.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Benjamin only has one unfortunate strike against him, and as sad as it is in this day and age to say it... he will hit the WWE ceiling because he is black.
Guest Askewniverse Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 i think Shelton will be a big star, he needs a distinct finisher though, i know for a while he was using that spin kick Benjamin is still using that spinning kick (Dragon Whip) as his finisher. I'd love to see Benjamin bust out the 450 Splash, but that's just wishful thinking.
Adam Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 I havent seen a whole lot of Shelton, but what I have seen has been impressive.
Internet Warfare Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 I think Sheltons gonna be the Marty Jennety of the Rockers. But didnt they say that about Matt Hardy... and look at him now. So I figure with my markish brain that when Shelton and Hass break apart Shelton is gonna be the one wrestling Velocity.
