Guest JaKyL25 Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 The reasons I didn't like the match were because: WHY would you put a submission on someone in the corner then have them fight to get in the middle of the ring? Jericho did that so that Michaels had to crawl ALL THE WAY across the ring to get to the ropes (which he almost did). Plus, if HBK tried to power out, Jericho could just do that little swanky head-brace on the middle turnbuckle to push HBK back down. HBK was far enough out towards the middle that he couldn't reach the two side ropes coming out of the turnbuckle Jericho was facing.

I think it's smart to put on an old school slower paced match on television and save the big bumps for the people paying $30 each month and Michaels, as mentioned, still took some pretty sick bumps tonight. I sometimes honestly believe that this a mature HBK that's doing this for the business and not necessarily himself (although he knows he's damn good). My one complaint... Why didn't this match take place in Montreal where Jericho could have got a face pop, HBK could have worked as a heel and the Highlight Reel/Montreal/Hitman bit would have had a purpose in setting up a match. Saving it for another two weeks would have been fine if even more angle development and buildup came with it but they did nothing to promote the match last week. PITTSBURGH NET RADIO

I mean, Shawn did his usual no-selling but in the end tapped out to Jerichos (limited) back work. The problems with the match are moreso outside of it - The horrible announcing (gee Coach did you even WATCH their WM match? King? You were there! You didn't pick up on any similar spots?), the crowd (which is somewhat the fault of the match for having 3 too many 'rest periods'), the build up (or lack thereof), and of course the commercial break and the disadvantage of being a TV match surrounded by TV pacing... I thought the mat work at the beginning was good (Jericho totally carried this), it had some better spots (I dug Michaels' springboard), it just was at a somewhat slower pace (though not _that_ much slower, the factors above made it seem slower) and Jericho milked the crowd a lot more. The most impressive thing about it was Jerichos carry-job.

I agree with you, but let's not kid ourselves. HBK probably wouldn't agree to tap out to a Sharpshooter, especially if it's being used by a graduate of the Dungeon.

I ay be wrong, but women's matches (even good ones such as that) tend to be a blur. Perhaps it was on a RAW. The match was a little slow, and I wish they had helped the commercial break by teasing a Shawn tap then and then cutting out, making the at home crowd rweally anticipate the return. the match was a little slow, but I agree with justcoz about matches needing to be slowed a bit on free TV. No **** affair, but a good ***1/2 , IMO. I liked it, but it was not a match of the year candidate. Shawn held his own and can easily work well with the top guys on RAW, which is a lot better than I can say for many others.

Whenever a heel gets any kind of big win there's always interferance, cheating of some sort or a chair. The only way Y2J was beating HBK clean was if he was a face, which he isn't.

The hardcore match was the week LOD came back.

That always seemed REALLY unecessary seeing how his pushes go to me.
