Guest MideonMark Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 A wrestling promotion actually using a steel cage match to blow off a feud between two hated rivals, what are they thinking?!? Thats so crazy it just might work
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Ho-lee shit. The Raven/Punk blowoff AND a TSM meet and greet make 9/6 a must-attend already.
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 The Field Of Honor will start on this show!!! Any more info on this? Like ... what the hell is it?
Guest tpww7 Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 It's an 8 man tournament, which as of now includes John Walters and Xavier.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I've decided to go to the 8/16 show, since i'll be in New York then
Guest tpww7 Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Cool, I'll be there, maybe we can meet at the show.
syxx2001 Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 MideonMark, TNA used a cage to blow off the XXX/AMW feud.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 So how the fuck am i supposed to get tickets Please bear in mind im in Ireland
Guest tpww7 Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I'm not sure if they send tickets to Ireland, they might if you order online. But you could always buy them and email Rob asking him to hold them at the door for you.
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 So how the fuck am i supposed to get tickets Please bear in mind im in Ireland Dude, you lucky git! Your making the trip to see ROH! Pick me up a program, its the only way ill be able to get one without paying more for postage than for the actual program.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I'm going to the 8.16 show as well- it will be my last of ROH for a long time :-(

I can say ive seen Daneils work live, and I even got a photo with him, but i would mark like a biatch to see Raven in person. Hopefully they will bring him over for Uprising 2 in october. It must be annoying living in Ireland in terms of live wrestling. Do Irish Whip Wrestling ever run shows near to you?
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Well they would if they didnt cancel everyshow they announce as running. My (hopefully) next girlfriend was meant to be the timekeeper at the last show, and i was meant to interview Jerry Lynn for our TV/Video Production class in college, but the show got cancelled
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Well they would if they didnt cancel everyshow they announce as running. My (hopefully) next girlfriend was meant to be the timekeeper at the last show, and i was meant to interview Jerry Lynn for our TV/Video Production class in college, but the show got cancelled That sucks, that would have been sweet as anything. Havent they run any shows with US talent? SUrely they cant pull every show the announce.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 They cancelled the last two, one for Safety concerns (legit, becuase the buliding they were gonna run in recently got shut down), and then tyeh cancelled the second show for no apparant reason Jerry Lynn, Slick Wagner Brown, April Hunter, Jody Fleisch, Doug Williams, Jonny Storm, Ulf Hermann were amongst the names meant to perform
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Are they the only promotion based in Ireland then? How many were they drawing? Surely it must have been a good few if they were bringing that sort of talent over, unless that was the reason they pulled it.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Well, Hammerlock runs, sometimes, but i cant bring myself to give money to Andre Baker. The first two IWW show pulled in at least 5000 over two days What no-one seems to realize is that there is a MASSIVE market for wrestling here (although its mostly marks) The WWA always sells out The Point (15000) and the time when they cancelled a tour, Ireland was the only place that was selling really well The WWE hasnt been here (and i mean the Republic), since 1994, and i cant understand why they wouldnt come back
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 It does seem a little stupid to me. But then again, even though the WWE come over here to England where the market is strong, they still practially shoot themselves in the fott by giving us bullshit cards that no one gives a crap about. The first two IWW show pulled in at least 5000 over two days That is a huge turn out. they must be making good money if they're drawing that many. Was that with US talent, of with jus Brits? Well, Hammerlock runs, sometimes, but i cant bring myself to give money to Andre Baker. I know what your saying. Im basing this on only the one show, but i attended a hammerlock show last year and it was nothing short of bloody dire. Ive posted about it before, so I wont go into it again, but suffice to say i didnt go back for their second show of the year.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 That is a huge turn out. they must be making good money if they're drawing that many. Was that with US talent, of with jus Brits? On both dates, six months between them. They were in The National Basketball "Arena", which is about 15 minutes from where i live and seats 1000. They did an afternoon show and an evening show. The first show was :FIRST IwW SHOW JUNE 15TH SHOW TALLAGHT BASKETBALL ARENA, DUBLIN Matinee 2:00pm Assassin defeated "Middleman" Lee Butler W/Andy Hogg EWA Championship Tournament Chris The Bambi Killer defeated Achmed Chaer (Chris will face the winner of EWA Championship match B @ the 7:30pm show) EWA Championship Tournament Michael Kovac defeated Scott Future Robbie Brookside defeated Flatiner Mike Modest defetaed P.N. News Tatanka defeated Doug Williams Barbwire Hurling Gaelic Death Match CZW World Championship Zandig defeated Scott Future © Evening Show 7:30pm Robbie Brookside defeated Flatiner Scott Future defeated Ahmed Chaer Handicap Match Assasin defeated "Middleman" Lee Butler and Andy Hogg Mike Modest defeated Doug Williams INTERVAL No Holes Barred EWA Championship Chris The Bambi Killer defeated Michael Kovac to become the EWA Champion Tatanka defeated P.N. News Barbed Wire Hurling Gaelic Death Match CZW World Championship Scott Future defeated Zandig © The second show, however, was graced byt he presence of Jake F'N Roberts, who, frankly, had probably been wandering in and out of pubs before he got there
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Thats June 15 last year, i might add
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 That doesnt sound like a bad show at all. I would have gone for sure. Zandig and Modest would have drawn me without a doubt. What the hell did you do to deserve Tatanka though! I cant really see the point in running similar shows on the same day, surely it would have been better to run more far apart.] Barbwire Hurling Gaelic Death Match What on Earth does that involve?
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 My theroy, backed up by Modest-Williams, being in the evening show, was that the promoter had some semblence of a brain and wanted to get children into the first one (which he did), and wrestling fans into the second one For the record, I didnt actually see the Barbwire Hurley Gaelic Death Match, as we were mooching around the arena trying to meet Micheal Modest, but i gather it was an atypical hardcore match with a gaelic Hurley Stick, whcih is made of ash wood, and if you get hit with one, it really fucking hurts This is a picture of one, but i guarantee that its heavy, and it hurts
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Oh right, like in the Guiness advert They were just cashing in on the fact that the show was in Ireland then, I take it.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 You shoulda been at the WWA show, mention Guinness, or Sharocks, or something, and you got a cheap pop
Chunk Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I quite like a drop of Guiness actually. My prefered drink above all other is actually Murpheys Irish Stout. It still doesnt make much sense as to why they would pull shows after those last ones drew so well. I actually wouldt mind seeing the modest/williams match. You should try and make the trip over for Uprising 2. Surely you can get some cheap last minute flights over to london stanstead/gatwick?
LucharesuFan619 Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Cool, I'll be there, maybe we can meet at the show. I'll also be there.
