They should change it to that "The End" song they own the rights to.

You can't open the show with "The End Is Near," you'll get everyone's hopes up. That's flagrant false advertising.

WCW had a video package for Nash Goldberg at Starrcade 98 that began with heavenly music, a picture of clouds, and suddently Nash's face appearing in the clouds like a vision.

Just when I was hoping to see "In Loving Memory..." they let me down and told me that the match was still on.

I don't know if anyone has heard of Beyond the Embrace, but they're a heavy metal band that plays mostly in the northeast. They let me use one of their songs for my wrestling show when it aired last year, and it worked out perfect for an intro... see for yoursel

As a Masshole AND a metalhead, I, of course, have heard them. Fuck, I'm wearing a hand-made Beyond The Embrace shirt right now (white t-shirt with the Beyond The Embrace logo on the front in black marker, and "Embrace The Sky" on the back in similar font and black marker).

What song did you use for the package? I'm guessing "Bastard Screams" or "Against The Elements," as those two songs seem to be the most fitting for a video package of wrestling.

I love rap, but I don't like the Smackdown theme at all. It seems a little too...uh...low key for a wrestling show, if that makes any sense. They need something with a more lively instrumental.

Raw's current theme and set are both fine, IMO.

You're wrong. Smackdown has a good theme because it's urban music on an urban network, and talks about all sorts of upward mobility, which is considerably less prevalent on Raw.

The Raw set is bad. It's too pastel and cliche.

I'm guessing Vince changed the SD theme in the first place because he couldn't afford Manson's incentives anymore.

Does Austin still use his kick ass Disturbed version?

Sadly, no.

I just had a good idea for show introductions that would result in a minute or so more of content (or advertisements).

Instead of showing last week's "Previously: on a very special Smackdown" and such, followed by the tired old clips of random faces and people walking in warehouses, why not take the clips of last week that need to be recapped and put those in the opening montage so you can have all the Smackdown hijinx of last Thursday set to the dope beats of "I Want It All." It could work and be cool. I'm tired of all that tired production music and "O Fortuna" for everything.

Just because the music is "urban" doesn't necessarily make it good. It's weak and comes off flat to me. I don't like rock at all, but at least listening to Raw's theme gets you a little pumped up.

Yeah, I agree with you. Except I generally don't like most rap to begin with. Either way, the song is too slow for a wrestling opening montage.

I've heard good things about the announcers in Wildside but I forgot their names and have never heard them work. If sure they could be better than Coach.

Whoever told you that needs to be shot in the face, they are on par with Coach. Their names are: Steve Prazack(sp?) and Dan "The Dragon" Wilson.

Wasn't Steve Prazack the backstage interviewer for awhile in ECW (I think he's the one with a mullet, mustache and wore glasses)?

I remember when he tried to interview Lance Storm, and Storm acted all pissed that they couldn't get Ed Whalen to interview him... :phaser:

(Ed was still alive at that point)

Yeah, Prazcack was the ECW bacstage guy. He was pretty good, even though he had a mullet.

Handmade shirts... now that's a fan.

Anyway, I can't remember the name of the song. It was from the demo CD they recorded before they signed with Metal Blade, and I don't know if the track is on Against the Elements. Embers Ashtray rings a bell...

P.S. Massachusetts kicks ass!

IMHO 36 Crazyfists - Slit Wrist Theory or Angel of Death by Slayer would be a good RAW theme. Even better, Vince could get a different metal band playing every week. It would draw more casual viewers to the show and also help increase ratings. The only downside I can possibly see is the fact there would be no moshing space as all the arena's would be bastardised seating. I hate sitting down during a band's performance, it seems so disrespectful. :headbang:

I wouldn't mindif WWE actually had the "THEME SONG" performed for the event...Make it fair

WWE plugs your album/single for a month...That said band oughta agree to perform live to kick the show off...

Sure...The bands usually SUCK but it's better then ANOTHER 5 minute recap...If you brought the PPV...Most likely you know what happened to set the matches up...

Sorry, Mada, but "Angel Of Death" (I'm not even saying who it's by, because you SHOULD know if you don't) as the Raw theme? PR disaster. That's the song most White Supremacist Neo-Nazi's cite as reason for liking the band (despite Tom Araya being a NON-WHITE and the VOCALIST/BASSIST). Not everybody knows it's an anti-Nazi song, since it pretty much just describes what Mengele did.

I still want my beloved SF, dammit!

The fact is we all know, if Vince is reading this he will use it now, just to try and attract viewers from the "neo nazi demographic" :spank:

Wasn't Brock getting SHOVED down our throats good enough as it was?

Hahaha.

It'd be so bad, like XPW bad, if Brock came out to an "Angel Of Death" knockoff with a sample of a Hitler speech during it, and walked out wearing a swastika bandana...

Exactly. Its not bad per se, but too laid back for me.

I'm probably one of the very few posters here who loves both metal and hip-hop, so take it from me: a wrestling show needs music that is loud, fast, and heavy. The Raw theme is okay, but "Thorn in Your Eye" was better. Everything about that song just screamed out "wrestling". See also the ECW theme song.

Czech Republic- you say a rap song is better because they're on an urban network. I say- who cares?? Should Raw get country music then? I did like your idea though of using the new theme in the background for "previously on Smackdown" type intro sequences, but its too slow for the main theme. If you really want a hip-hop theme, they should get Method Man's "Bring the Pain". Now THAT one would be more appropriate.
