Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Ever since WWE began the "hard split" brand extension in June, there has been a question as to what they would do on Sunday night's before the PPV. Up until the brand extension, the Sunday Night Heat slot served as an hour "warm up show" for the PPV. There was no problem last month, since the first brand only PPV was a Raw show and Heat is part of that brand. But with Smackdown running their first PPV this weekend, the question was, "How would they explain promoting a Smackdown brand PPV on Heat?" The answer is, "They won't." WWE has decided that on the night of Smackdown PPVs, they will flip flop Heat with Velocity, which is a Smackdown brand show. So this week, Velocity will precede the PPV and be the warm up show for Vengeance. ... Guest Raven_Effect01 Report post Posted July 21, 2003 That sounds good. One question though: Which show do any of you think would be logical to precede Summerslam, since it's one of the Big 5 WWE PPV's where the brands come back together for one night? Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Yeah but now they realise they are relying on The Cat and Josh Matthews to shill the PPV...
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 21, 2003 This had seriously been bothering me. I almost made a thread about this two weeks ago. Will Heat be on Saturday night?
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Confidential. Kidding. I'm sure they'll go back to Heat, but maybe have hosts from both shows.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Or call it the SummerSlam Free For All, or Pre-Game Show, or Countdown, something along those lines. Otherwise they will just stick with Heat.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Wow...they do something that makes a little sense
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Free For All!! They really should bring these back for the 'big 5'. I'm sure Todd Pettengil would do it for almost nothing, and if not, does anyone know what the legend that is Sean Mooney is doing nowerdays? Remember the beach party they had backstage for SummerSlam 96? They should do that again to. And have palm trees on the ring apron. That'd get buy rates up. Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted July 21, 2003 thats actually a really good idea (who knew they would come up with ONE in a whole year).. i hope they just let micheal cole and tazz hype up the ppv from ringside while people are comin in... cat/mathews put me to sleep
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Gunn vs Noble will probably make the PPV if they go w/ the "Indecent Proposal" match that all the kids are raving about these days. The card has seven matches on it (I don't count the APA dealy) so they could probably fit it in, mainly because Steph vs Sable and Vince vs Zack will be short.
